A Star in the Making
1st July 2012
A young boys dreams came true today, as Liam Pinder signed a contract with FC Halifax Town. The Wakefield-born youngster had impressed scouts in the local youth leagues, and has apparently been on Halifax's radar for some time. The 14 year old can play up front or just behind the striker and has been praised for his strength on the ball and his finishing. While it is clear he has the potential to be great, it is up to the player to put in the hard yards during training and progress up the leagues. For now though, he has his sights on the Halifax first team.

This is my first ever story on here so go easy on me! If you have any suggestions please tell me. With special thanks to Pr1cey17 for inspiring me!

July
Pinder got his Halifax career off to a great start, scoring twice on his debut against Penrith in a pre-season friendly, narrowly missing out on 'Player of the Match'. However, the next friendly wasnt as successful but considering the team was a full strength Sunderland, a 2-0 loss was acceptable. Pinder quickly put things right, scoring 4 minutes in against Burton in an impressive 2-1 win.

August
Pinder started the month dissapointingly, failing to score against non-league Witton in a shock 3-2 defeat. Pinder had to wait for his competitive debut, left on the bench for Halifax's 1-1 draw with Bishop's Stortford. His full debut came the next game and in doing so became the youngest ever player to play in the Blue Square Premier North. This was however marred by the 2-1 loss to Colwyn Bay. The next game was infinitely better with Pinder scoring the first hat-trick of his career with his third coming from a spectacular overhead kick. The youngsters fine form continued as he got another goal in the 3-0 win over Bradford PA. The striker won two consecutive 'Player of the Match' awards in the final games of the month.

September
Pinder's third month at the club started brilliantlly. He managed to score twice against Oxford in a 3-0 win and managed to get a perfect 10.0 for his rating. He played well again in the matches against Chester and Hincley before scoring once more, when he scored the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Gloucester. The next game saw the youngster break two records in the 2nd Qualifying round of the FA Cup. He scored first in a 3-1 win over Eastwood which saw him become the youngest goalscorer and youngest player to play in the competition at 14 years 171 days. The month ended with a 1-1 draw with Histon, with Pinder having no impact.

October
This was the worst period in the young englishman's career, with him getting multiple poor ratings and some reaching as low as 5.6. During this time the striker rejected a contract with Halifax stating salary to be the main stumbling block. At the end of the month, there was some consolation. Despite being dropped, he came on to score a penalty which inspired Halifax to a 2-0 win and returning to playing to the high standards he set earlier in the season.

November
Pinder continued his refound form as he scored in the very next game, a 2-1 win v Guisley. He again impressed in the FA Trophy as he set up both goals in a 2-0 win against Chorley. He also became the youngest player to play in the FA Trophy. He then followed this up with two solid performances against Droylsden and Boreham Wood in the FA Trophy.

December
He then continued his form in the replay against Boreham Wood, putting in a Player of the Match performance and getting an assist to put his team through in the cup. The goals continued to flow as he got another against Solihull Moors. This was then followed by a drop in form for three games consecutively followed by another rejected contract. However, he recovered to score 4 in the last 3 games of the month, including a hatrick against Corby.

January
January was another dissapointing month for the young striker, not scoring throughout the whole month and even getting dropped towards the final games. This was surely a month to forget for the englishman and will hope to put it behind him and move on.

February
Although performances improved at the start of the month, Pinder still ended the month without a goal since last year. As his goal drought continued, his form began to drop and so did his confidence. He again rejected a deal with Halifax.

March
The month began with Pinder scoring Halifax's only goal in a disappointing 2-1 loss to Worcester. This was however a happy note for the player who ended a lengthy goal drought in that game. That goal inspired the striker to return to form, ending the month with 5 goals in 5 games. This included getting a brace in the 2-0 win over Workington which saw him reach 20 goals in all competitions.

April
April was a fantastic month for Pinder and his Halifax teammates, as the club won the Blue Square North for the first time in its history. While the first game of the month started with dissapointment, a 2-1 loss against Altrincham, the side got back on track by winning 3 games in a row to claim the league title. Pinder scored three times in this little run, including the one which guarenteed the championship. Pinder capped off his first piece of silverware by signing a pre-contract deal for when he becomes 17. Pinder put the icing on the cake of a fantastic debut season by scoring in the only goal in the last game of the season which saw the title oficially given to Pinder and his teammates. The youngster and his colleagues partyed well into the early hours of the morning after the result, with Pinder drinking Capri-suns due to him being only 15.

2012/2013 Season Review
It was a season to remember for 15 year old Liam Pinder, as he made his debut season for Halifax and as a professional player. He broke numerous records such as the youngest player to play for Halifax, in the league, the FA Cup and the FA Trophy. His efforts in front of goal were pivotal for Halifax's promotion push as they finished top of the table, giving the youngster his first taste of success. He scored 23 times in the league, putting him top of the scoring charts.

Pinder on his way out?
Rumours of Liam Pinder leaving the Shay have increased this week, as the young striker openly revealed his head had been turned by potential Premier League interest. He said 'It's the best league in the world and it's every players dream to play alongside the likes of Gerrard, Giggs and Lampard. Right now I am loyal to Halifax, they gave me a chance to play football and I will always be grateful for what they did for me.' The young striker has attracted attention from several clubs from higher division as he was the top scorer in the Blue Square North as the Shaymen go promoted last season. This was achieved at the tender age of just 15. Should the deal for Pinder materialise, Halifax will have to rely on veteran striker, Gareth Seddon.

Pinder Named in Halifax XI as Rumours Fly
Striker Liam Pinder has been announced as been in the Halifax XI, as speculation grows about his future. Premier League interest was confirmed as Neil Aspin, Halifax's manager, told local press that a bid had been received by the club from Wigan Athletic. Aspin also said that the deal was in the later stages and that Pinder is likely to go. Aspin wouldnt reveal any further details as he didnt want to disrupt any possible deal. Pinder was unnavailable to comment.

Pinder Signs on the Dotted Line
Wigan manager, Martin O'Neil revealed Liam Pinder to be his latest signing today as he looks to improve his squad for another inevitable relegation scrap. The 15 year old finished top scorer in the Blue Square North last year with 23 goals. He was signed from Halifax for an undisclosed fee, reportedly £130K. This will be seen as a steal for the Latics as the young striker has bags of potential. The media are already comparing him to Arouna Kone who is seen as a similar player. The young yorkshireman will be looking to fight with Kone, Simeon Jackson, Mauro Boselli, Franco di Santo, Nouha Dicko for a position up front which looks increasingly difficult as Wigan usually play with a lone striker. He has signed a deal until the end of 2016.

What do you guys reckon to the Wigan move? How do you think the story is going so far?

More Good News for Pinder
Just as Pinder gets settled at his new club, he will have to leave again. This is because his transfer to Wigan caught the eye of England's Under 19's Coach, Noel Blake, who has decided to takes risk with the young striker. Pinder will be hoping to get his first cap for his country, with many saying it will be the first of many in a successful international career. Pinder comes in just as the U19's European Championship starts, making it difficult to break into an established team. Pinder will be flying out to Lithuania with his teammates on Monday.

Please may you show his profile now? I want to catch the eye of the skill and value.
