An Indian Quest - club and country.

The Plan:

  • Win international honours with club and country
  • Dominate Asia with both teams
  • Find an Indian Messi (might settle for an Indian Heskey if it goes that way)

The Teams:

  • The national team has had a high ranking of... 94 despite 1.2 billion people to choose from
  • They have won 2 golds in the Asian games and an AFC challenge cup so not much history.
  • East Bengal (the club team I will be using) have had the joint longest stint in the top flight in India with 3 league championships, but have had limited continental success.
It will be tough and in truth I may get sacked before completed but onwards and upwards, first aim is to dominate India with the club.

I see what you're going for.
India have massive untapped potential (IRL), but somebody has to be willing to take football to the grassroots level and commericialise it as well.

good luck!

Will be Following this.....The Problem for U will be that India unfortunately wont Produce the Regens as In Other Countries which will only make this More Harder...Anyways Mate Good Luck with this

Indian update
We go straight into competitive play and struggle in the ACC. The monumental task becomes apparent.
Goalkeeper is apparently not a position in India. BUT despite it allwe get a win.

Asian Challenge cup

Pakistan6 v 4 India
Miranda, Rodrigues, Chhetri (2)

India0 v 2 Nepal

HongKong 1 v 2 India
Roy (pen), Singh

In all honesty I am pleased with the attacking potential of the team. As stated above we need a goalkeeper who can catch, cost us a point against Pakistan. In the end we finished bottom of the group with Hong Kong and Nepal going through.

Player of the tournament:

Mainly due to 2 goals in 2 games for us.

Also ignore the attachment (I failed and added the wrong one to begin with)

East Bengal Update

I was going to update this after pre-season but it turns out I don't really have one. So here goes.

Best Players:

We have the trio of Nigerians to hold the squad together, by far the best in the team.

Best Youth Player:

Seen as though we will be concentrating on building up Indian Football I thought I would show you the best Youth prospect too, not great but might get some game time for club and country in the not too distant future.

Honourable Mention:
Goes to this guy, might get a run in the national team if Goalkeeping issues remain.

Our aim for the season is continental qualification and with only one place in the league and one in the cup (unless they are the same winner) we need to hit the ground running.

And the season beginsssss.

We start competitive play with a win. 2 of the 3 Nigerians alreadywant to leave. 7 Goal thriller in the cup. Cup progression comes downto goal difference! A lot of work to do with the national side.

I managed to scrape in a friendly before the season started and as you can see it was pretty comfortable. A shaky defence against the weaker teams in the cup cost us but I was pleased with the display against United SC

Player of the month goes to Singh Sahni. 2 goals in 3 games was impressive despite his apparent lack of skill.

India:

Well we suck, I didn't mind losing to better teams but we lost both friendlies this month, one to weaker opposition. We didn't manage to score and got a player sent of, not ideal. But the development is still to come so hopefully we can keep things respectable until then.

Now onto the league and our only remaining way of continental qualification.
(if any one wants any more/ other details just say)

League Campaign starts.
Goalkeeper costs us winning start. We chalk up at least one of each result but come out of the month intact. National team frustrates again.

The first game left a sour taste in the mouth with our goalkeeper throwing the ball to the other team in the last few minutes of the game, strikers also to blame as we had many chances. Other results are self explanatory as we embarrassed ourselves against Mumbai.

Player of the month was a tough one for me this time but it has to go to Ugo Okpara who, apart from against Mumbai did a sterling job in defence.

As you can see, we are 5th but level on points with second is a steady start to the season.

National Team
We lost 3-0 to Guam, we will change tactics and renew optimism.

The season continues
We agree the signing of a Japanese midfielder. 2 almost comebacks end fruitless to begin the month but a successful third attempt helps us end the month with a bang. The national team finally earn some respect.

As you can see the start of the the month could have gone better. We were close to getting a point in both games (the 4th was scored right at the end). In the third game luck got us back into and from then on we didn't look back for the rest of the month.

Playerof the month goes to Edeh Chidi who got four goals this month. We finally also got a positive performance out of our young goalkeeper who deserves a mention

Unfortunately we slip down to 6ththis month but only 2 points from second which looks achievable.
(This would not get us into the continental competition though as SC Goa won the cup)

NationalTeam
Showing progress I hope with a respectable 2-2 draw away at Thailand. Chhetri on decent form.

