Spartans Draw with Berwick - 12/07/10
Yestaday afternoon, Blyth Spartans played their first pre-season friendly against scottish opposition in Berwick Rangers. The team brought 16 fans down who made asmuch noice as possible but the Spartan fans out numbered them with their singing. It kicked off at 3:00 and it as very quiet to start with. The first goal of the game came on 26 minutes from Leandro Scartascini, he took on the last defender and buried it into the net. Nothing else important happened in that half. With a couple of changes during the break, the second half kicked off. Again it took a while to get started. On 68 minutes Adam Warlow picked up the ball and was charged down by Paul McMullan. He needed the strecher to get him off. And right when the fans beleived that Spartans would win, Berwick on the attck and Ian Little passed into and open goal. That was the last attack of the game. It finished Blyth 1 Berwick 1.

Steve is the brother of Everton's Phil Jagielka and plays in the centre of midfield. Soulsby said that he beleives that Steve will be a key player at the club. Reports are that a Newcastle United reserve player could be joining the club soon.
McCrudden Joins Blyth On Loan - 15/07/10
Blyth Spartans have been searching through the leagues for a decent, young midfielder and they have found that player. Michael McCrudden of Newcastle's reserve side is the club's 7th signing of the campaign. He is a right winger who can produce a leefal cross into the box. He will be at Blyth for a season loan and will join back up with the Toon at the end of the season. McCrudden is only 19 and is still improving so it will be an idea to keep an eye on the lad.
Blyth Enter "Random League" - 16/07/10
Blyth Spartans have successfully got themselves into a mini league against high known teams Hull, Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday. They will all play eachother over the next few days. This will bring money into Blyth and is reports that these games are to be televised. Blyth are to play Hull first followed by Wolves ,then the Wednesday.
Spartans Get Clawd By Hull - 17/07/10
With Blyth Spartans entering a mini league they are playing huge teams and yestaday it seemed to be recently relegated Hull City. They have brought 500 fans and the TV camera's with them. And it's no suprise who took the lead. Kamel Ghilas, who was reprosented Algeria 23 times scored past James Cope on 2 minutes. Blyth new that they wouldn't win as soon as the sqaud was released. And Hull made it 2-0 on 36 minutes with a goal from Aron Gunnarsson of Iceland placed it into the net. Half time came and Blyth almost changed a full sqaud. Nothing at all appeared in the second half and it ended only 2-0. The 3000 Blyth fans will be happy with there performance against Championship standard team.
Spartans Killed by Wolves - 18/07/10
Next up for Blyth was Premier League's Wolves. The team looked like they ment business and that just what happened. It took a while for the game to get started but it was know doubtly Wolves who took the lead. Michael Knightly chipped the keeper and into the net. When it got to half time it was 2-0. Richard Stearman had hit the net on 40 minutes. Wolves and Blyth made a few changes and the second half was off. And on 57 minutes, Wolves had made sure of a win. Sylvan Ebanks-Blake hammered it passed the keeper and into the bottom corner, 3-0. It was 4 on 74 minutes from a goal of Andrew Surman. Kyle Bennett made it 5 on 77 minutes and that was the torchure over for Blyth. They were well and truley beaten. Lets hope that Sheffield doesnt do the same.
Blyth Beat Wednesday - 19/07/10
To score a goal against these teams looked impossible for Blyth. Going into there last game of the league in bottom position, they didnt really predicted they could do anything. But the game kicked off like usual and by suprise Blyth took the lead. On 9 minutes, Adam Warlow took on the whole defence and finished into the net. Spartan fans were going mental as they scored. All 2500 of them. But that lead didnt last so long. Andrew Yates shot from distance on 26 minutes to equal it out. And Wednesday took the lead with a goal from Marcus Tudgay. As the teams where starting to calm down for the break, new signing Laurence Wilson was pegging it down the line, Robbie Dale placed it infront of him and he shot on the volley and it smashed into the Wednesday net. The stadium erupted in cheers as Spartans had pulled back level for the break. The second half wasnt as near exciting but late on, a Blyth under 18 player was brought on. A corner was given and he rose up from the crowd and headed the ball out of the air and into the back of the net. Spartans had the lead on 83 minutes. The Wednesday fans had their heads in there hands. Michael Soulsby was going mental as his team had almost beaten a Championship team. The final whisle went and a huge cheer rippled around the ground as Blyth Spartans of the Blue Sqaure North had beaten Sheffield Wednesday of the Championship. Fantastic.
Blyth Make it Nine Now - 21/07/10
After the other days magical game against Sheffield Wednesday, Blyth have been attracting people to join that team and that's what they have done. Former Gateshead defender Carl Jones and Marine defedner Michael Jackson signed for the club that night. Carl Jones is a young strong defedner who will play along side Snowdon at the back. Michael Jackson who the Spartans payed £6k for is also a strong defender who has played top level welsh football for TNS. They both are fantastic players who the supporters hopefully will enjoy watching.
Carl Jones - Gateshead
Blyth are Beaten - 21/07/10
Spartans traveled down to Yorkshire to play Durham City today and they where met by a shocking supprise. The sandwitchs which were made by Tony Kennedy had made the players sick and feeling ill. But they had just arrived and the team bus was like a rolling hospital. But they managed to get enough players to start against Durham. The boys could hardly run and Durham took the lead on 28 minutes after a run from Ian Jukes. With no subs on the bench, Blyth couldnt do anything at half time. The game started again but nothing was happening. And it ended a victory for Durham City. There was nothing Blyth could do but pack up and leave to get treated when they got home.
Blyth Head-To Stockport - 22/07/10
After the illness through the Blyth's game against Durham has cleared, they all traveled down the country (without Tony's sandwitchs) to Stockport. We put out a full sqaud and so did they. Only one goal won the game and it came from Stockport's Danny Worsfold 30 minute strike. Blyth tried really hard to get something back but didnt get enough possesion. The Spartan lads wont be too disopointed as they only just lost. They can now look forwards to play Glenn Hoddles spainish Academy back at Croft Park in three days.
Spartans Score Four - 25/07/10
The north east side have had a 3 day break after there Stockport day. Glenn Hoddles Academy was playing them this afternoon. With no fans, Glenn Hoddle had to motovated his team himself but the Spartan fans made noice so that they couldnt hear him. Scartascini took the lead for Blyth on 36 minutes with a lovley placed finish. Half time passed and Glenn's team equalised. Castro went around the keeper and finished. Robert Dale took back the lead on 62 minutes and extended it again on 74 minutes with 2 lovley chips over the struggling keeper. New signing Carl Jones made it 4-1 on 82 minutes with a header cleared from a corner. Glenn's side pulled one back on 90 minutes but that didnt matter, Blyth had won.
Nuneaton Defeat from Spartans - 30/07/10
Blyth Spartan's last game was at home to Nuneaton. Only 140 fans turned up to the game. Blyth took the lead on 32 minutes from Ivan Tomatula, who had just came back from a World Cup injury for Congo. Nuneaton equilised on 50 minutes from Chris Dillon and took a lead on 58 minutes from Neil Gough. Spartans where back level on 73 minutes from a own goal. Adam Warlow took the lead on 82 minutes and extedned it in the last kick off the game. Blyth had won 4-2 again at home. This hopefully will bring confindence for the league which starts next week.
Blyth Spartans first game of the season is at home to local rivals Workington which should attract a decent crowd. Reports of the August news will be on the next update.
