I'd say the best thing is to have 3 or 4 tactics if you want to use them for 30 years My chose would be 4-4-2 with wingers, 1 cm and 1 dm 4-5-1 with 2 wingers and 1 am 4-5-1 with 2 wingers 2cm and 1 dm 4-3-3 and probably the flat 4-4-2

I can recomend you to use Rooney as Advanced Striker with no long shots, Dzeko - TargetMan Support and Gourcuff(no longshots) is owesome in midfield alongside Fletcher
