FALMOUTH CROWNED CHAMPIONS
In what was a up and down season Falmouth Town were finally crowned champions following a rather dull match with Penzance. The title win marks the first ever since the introduction of the South West Peninsula Premier Division back in 2007. The mastermind behind this success was Matthew King as he carried the club through many setbacks and to win the title with a side that many believed just to be chasing a top half finish is an incredible achievement. The season is not over yet though as they must contest a play-off to try and gain promotion to the ninth tier for the first time in the club's history.
SEASON REVIEW
A great season in what started so poorly, the title win was a relief as I had to constantly find replacements for players as due to amateur contract ruling players could just leave when they wished to do so. These changes also made it near impossible to keep good team spirit. Now looking forward to the play-off next month I fully expect to be victorious as I believe my team to be the strongest at this level.
EAST COWES VICTORIA 0 - 3 FALMOUTH TOWN A fantastic display of counter attacking football was enough for Falmouth to gain promotion. With Falmouth on the back foot for most of the game it would be of some surprise to the fans of East Cowes that there side have lost so convincingly. This victory for Falmouth ensures that they will be playing in the ninth tier for the first time ever.
Note: If anyone wants a season to test your buying or if you require a challenge this league is it as I have won many titles with big sides on Football Manager and I can honestly say this was the hardest I have had to fight for success
PS- I have started a story and need followers so when you have time could you have a look and see what you think. It is called Nightmare Turns into Dream
Manager Matthew King has just returned from his holidays following the success of getting Falmouth Town promoted and one of our reporters has managed to ask him a few questions:
Mr King, It is now just over a month until the new season what are your plans following your sides incredible promotion:
My initial plans are to become an established side in the new division.
Falmouth Town have now turned semi-professional could explain what this means to the club:
It means a lot, as last season because we were an amateur club, players could just come and go when they wanted to, but being semi-professional means we have more of a say of the future of our players.
Do you plan to invest in new players to ensure you are competitive in the coming season:
I will be investing in some new acquisitions, but i will only sign players that I feel will help the club progress.
Due to your fantastic season you have been in the news recently regarding the Cardiff City vacancy, is there a chance you may be departing the club in the near future:
Absolutely not, I have just signed a new deal to keep me at the club for a further 1 year which I intend to honour.
