When you have a player (for example '22' years of age, SC, £40m value) how do you get them past that £40m mark?

Been re-training the positions of a few players to try and increase value etc but hardly any of them want to adapt.
I want to know when you have players up to £40m+ how do you raise their value even more - ie some players in other teams are valued at around £45m+ and I can't get even the likes...

I don't recommend anyone to start this game with a Premiership team as the games are the hardest to win - obviously. Just like a real life manager, start at the bottom and work your way up - plus you don't have the satisfaction of promotions etc which really make the game for me
