QUARTER FINALS

Portugal
2-3 Spain
Gomez 2, Hondo N'Dongo

Line Up: David, Azpilicueta, Hondo N'Dongo, Gomez*, De la Torre, Santano (Rodriguez), Cidoncha, Muniain, Herrera (Sanz), Perez Villarroya, Garcia (Alfredo)

Great win this where the centre halves took centre stage. Roberto Gomez collected his first goals for his country including a late winner.

Denmark 1-2 Poland
France 3-2 Sweden
Holland 0-1 England

----------

SEMI FINALS

Spain 1-0 England
Herrera

Line Up: David, Azpilicueta, Gomez, Barandiaran (Albert), De la Torre*, Santano, Cidoncha, Muniain (Juan Carlos), Herrera, Perez Villarroya, Garcia (Alfredo)

Suffered an early set back when Barandiaran went off injured after 5min with a broken foot - he will be out for 3 months now. Herrera put us ahead and we were quite comfortable until the last 15min when they threw everything at us. Somehow Poland have made it into the final!!!!!!

Poland 0-0 France
(Poland won on pens)

PRE-SEASON

Vadillo sold, Aurtenetxe, Rodriguez, Jose and Martinez Cid loaned out
Valcarcel and Salazar now in 1st team squad
Barca spend big including £20m on a Scottish defender
Spain lose their olympic title

AIMS
Another unbeaten league season would be nice and unbeaten season overall essentially
Could we win 38 out of 38 again?

PLAYERS IN
Signed half a dozen youngsters the best being a guy called Vinas from Sevilla for £5m. Also got a promising player from Barca.
TOTAL SPENT: £7.25m
View attachment 246531View attachment 246532View attachment 246533View attachment 246534
(not sure where the player faces went)

PLAYERS OUT
Vadillo finally left, returning to Napoli for £7m. Promising young midfielder Luis Manuel left for £600k as he was on £30k a week and was just going to be 7th choice so offloaded him. There are limits!!!! Veteran defender Aurtenetxe as well as Jose, Rodriguez and Martinez Cid were loaned out for fees. Jonas Ramalho was released.
TOTAL INCOME:£11.35m

SUMMARY
The squad is pretty much the same really. Salazar will replace Aurtenetxe as back up LB and with San Jose now 35, Valcarcel will get a few games in the first team - he along with Perez Ostos have been in the B team with continental reputations! lol. Looking forward to giving Izurza, Garmendia and Varias an increased amount of game time.

OLYMPICS
Decided to take charge but couldnt pick any of the players that were involved in the Euro's so wasnt interested and went on holiday every game day in a sulk! lol. Finished 4th.

Thought that I would put up profile pics of my squad as some players have amazing stats and get outshone by Herrera et al (Cidoncha being one - he attribute wise is probably my best player). I have put them in formation order. Will put up B team and youths later.

Haha, I love this. Gutting you couldn't pick anyone you wanted. Looking forward to another great season though.

Spain start World Cup qualifiers with a win

A great start to the season with 3 victories over Real and one each against Barca and Valencia plus we kept a load of clean sheets! Some unusual goalscorers appeared during the month which was nice - none more so than Cesar Azpilicueta getting one! Mustnt grumble and all that lol.

OCTOBER

Andoni Santano wants a new challenge
Atletico Madrid easily beaten (thanks to 2 own goals lol)
Derby victory away to Real Sociedad
2 easy wins for Spain

The wins keep coming! Had some awkward games on paper and came through them with various degrees of success. The only sour note was when Andoni Santano requested to leave the club for a new challenge. I offered him out for £120m and received an offer for £38m so will keep him until the end of the season and sell him then. Hopefully get at least £40m for him.

NOVEMBER

Bilbao throw away 3 goal lead to fail to win for 1st time this season
Through in Europe and Tenerife up next in the cup
Mancini replaces Moyes at Valencia while Villas-Boas is in charge of Espanyol
Spain beat Bulgaria but lose to Germany in friendlies

****** CSKA!!!! To be fair we were never going to win EVERY game were we? In that game we both had a goal disallowed and ours would have been a last minute winner and Alfredo's 4th. Garcia was denied a hat-trick the game before due to a disallowed goal and Alfredo had 2 chalked off against Puertollano!

Seriously thinking about putting Alfredo in for Garcia - both score when picked so hard to pick just one!

Deportivo La Coruna 0-4 Athletic Bilbao
Garcia 2, Muniain, Gomez

UEFA Champions League Group H

Athletic Bilbao 6-0 Dinamo Zagreb
Valcarcel, Alfredo, Ordonez Lopez, Garmendia, San Jose, Ibanez

Athletic Bilbao 3-1 Granada

Decent back up keeper who started his career here but didnt make it. Had spells at Hercules, Salamanca and Tenerife before returning. Keeps complaining about the lack of 1st team football.

One of the veterans and at the age of 35 is still 1st choice RB. Going to give him a coaching role once he decides to hang up his boots. Assisted 130 goals also.
