Some of you might remember a couple of my stories from FM14. I did one with Middlesbrough and then with Preston North End, where I had great success bringing youngsters into the first team and eventually winning the Premier League.
After not playing FM15 for a while due to my final year studies at university, I’ve been playing it quite a bit since graduating and have decided to make a story before the new game comes out in the near future.
The story will be with Ajax in the Eredivisie. I’ve been a big fan of the club for a number of years now and I am currently in the process of organising a trip out there to catch a game or two. I wrote this piece on De Toekomst a couple of years ago, and it’s time to try and create something similar on FM.

AFC Ajax: The Talent Goldmine

Amsterdamsche Football Club Ajax is a Dutch professional football club based in Amsterdam. Historically, Ajax (named after the legendary Greek hero) is the most successful club in the Netherlands, with 33 Eredivisie titles and 18 KNVB Cups.
It has continuously played in the Eredivisie, the Dutch football top division, since its inception in 1956 and, along with PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord, it is one of the country's "big three" clubs that have dominated that competition.
Ajax is historically one of the most successful clubs in the world; according to the IFFHS, Ajax were the seventh-most successful European club of the 20th century.
The club is one of the five teams that has earned the right to keep the European Cup and to wear a multiple-winner badge; they won consecutively in 1971–1973.
In 1972, they completed the continental treble by winning the Eredivisie, KNVB Cup, and the European Cup. Ajax's last international trophies were the 1995 Intercontinental Cup and the 1995 Champions League, where they defeated Milan in the final; they lost the 1996 Champions League final on penalties to Juventus.
Ajax is also one of three teams to win the continental treble and the Intercontinental Cup in the same season/calendar year; This was achieved in the 1971–72 season.
Ajax, Juventus, Bayern Munich, and Chelsea are the four clubs to have won all three major UEFA club competitions. They have also won the Intercontinental Cup twice, the 1991–92 UEFA Cup, as well as the Karl Rappan Cup, a predecessor of the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 1962.

As previously mentioned, Ajax are one of the most successful clubs in the world. They have amassed 33 Eredivisie titles, 18 Dutch Cups, 8 Dutch Super Cups, 4 European Champions Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 2 Intercontinetal Cups, 1 European Cup Winners Cup and 1 Euro Cup.
Their most successful spell as a club came in the 1990s’ when they won 5 Eredivisie titles, 3 Dutch Cups, 3 Dutch Super Cups, 1 European Champions Cup, 1 Euro Cup and 1 European Cup Winners Cup.
Hopefully I’ll be able to repeat the success of the 1990’s and bring some European success back to the Amsterdam Arena over the next few seasons.

Facilities
View attachment 952703
As you can see from the above screenshot, Ajax have some of the best facilities in the world so I don’t think I’ll ever have to upgrade them. The only problem I could see is that they are paying nearly £4million a year rent on the Amsterdam Arena, so it might be worth looking into purchasing in the future if I ever want to upgrade the stadium.
De Toekomst is perhaps the best youth academy in the world so I’m looking forward to seeing what talent is produced from there in the youth intake. The good thing about Ajax as well is that they attract decent youngsters from around the world so it will be interesting to see who I can bring in.

Squad
View attachment 952702
The squad is already well-balanced with players being able to play in a number of positions. At the moment, it doesn’t need to be heavily invested in due to the high standard of the squad already as well as the mix of young players that will be involved with the first team during the season.
I believe the following four players to be the spine of the team and the rest will be fit in around them:

Jasper Cillessen

Joel Veltman
View attachment 952696
Davy Klaassen

Arkadiusz Milik
The first team also has a number of top prospects which I’ll be looking to utilise throughout the season in the domestic cups and some of the league games. All three are in the first team already for a reason and they’ll probably be starters come 2015/16, especially Zivkovic.

Thanks for reading the opening post! It was a bit long winded but I always believe you need a good introduction. For future updates, I’ll be doing the following:

Mid-Season Update
Winter Transfer Window
Youth Intake
End of Season Review
Thanks again!
