American Premier League Chairman Game - Story

News coming out of 'The Seaside Stadium' is that QIA owned club the Islanders have signed Julian Green from Bayern Munchen in a 4.4m deal. After a mixing up of paperwork, confusing the young star for Monchegladbach's right back Fabian Johnson it has been confirmed by sources close to Ahmad al Sayed that it is infact Julian Green who has signed for the club. The young USA starlet reportedly felt homesick, and is said to be ecstatic about joining his new club. Howeverm is also seems this youngster, aged 18 has been given the Islanders single marquee contract. Time will tell on whether this pays off. More news on Islanders transfers coming up...

Chicago Ducks entering the new era

Another team entered the race to become the best team in USA named Chicago Ducks under the wing of England legend George Best! Here we have a press conference of the announcement.

Press: Welcome to the US Mr Best and congratulations on owning Chicago Ducks! What has the future for this club and can it go far?

Best: Thanks, but why do you think I have started up a club if I thought I couldn't take them to the very top? This club will do well in my hands I will make sure of it.

Press: I'm sorry, didn't mean to offend. What has made you come to the US and join the challenge?

Best: The USA is a funny place, people see it as a retirement home for the older, more experienced players but I want to turn that around and help turn this league into a top league people really want to watch.

Press: Do you have any players/staff lined up for your club as of yet?

Best: I do have a long list of players and staff which I want to bring in with me but being over 14hours left on the transfer deadline I doubt I'd get half the players I wanted. But **** to it, it was a good night on the town and well worth it.

Press: You saying you missed out on the deadline because you went out on the town? What do you think your fans will think of that excuse?

Best: What do I care? They will come watch us nonetheless! We will become the best with or without the fans, if they don't like the way I run it they can do watch some other boring team in the league. You know what, this interview is over I got some girls to go meet.

*Best walks out of the press room*

Denver Dragons Squad Announcement

Today, the Denver Dragons are extremely pleased to announce their preliminary squad for the forthcoming season of the American Premier League.

Chairman Chris Kamara announced a short statement before the squad list was announced:
View attachment 288070
We are extremely happy to have been able to gather such a a talented bunch of players on such a tight budget. Having to comply with the Second Division regulations gave us very little room in negotiations, but I believe we have gathered a squad capable of beating any team in the American Franchise on their day. I do apologize to the Portuguese league, as we have raided them for loads of talented players, but fans of American Soccer should be thrilled with what we've managed to bring across the Atlantic.

The following Squad was announced.

Goalkeeper:
View attachment 288069
Quentin Westberg (27): A former Clairfontaine Academy and Paris Saint-Germain youth player, Quentin arrives on a free transfer to be our #1 in goal. He is an experienced stopper that will give us solidity at the back. He also has u20-caps for the USA.

Defence:

View attachment 288034View attachment 288033View attachment 288009View attachment 288008

Four players have been brought in under the foreign quota, three of them are established players from the Portugese league.

Paulo Oliveira (22): A towering centre-back formerly of Sporting Lisbon. Oliveira will dominate in the air and be a rock at the back. He has numerous caps for the Portugese u21-side, and will surely make the step up to the full side in the years to come.

Lisandro Ezequiel Lopez (24): Another giant at the back. Lisandro arrives from Benfica after spending last year on loan at Getafe. He will make a dominant pairing with Oliveira, and be dangerous going forward! Has been capped 4 times for Argentina.

Cedric Soares (22): Cedric arrives as our second most expensive signing, but should still be considered a coup! He will bomb up and down the right back and contribute offensively as well as defensively. He is another signing from Sporting Lisbon, and has 2 national caps for Portugal.

Denis Polyakov
(22): Denis will be our first choice left back. He arrives from Bate Borisov in the Belarusian league. A very solid defender that can cover all across the back line. He has 10 national caps for Belarus.

Denver Dragons are also proud to announce the following American defenders:

Aaron Pitchkolan (30): Another strong CB from Minnesota United.

Parker Walsh (22): A LB, formerly of Karlsruhe in Germany. He arrives on a free transfer.

Justin Morrow (26): Left footed centreback arriving from Toronto.

Zach Scott (33): An experienced right back who can also cover at centreback. Zach is brought in from Seattle.

Kevin Ellis (22): A really quick fullback capable of playing both on the right and left. He arrives from Sporting Kansas.

