SUMMARY

This month saw us lose 2 games so it was not a good month but on the good side we retained the title. We have a bit of work to do in order to make the Champions League final but I fancy our chances at home against anyone.

My former player Alejandro Rivero, who scored the winner against us against Barcelona felt so guilty that he is going to rejoin us in the summer as I have agreed to buy him for 6.25m.

SUMMARY

We won every game this month so we wrapped up the season successfully. Winning the Spanish Cup took a lot of effort but in the Champions League we demolished Real Madrid to win our 4th successive Champions League.

Our victory in the Spanish Cup final means that we have won the competition more than anyone else.

An end of season post will follow and then I will post a 10 year review and also a post showing my squad player by player before the start of next season.

END OF SEASON REVIEW

Season number 10 is over and it was almost a hugely successful one. Sure we won every competition available but ultimately we failed to score 150 goals in the league and we also failed to go the whole season unbeaten in the Liga BBVA.

In the league we started off by winning our first 22 league games and ended up only losing once, to Barcelona, which annoyed me greatly. We broke the goals scored record (140) and the points record (107).

We retained the Copa del Rey by scoring a record number of goals and in the Champions League we won it for the 4th time in a row. Having said that we were unbeaten in the competition for 49 games before we lost our first leg of the semi final against FC Porto.

My B side made a poor start to the season but ended up finishing in a play-off spot in the Liga Adelante while my youth team showed my first team how to score 150 goals in the league as they notched up 165 goals in their 38 games!!!

Player wise the standout performers were Iker up front who scored more goals than games played while the likes of Griezmann, Muniain and Guillermo all excelled as usual. Jon Ander Olaizola was the surprise package of the season and he looks as though he will be a star for many years to come.

I have pretty much already done my transfer business for the summer already - just a day after the Champions League final so this summer should be a quiet one.

Finally my player values have rocketed up - Guillermo is at 51m (15m more than before) while some of my backups are hugely valued - Alfonso at 33m and even Jon Ander Olaizola at 19.75m!!!!!

Following the story yet again from all the back to FM 12. Just wondering are you still using the mighty 4-2-3-1 tactic as i have tried to use it in this years version but have had no luck. Any chance of a few screenies and shouts to help out abit.

What league are you using the formation in. I have been able to have a considerable amount of success in the spanish league with a very similar formation but I have found it impossible to use the formation in other countries like england or germany. I think in a country like spain where there arent many physical midfielders playing dlp's in the middle can work but against teams that will play 2 bwm or anchor men it is much harder for them to dominate the midfield week after week.

Ander was once the key to my side as when he played AMC he was banging in 20 goals a season but he got moved back to MC due to the emergence of Guillermo and his goals and assists tally has suffered. I would love him to get 100 goals but that is unlikely now but the club legend is great for tutoring my young midfielders. One of the 3 players who were at the club before me and had his testimonial last season.

Still to decide whether he will be a first pick this season.

Just a few here!!! Galan was in the first team squad but didnt develop enough for my liking. He made 64 apps and scored 3 times. I expect Ruben to make the step up in the future and I am also keeping an eye on Jon Ugarte, Xabier Goiria, Pepe Perez and Iban Ibanez.

Ramos is apparently our top prospect and I think he will bypass the B team and jump straight into the first team when the time comes. Patxi Olaizola is a decent prospect and wants to join his two brothers in the first team squad.

Fermin is an amazing player but has never managed to become a first pick although he is probably going to replace Muniain on the LW in the future. Although naturally a striker he usually plays on the LW when he gets a start. Similar with my LBs I cant split Garrido and Iker but Iker got the chance first and has kept his place.

PRE-SEASON REPORT/AUGUST

So after all those posts I can now start season no.11 and I am still hunting for my new Aitor even though 11 players in my first team squad have came through my youth development system. During the summer I was offered the chance to become the new manager of Real Madrid which I rejected naturally.

The board decided to give me a pathetic transfer budget of 625m lol and I spent 10m of it and thought that was a bit too much!!!!!

Alejandro Rivero returns to the club for just over 6m and will be competing for a first team pick while I signed Jaime Ruiz for 2.4m and both came in from Barcelona. I brought Joseba back to the club as he was available on a free transfer and he will join the B team.

PLAYERS OUT

The main departure was Jorge Espericueta who left to join Norwich City for 10m. He was decent enough for me but I have several decent youngsters coming through and decided to cash in on him. He made 106 apps and scored 5 goals. My backup keeper Jon Aranburu left to join Zenit St. Petersburg for a half price 2.5m deal.

I also sold a couple of B team players for big bucks. David (9.75m) and Tarantino (5m) both joined Wolfsburg. David made 16 first team appearances and 192 for the B team in his 9 years with us and is a good player while Tarantino scored 3 goals in 18 games for the first team and appeared 162 times for the B team.

Patxi Nieto left to join Real Betis for 1.5m after 107 appearances and 5 goals. It is very much a case of what could have been with Nieto as he is a decent player and technically excellent but the 2 long term injuries he got as a youngster stunted his development physically.

SUMMARY

So new to the first team is Rivero and my backup keeper Beorlegui while Unai Aranburu keeps his place in the squad after breaking through in the latter part of last season. I think I am going to give Rivero a nod ahead of Martin and Lucas to replace Espericueta in central midfield.

I put them in the first team so the money goes into the first team and not the B team. The values never change until they move so I offer them out for silly money at the start to see if anyone bites and then go down to their value but I have been diddled a few times.

David was valued at 4.1m, sold for 9.75m and valued now at 12.5m
Sold Aizpurua ages ago for 2m shot up to 6m now valued at 17m!!!!
Tarantino was valued at 3m, sold for 5m now valued at 3.5m
