What i like to do is start unemployed and see which teams struggle. Teams i take on are average teams who have a decent squad but not playing to their potential like Real Sociadad in spain or Hoffenheim in Germany. I would consider taking on a bigger club but only if the manager makes allot of poor decisions like lose key players and dosent replace them well.

I've been playing since Champ Man 98-99 I believe and I have never started unemployed. I have randomly picked a lower level team I had some interest in, but I never stick with it long. I'm a big Man City and Inter fan, but I have a hard time playing with them because I don't want to sell off the players I like, even when I should. I am using United right now and had no issue at all getting rid of Rooney for $40.5 million.
 
Do you not find yourself getting over ran on the right hand side? I tried something like this but with a Treq instead of a SS, but I found the right side was exploited way to much.

it is decent, but i am conceding a lot , right side mostly every game results go like +3 goals each side