Central Midfield:
View attachment 288018View attachment 288017View attachment 288016View attachment 288015

Youth is definitely a factor considered in the Dragons CM spot.

Marius Lundemo (19): A tall, powerful midfielder who has already established himself at Lillestrøm in the Norwegian Premier Division. Marius can only get better and will dominate the centre of the park in years to come.

Jhon Arango (15): At only 15, Jhon is our youngest recruit. He may be skinny, but he is one of the biggest talents on the South American stage for years. The Colombian will get some chances to impress already, and will develop into a huge star.

André Martins (23): André is our third recruit from Sporting Lisbon. He is a technically gifted playmaker that can pick a pass as good as any player in the top leagues in Europe. Already a Portugese international, André will be one to watch in the second division this year.

Grzegorz Krychowiak
(23): Grzegorz arrives from Sevilla to add solidity to the centre of the park. Having plied his trade in France for several years, he is already a well known powerhouse, and a Polish international.

View attachment 288020View attachment 288019

Denver have also signed the following American midfielders:

Kevin Durr (22): A box-to-box midfielder that has spent his youth years in Leverkusen and Bayern Munich. He arrives on a free transfer.

Marc Pelosi (19): A talented youngster arriving from Liverpool. Marc can play in the centre as well as left side of the midfield.

Wingers:
View attachment 288007

Samu (23): Arrives as our only foreign winger. He was signed by Chelsea at the age of 14, but turned back home to Spain after a couple of years. Now he arrives in Denver from Malaga. He is a tricky winger, capable of playing anywhere up front.

View attachment 288028View attachment 288027View attachment 288026

Donnie Smith (23): A quick winger that arrives from New England, after being on loan at Doncaster. He will mainly play down the left.

Fafá Picault (22): A tricky winger arriving from Sparta Prague. He can play down the right, in the centre or up front. Fafa is a very entertaining dribbler to watch, and will surely entertain the fans during the season.

Devann Yao (23): Devann is another pacy winger, arriving from Naustrelitz in Germany. He can cover both sides.

Forwards:
View attachment 288046

The Denver Dragons are thrilled to announce our main striker, most expensive signing, and only marquee player:

Vincent Aboubakar (22): Vincent is a complete forward that can do it all. He is strong and lightning quick. He can finish as well as shoot from distance. He can head and create. We have high hopes that Vincent will shoot us to promotion this season. He arrives for a hefty sum from FC Porto, and is already an established player. He has already got 27 caps to his name, and will be a star for the Dragons in years to come.

View attachment 288032View attachment 288031View attachment 288029

Aboubakar will be supported by the following Americans:

Aaron Schoenfeld (23): A strong target-man arriving from Columbus.

Matthew Taylor (32): An experienced poacher arriving from Saarbrücken in Germany.

Adam Ozeri (15): A very promising forward, who arrives from Cornelia in Spain.

To sum up, chairman Chris Kamara gave another short statement.

I have complete faith in this squad to achieve our goals this season. We have achieved a perfect mix between youth and experience, and will be able to assemble a very strong starting 11. You will probably see some movement in the coming days in terms of goalkeepers, as we have only named one for now, but except from that, I don't see any more additions arriving.

The Islanders Announce Team
The chairman of the islanders, Ahmad al Sayed has finally announced the players and staff of the club on the official website.

Goalkeepers
View attachment 287433
204px-Camilo_Andres_Vargas.jpg

From left to right: Bush, Vargas.
Camilo Vargas - 24 - Unattached - Colombian - Senior Star - 3 years
Bringing a wealth of playing experience from Colombia (and 2 goals!) the excellent goalkeepers' fledgling international career will hopefully explode while at the Islanders.
Evan Bush - 27 - Montreal Impact - 245,000 - American - Developmental
While only a backup keeper, he has proven himself more then capable of being just that while at Montreal.

