OCTOBER, FIXTURES<o

In this game, I had to be careful not to make the already cocky players too complacent. As many of them were showing signs of being overconfident, basically thinking that turning up would be enough to win the game, I was afraid that if I played those players, we would either loose, or even worse, that they were to be right in that turning up would indeed be enough to see us through to the group stage. Being afraid of the latter, that they would get a result without putting in the effort, indubitably making them even more cocky before the big game against Man C, I decided to play my reserves instead.<o

Final results 2-0 ( 5-<st1:metricconverter productid="0 in" w:st="on">0 in</st1:metricconverter> total), making us qualify for the Group Stage were we are to face Ajax – Spartak Moscow – Köln and Real Madrid, a Madrid side that are missing out on CL as a results of the editor, the constructor of the db, making a mistake. Well, who cares !<o

Pre game, I was yet again worried that our players would be over confident. I choose to play with a rather attacking mentality but keeping our fullbacks back at all time as they play with 3 forwards.<o

Line up and match stats in a rather boring match that ended 0-0. Near the end of the game I pushed for a goal and almost conceded instead because my fullbacks got caught pout of position<o

Assistant manager feedback - ingame
Cahill had been playing in Quatar on the 15th, 3 days earlier<o

But when looking at his stats, this is not something that you can see pre-game so one has to apply common sense here. **** it a great game !

My aim with this game was to either exploit the space between their d-line or behind the same on the flanks, all depending on their d-line and how attacking their fullbacks were to be. A narrow formation, playing on the counter down the flanks with our FC´s on free role, drifting away form the narrow formation, our wingers cutting in with fwruns, not dribbling g, going straight for goal<o

1st Half<o></o>
<o

They started out in fury and I had to slow down the game and reduce my t-balls, setting those to rarely for most players. Still we gave away possession to easy. They scored 2 beautiful gaols but we but them on the break twice after playing balls into channels behind the d-line for our striker to move wide onto. Making it 2-2 at half time.<o

2nd half<o></o>

They scored just after a minute and then it as all Chelsea, WE seemed unable to cope at all and they were closer scoring again than we were equalising.<o

The tactic<o></o>
<o
> </o
>
I wanted to play wide and aggressive to be ion control of the game from the start. I chose a deeper d-line to be able to close down heavy in midfield. The Fullbacks were given very attacking instruction, mentality of 20 and fwruns set to often, instructions that always need to be reconsidered every 15 minutes.<o

1st half<o></o>
<o

We were in control of the game from the very start and when <st1:city w:st="on"><st1
lace w:st="on">Ajax</st1
lace></st1:city> seemed to sink deeper after 15 minutes, we started to create chances. We scored 2 goals, 22nd and 28th minute, as a clear results of <st1:city w:st="on"><st1
lace w:st="on">Ajax</st1
lace></st1:city> being far too passive. 3-0 came in the 39 minute<o
></o

<o

2nd half<o></o>
I made some tweaks to tighten things up, being rather happy with the 3-0 lead, knowing that our players would not give it all in the 2nd half<o></o>
<o> </o>
I reduced some width and told our players to tight mark the opponents as I suspected they were going to play a possession based approach within a narrow formation, moving upfield as a unit. I also raised the d-line and lowered our closing down to prevent us from being dragged out of position, instead denying them space.<o
></o
>
<o
> </o
>
Winger instructions<o></o>
<o
></o
>
<o> </o>
By giving them a free role, the will look for space away from the narrowness in the formation and as Ajax too are playing narrow, the space will be found wide, outside of their fullback. <o
></o
>
<o
> </o
>
This way we will drag their players out of their defensive position and if their fullback decides to close down heavily and/or tackle hard, then our wingers might skin them and either stay wide delivering crosses, or cut inside going straight at goal<o
></o
>
<o
> </o
>
The results if it? – It worked great and we had some chances to score both 4 and 5-0 but as the clock ticked, our players started to be more and more passive. I then reduced some more width and time wasting to make the players be closer to the Opponents and make quicker decision in terms of closing down. Never underestimate the effect that only a couple of notches on the Time wasting slider have on the decision urgency. If being 3-0, your players might dwell on the ball or think 1 second too long about closing down or tracking back and if being slightly complacent, then you will see them just stand their, not even trying to tackle. As the ball is passed around them .Reduce the Time wasting! <o

In this game, we faced a opponent using a different formation, not singe single player in the Mc-strata and as the weather was really bad,
, I decided to switch to a 4321, using wingforwards, concentrating on letting the Wingers hit balls in between the D-line to my Lone striker trying to take an advantage of the slippery grass.. As a striker, I chose Agbonlahor as he has the pace. No Arial ability was needed in this match, neither strength (i.e. Carew) as he would be surrounded by 4 strong central defensive players and the only way to beat them was by pure pace.<o

Apart form that we played with lesser t-balls, trying to keep possession, drawing the DMCs out of position, but in a direct approach in the final 3rd.

First Half<o></o>
<o
> </o

Pool seemed more fired up than we and controlled the game with a possession based tactic. It took about 20 minutes for us to get into the game. Both teams missed a lot of easy passes on the wet surface and the scramble in the box after corners made the match like more like a lottery than a test in skills. 0-0<o

Second half<o></o>
<o
> </o

We scored right away after I had managed to get the players fired up. A long ball from our Left FB Bouma connected to Young on the same flank, who cut in and served Milner on the right flank with a perfect cross that he bombed into the net from just outside the box<o

>
<o
> </o
>
<o
></o

<o
> </o

In the 62nd minute Pool switched to a flat 442, playing direct balls over the top of our defenders. I then dropped my d-line from
highish to lowish and the MC to the DMC spot. We managed to be in control for the rest of the game and when 10 minutes left, I dropped the wingers into MR, ML and played out the game in a slow and cautious style, holding possession in advanced positions<o

A fluke game that I won’t describe in detail. The reason for it is that something happened that never could happened in real life and the scenario needs no analysis. I simply started with the wrong tactic, a tactic that had been sent to me so that I could tweak it for a user. This made my forwards play as wingers, my fullbacks end up in the wrong flanks and one of my wingers in DC...( as I seemed to have switched tactic after picking the team). It took me about until halftime to spot it and I was lucky drawing them 0-0 at 45 minutes.<o
