4-5-1 Blueross - NEW UPDATE INC. KOFLOK IDEAS

Dear All FM-Basers,

This is my first tactic, so looking for testers/ advice....

I follow this forum with interest and have noticed the way to go with this FM so far appears to be 4-5-1.. I normally find other peoples tactics and adapt them for my particular team, but this time feel I may have found a good balance for a middle of the road team. Would love people to try it out with a variety of others. I am a Birmingham City fan (for my sins) and always aim to play with them. I added a couple of new faces, the best being Landon Donovan, but the team is ok, but nothing brilliant. I am currently 5th in the table and just beat my local rivals Villa 5-1 in the semi-final of the cup. Please let me know your thoughts....

BlueRoss

Edit - The players that have high stamina, pace, acceleration, strength work the best as they will get tired closing down all the time.

The team settings are set to standard, but I change it dependent on the opposition. I seem to create less chances but score more goals when set to attacking.

Edit - Please try out version 2.1 and let me know what you think. It seems to have cut out a few of the issues. There are less issues with long range shots and more CCC. A little more possession too. One recommendation is to ask the team to retain possession and choose your right central midfielder as your playmaker.

TWO NEW VERSIONS OF THIS TACTIC AVAILABLE.....

BlueRoss v. Koflok - Koflok and I have had a bit of a combined effort with this one.

BlueRoss v.4 - With thanks to various people who have enjoyed this tactic and offered improvements.

WOULD LOVE SOME TESTERS WITH THESE NEW VERSIONS

trying now, will post my 5 game stat, and im portsmouth

Great.... Thanks. The team do seem to create a lot of space and I have set the strategy to standard. I have just been adapting that depending on the quality of my opposition

drew 2-2 with scunthrope away i got a man sent off while 2-1 up :(
beat hull 2-1
drew 1-1 with cardiff away
i beat mkdons in the cup 1-0
destroyed off bristol city away 3-0 but also got a man sent off and they scored from that

overall the tactic for me is good, getting a decent amount of shots on goal and possesion, probably with a better team this tactic would be brilliant

Thanks mic.... It seems to have continues to work. I have just beaten Arsenal in the FA Cup Final and finished 5th in the league!! Let me know if you have a go with any other teams or you continue with it. Feel free to play around and let me know of any feedback for improvements.

Cheers

Still looking for people to try this tactic with different teams and different levels .... I think it is nearly there, but am very open to any changes you may think of.

Works like a charm!
My third season with Rosenborg (Norwegian)

8wins 0 draw 0losses
Champions cup final vs R Madrid.

Knocked out Man Utd-Man City and Barca to get there with this tac.

Hi mate, I'll give this a test with Spurs. I've been having a few problems so far getting going with Spurs, I can't seem to get a tactic that fits them like I did on FM10 (won PL in first season eventually.)

I'll start again and get back to you with how I got on when I've played 10 or so games.

Have been trying it for about half of the season with Arsenal. What is surprising is how simple this tactic really is, a basic 4-5-1 with inside forwards and no manual slider adjustments. So far have been winning majority of my games although not as convincingly as I would like (W19 D2 L3). Usually 2-0, 1-0 and the occasional 3-0. Still at least I'm winning and not conceding many :)

I noticed there were too many long shots being taken and so have manually adjusted long shots for the wings and two midfielders to 'Sometimes'. My striker doesn't seem to score too many goals and has missed quite a few 1v1s, I feel that there's scope for improvement here but not sure how. Main concerns are not creating enough chances, especially when playing away, and this sometimes can be problematic when I'm trailing a game. Have tried switching to 'Attacking' team strategy but with limited success.

On the positive side, I think the set pieces are well thought out and defensively this tactic seems to work (for me at least!). Overall, a solid tactic and with a bit more tweaking I think it should do well. Thanks for sharing!

ps) Do you set your MCR as a playmaker?

Thanks to all you testers and positive feedback. I will take your thoughts on board and tweak as necessary and post version 2.

Nocashboy - If you want to upload your version it would be great. With the minor adjustments you mention I think it could be a cracking tactic for middle/ top teams. I do set MCR as playmaker....

Cheers

I have a good assistant and let him take that. I have set it to squad blend and work on the tactic for next game. Let me know how you get on...

Thanks guys.... Really pleased with the response. I will keep adapting and tweaking and let you all know when new version arrives!!!

Game 1: Euro Cup vs. TPS
Won 3-0 (Torres, Babel, Donovan)
23 Shots (9 on Target)

Game 2: Euro Cup vs. TPS (Away Leg)
Won 3-0 (Lucas, Rodriguez, Wilson)
12 Shots (4 on Target)

Game 3: EPL vs Arsenal
Won 1-0 (Gerrard)
18 Shots (6 on Target)

Game 4: Euro Cup vs. SK Rapid Wien
Won 2-1 (N'gog, Lucas)
22 Shots (9 on Target)

Game 5: EPL @ Blackpool
Lost 0-1
17 Shots (1 on Target)
12 LONG DISTANCE SHOTS!!!!

Summary:

Seems like a good enough tactic in my brief experience to hold serve at home.....but the Attacking Mids take FAR to many long shots. I typically prefer to play with two strikers anyways....I will mix it up a bit and see if I have any new discoveries.

Thanks for all the responses. I am trying to look at ways to get more position and more CCC as opposed to all the long shots the team seem to take. I am hoping to have version 2 for you asap. Everyone who has tried this has had lots of success, and the thread has stayed relatively small, with a load of hype around some of the other not so successful tactics.

Worked Excelent :-D

Here is a picture of the match LOSC lille V.S Sporting CP
3-1 :-D]