Defenders
Central Defence

From left to right: Perea, Olave, Ferraz, Jimenez, Sarr, Aurelien, Hernandez
Luis Perea - 34 - Unattached - Colombian - Senior Star - 1 year
Bringing experience from clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Boca Juniors and Medellin, Vargas' team mate with 75 Colombia caps can also play on the right. While he is old, he is still extremely fast and will continue playing for a little while yet.
Jamison Olave - 32 - Real Salt Lake - 115,000 - Colombian/American - Developmental
Part of a Colombian defensive quartet - although his dual US nationality makes him invaluable - Jamison is one of the top MLS defenders, weighing an intimidating 96kg. Shockingly, he is yet to receive a cap for either the US or Colombia.
Matheus Ferraz - 28 - Unattached - Brazilian - Senior Star - 5 years
Al sayed has placed his trust in the Brazilian centre back, giving him a 5 year contract. Cynics suggest this was due to the cap on senior players, but nevertheless the Santos youth product is a solid player.
Diego Jimenez - 27 - Unattached - Mexican/American - Senior star - 2 years
Some Americans might remember him for his brief loan spell at the Red Bulls, but otherwise he has had a fairly uneventful career in Mexico. His dual citizenship and ability to play on the left, however make him valuable to the team.
Naby Sarr - 20 - Sporting (Portugal) - 315,000 - French/Senegalese - Senior player
This 6'5" french prospect may have only played two senior games (for Olympique Lyonnais in his homeland)
but is definitely one to watch - and some might argue merits a place in the 1st team.
Aurelien Collin - 27 - Orlando City - 850,000 - French/American - Senior player
Having played at Sporting Kansas city for most of his career, his name will be familiar to many Americans. Again, his dual citizenship is invaluable, and he is expected to be a solid backup player.
Jason Hernandez - 30 - New York - 180,000 - American - Senior Player
No less then the 7th central defender for the Islanders, Jason Hernandez joins from New York, with a good playing career for the San Jose Earthquakes to his name.

Left Backs
View attachment 287395View attachment 287394
From left to right: Correa, Requejo
Andres Correa - 19 - Seattle (On loan at Fortaleza) - 135,000 - Colombian - Developmental
Rounding off the Colombian defensive quartet, despite having only 4 caps to his name at medellin, Colombian youth prospect Correa is expected to be the Islanders' main left back.
John Requejo - 17 - Xolos Tijuana - 45,000 - American/Mexican - Senior player
The young american, playing in Mexico is a steal at 45k, is expected to challenge Correa for a first team spot.

Right Backs
View attachment 287393 View attachment 287390
left to right: Riley, Gallego
James Riley - 31 - Unattached - American - Senior player - 3 years
A solid right back, who can also play on the left, Riley has drifted between MLS clubs, but the Islanders have placed their faith in him.
Bryan Gallego - 20 - Unattached - American - Developmental - 3 years
Despite never having a senior appearance in his career, faith has been placed in the young right back, who also doubles as a central defender.
To Be Continued....

From left to right: Flores, Green, Villafana
Junior Flores - 17 - Borussia Dortmund - 356,000 - American/Salvadoran - Senior Player
After playing for Bradenton Academics, the youngster moved to Borussia Dortmund, where he was extremely promising but failed to start a senior game. Buoyed back to the US by homesickness and a desire to play, he is one to watch. Able to play on the left or right, but also as an attacking mid, his versatility should prove useful.
Julian Green - 18 - Bayern Munchen - 4,400,000 - American - Marquee
As the Islanders marquee signing, and also only player over 1 million pounds, a lot of responsibility has been placed on the 18 year old's shoulders. However, with 3 US caps and a goal to his name already, as well as experience with one of the worlds biggest clubs, it seems likely he will live up to expectations. Again, like Flores able to play anywhere in the attacking third, including striker!
Jorge Villafana - 24 - Portland Timbers - 400,000 - American/Mexican - Senior player
Able to play anywhere on the left, including in defence, the American brings some much needed experience to the left side of the pitch. Expected to play second fiddle to his younger counterpart Green, he is nevertheless an excellent player.

