So I've been playing a game as Manchester City. As most anyone knows, you get ridiculous transfer budgets as Man City, allowing you to buy up a load of talent.
I would just like to show my ridiculous example of this. I am currently beginning the 2013/2014 season of a Man City game and after the first two transfer periods, I really did not know who to even bother getting; I already had a starting 11 filled with my choice of players. I decided to go about essentially creating a second starting 11. Partly, this was just because I could, but obviously it does serve something of a purpose. With two world class players at every position, I can rotate each game, making sure that every player is always fully rested, even if I'm having two games in a week. Furthermore, injury becomes mostly a non-issue when you have a world class player to replace the injured one.
Here's my first team:
GK: Rene Adler
DL: Gareth Bale
DC: Giorgio Chiellini
DC: Gerard Pique
DR: Sime Vrsalijko
DM: Moussa Sissoko
CM: Paulo Henrique
AML: Eden Hazard
AMR: Alexis Sanchez
Striker: Edin Dzeko
Striker: Sergio Aguero
Here's my second team:
GK: Rene Adler
DL: Aleksandar Kolarov
DC: Mats Hummels
DC: Pepe
DR: Glen Johnson
DM: Yaya Toure
CM: Javier Pastore
AML: Neymar
AMR: Mario Balotelli
Striker: Romelu Lukaku
Striker: Carlos Tevez
Obviously the only position that I do not have two world class players in is goalkeeper. I did have Joe Hart as a back up, but he just left because his contract ended (and he wouldn't renew since I hadn't been playing him). However, I do actually have the money to buy a second world class keeper. I have 20 million pounds left, which could certainly buy a top keeper, I just don't see the point, as Adler starts every match at 100% fitness and goalkeepers rarely get injured. If he did happen to get a long-term injury, I would be able to use that money to get another top keeper though.
In any case, beyond those players, I also have Miralem Pjanic, Gareth Barry, Micah Richards, Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott, and Nedum Onouha, a very solid group of players who can cover if I somehow get both players of a given position injured (someone in that group can play every position well, except striker, and if I had to, I would just rotate Neymar or Balotelli to striker and replace them at AMR/AML with Pjanic or Barry).
I just think it's absurd how good of a team you can make with Man City. I fully expect this team to win the septuple this season. So far, I am 6 games into the season and they have beaten Real Madrid (4-0), Arsenal (2-0), Manchester United (2-1), Porto (3-0), Fulham (5-1) and West Brom (3-0).
My personal favorite though was a pre-season friendly match against Hyde. Obviously they're a very lowly team that Man City should beat by a good margin, but I just won 21-0!
I dont even know what I'm going to do next season with my transfer budget. I suppose I should go about finding replacements for aging players, but my team is really young. I might just try to buy Messi next year instead. Does anyone else have stories of a ridiculously good Man City squad?
