Bale was partly responsible for Pavlyuchenko's goal.

His recent 'threat factor' meant that Ferreira marked him extremely tightly to avoid being caught on the back-foot with Bale on full sprint. This meant that Ivanovic had to slot into the RB position to cover while Ferreira was upfield. The result of this was Mikel slotting into the empty CB position left by Ivanovic, who didn't deal with Pavlyuchenko at all after he picked up the ball.

yeah, i think it shows the kind of influence Bale is staring to have on fullbacks. If Bale can learn to constantly exploit this consistenly (dragging his marker into no mans land and creating a huge hole,or making teh fullback second guess following him)he will be a huge threat on and off the ball. Not many wide players can have this kind of effect on a team

my god how many times, it was the performance that looked totally different from recent matches not the result. Not that a point at Spurs is a bad point by any stretch of the imaginatition anyway.