Left To right: Thomas, LaBrocca, Torales, Cronin, Jacobson
Hendry Thomas - Unattached - 28 - Honduran - Senior Star - 2 years

After a long time at Wigan, midfielder Thomas played with the Colorado Rapids and Dallas United here in the US before being released after a knee injury. With 52 Honduran caps, and a solid playing career the midfielder brings many years of experience to the fold.
Nick LaBrocca - Unattached - 29 - American - Senior player - 2 years
A good playing career with Colorado, he can also play on the right. Solid, and unexceptional.
Silvio Torales - Pumas - 600,000 - 22 - Paraguayan - Senior Star
Expected to be the Islanders creative hub in the centre of midfield (although, like LaBrocca he can fill in on the right) Torales, at 22 and with 2 Paraguay caps already is expected to get even better.
Sam Cronin - Colorado - 625,000 - American - Senior Player
See LaBrocca. Unspectacular in central midfield, decent defensively.
Andrew Jacobson - NYFC - 525,00 - American - Senior Player.
See above.
Right Midfield

Left to right: Gera, Mullan, Perez
Zoltan Gera - Ferenvacos - 92,000 - 34 - Hungarian - Senior Player
Well known in England for an impressive career at Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, he has 72 Hungary caps to his name, and can play on the right left, or as an attacking mid.
Brian Mullan - Unattached - 35 - American - Senior Player - 1 year
Well known by MLS fans, perhaps for having the longest ban in MLS history for a stamp on Steve Zakuani, this journeyman winger will be looking for one last Hurrah on a one year contract at the Islanders.
Omar Perez - Santa Fe - 15,000 - 32 - Argentinian - Senior Player
Interestingly, the inclusion of Perez means that the Islanders have no natural right midfielder over 30, with experience seemingly being preferred rather then the youth on the left of midfield. Vargas' former teammate, Perez boasts and impressive playing career in Colombia.
Attacking Midfielders
View attachment 287221View attachment 287220
Left to right: Roldan, Fagundez
Note: while it may seem we are lacking in the AMC postion, almost all our players double there
Cristian Roldan - Seattle Sounders - 625,000 - 18 - American - Senior Player
The former University ofWashington man looks to be one of the most promising Americans out there, quickly securing him a first round pick to Seattle. Able to play further back in midfield, but more of an attacking player, he is one to watch.
Diego Fagundez - New England Revolution - 500,000 - 18 - Uruguayan/American - Senior Player
Fagundez would be a real coup if the American national team secured his loyalty. An excellent attacking player, with 57 appearances for New England at just 18.
Strikers
View attachment 287216View attachment 287214View attachment 287213View attachment 287209
From right to left: Mullins, Campos, Lafata, Tall
Maki Tall - LOSC Lille - 126,000 - 18 - French/Malian/American - Developmental
Born in Washington DC, but living in France, Maki has been hailed as the new Didier Drogba. Practically unheard of out of Lille, it is very impressive that The Islanders scouts managed to find a french american Didier Drogba - alike.
Pablo Campos - Minnesota United - 170,000 - 30 - Brazilian/American - Developmental
Some more astute soccer fans might know him as a journeyman striker, wandering around the lower leagues - but scoring goals nevertheless. Expected as a backup to Lafata, that is a role he will perform well.
Patrick Mullins - NYFC - 550,000 - 21 - American - Senior Player
Formerly Fagundez's team mate at New England (although he never played a senior game) Mullins is expected to challenge Lafata, and at 21 he can only get better.
David Lafata - Sparta Prague - 250,000 - 32 - Czech - Senior Star
The Islander's star striker, lafata has had an impressive playing career in the Czech Republic, proving himself to be a prolific goalscorer. At only 250k, he is an absolute steal.

Spurs announce first signings!

Brad Friedel has today announced the first players to join under his regime. It looks as if he has gone for foriegn marquee signings before filling his squad up with Americans. This is what he had to say.

" I am delighted to announce that these players will be playing under our new manager who is soon to be announced. As you can see I have managed to get former Spurs players Luke Young and Benoit Assou Ekotto. These two players will provide competition for the left back spot as well as being a vital part in tutoring youngsters. The other position that I happy to say is complete is the Strikers. I have two veterans in the shape of Mutu and Klasnic to fight it out to play alongside our star striker Jo. I hope Jo can show why Man City paid the money they did for him and he should take the league by storm. I have also completed the signings of defenders Branislave Trajkovic and American Frank Simek. These two arrive on a free and should help mould my defence into something strong. The last player to announce is centre midfielder, Jack Collison. Having seen him play for West Ham I know he has something to offer this club and I am delighted to announce the signing.

After all this as you can see I only have American in the squad which is something i need to address. Hopefully next time you hear from me I will have some more transfer news and a new Manager to boot."

So there you have it, 8 signings of which 7 of them have played in the Premier league. Are they past it? or is this a stroke of genius from Friedel. Stay tuned to find out more!