Entering theChristmas spirit
We start by wasting chances against United SC then gift Indian Arrows a lovely own goal but after Christmas we teach Salgaocar a lesson. In player news we sign up our Nigerian striker for another year but other players think they are world beaters and ask for extortionate amounts. No game for the National team this month.

We can look at this month one of two ways, we are unbeaten in 6 games, or that we could have won all 3 this month. The continual bane of not finishing teams off could be costly come the end of the season.

Player of the month
goes to Robert Lalthlamuana solid at the back and contributing 3 assists going forward. Unsung hero so far this season.

Is not quite good enough but not terrible, maybe if we keep up the good run a top 2 or 3 finish is possible.
With it being half way through the season and no national team update I thought I would treat you to some random screen shots of the what is going on so far. Enjoy.

Also just a quick thanks to all reading this so far, any tips would be nice :p and I apologise for any spelling or grammar errors on my behalf. Cheers folks.

A new year of football
First hat-trick of the season. We score 18 goals in 5 games but fail to take all the points The second of our three Nigerians signs a new contract. Our new Japanese player arrives. The national team best 11 is announced but has another month without a game.

Well I can only be pleased with them this month, we could have easily lost against Dempo so it is a nice point to pick up. Our goal scoring has been amazing including a Singh hat-trick to start the month (not created more chances just started putting them away). And we are 11 unbeaten now.

Player of the month goes to Robin Singh thanks to an impressive 8 goals this month.

Well, well, well. The leaders have had a bad patch and technically it's in our hands now as we still have to play 1st 3rd and 4th but it is looking very tight up there.

Not a world beater but certainly an improvement to the squad.

National Team
Best 11 but not that great tbh.

Honours
As the yearly honours come around: Messi wins player of year and Golden Ball winner. Kagawa wins Asian player of the year. The young Asian player award goes to Yaser Kazim of Luton town and Indian player of the year to Anthony Pereira. Nothing for us yet unfortunately.

What, where are my games?
Poor discipline costs us points. But we end with a win in this 2 game month. The national team plays and wins!

Not much to say, another 4 points from 6 with a sending off in the first game. We extend our run to 13 without defeat but could have done with that other 2 points.

Player of the month wasn't going to happen but after scoring for club and country this month Robin Singh wins again.

(unfortunately not an updated version of his screenshot due to technical issues) but his international stats are now played 8 scored 2

Again, not a lot different in terms of contenders, we sit third with the big boys left to play.

I enjoyed this game, a 2-1 away win at Brunei doesn't seem impressive but after conceding with only 30 seconds gone I feared the worse.

Honours
We win manager of the month for January, It would have been an insult not to.

I remember reading that Ipswich's Michael Chopra was eligible for India, not sure if he is eligible on FM but might be worth a try?

This will be a monumental task to get India competing for honours, will be following. Good luck

He is Indian as a second nationality but unfortunately has declared for England despite never playing for them, if anybody knows how to change his mind, if it is even possible it will be a great help.

A deciding month?
We are drawn in group A of the Asian confederation cup (Asian Europa league equivalent) and after looking at the rules again it looks like second could be enough to do so again. Continentally we flop and in the league we finally lose . We sign up the third of our Nigerians to a new contract. India lose in controversial style.

As you can see losing 2-0 to a championship rival has not helped but the wins keep us in with a shout. In the confederation cup we showed our bad side and got players sent off while scoring own goals.

Player of the month goes to Uga Okpara who was head and shoulders better than the rest.

As you can see it is not in our hands any more but we can still win it,other rivals dropped off this month and it could be a 2 horse race if Dempo slip up too.

Weare not in a good spot but not out of it... BELIEVE

National Team
We lost to Palestine 2-1 when a draw was predicted, goals disallowed for both teams. Positives to take from it though.

What's wrong with the relagation zone? Why is 3rd bottom in it but 2nd bottom not?

I am unsure, tried figuring it out myself but it is Indian Arrows don't seem to be relagatable (if that's even a word) at one point they were bottom and the two teams above them were going down.

EDIT: it is because they a developmental team, going to have to see if it counts for next season too.
