World Player of the Year awards for Herrera
Barcelona despatched in the cup
Martinez Cid loaned out - Garmendia promoted to 1st team
Barca and Real Madrid splash the cash again

Fantastic month as we came through with a 100% record despite having tough fixtures. The front players came into their own and all contributed. Bayern Munich bid up to £11m for Ibanez which I rejected but I did let Martinez Cid go to Almeria on loan so he can play every week.

When Barca and even more so Real spend all this money are they buying anyone who can win the league by themselves? I am sure no one will beat Aitor though.

They have bought some great regens with Redaelli at Barcelona stupidly good but I think the following has given me the advantage:

1. I have been in charge for ages and I am liked by all my players - the other 2 have changed managers every few years
2. All my players are Spanish and are favoured personnel with eachother - Barca and Real have hardly any decent Spaniards
3. All my teams play with the same tactic every game at every level so the progression to the 1st team is natural

FEBRUARY

Real Madrid humiliated by brilliant Bilbao
Away win in France in Champions League
Bilbao and Real Madrid to contest Copa del Rey final
24 wins out of 24 in the league - 14 pts clear and unbeaten in all comps

A fine month with the 6-1 win over Real Madrid the highlight. Garcia was banging in the goals but a special mention also goes out to Perez Villarroya who has been an assist machine (more than Herrera even!). Was very pleased with the result in Paris as felt we may slip up there.

Brilliant. I have just read all the pages from the start (over the course of like 2 days just coming back to it). Such a good story, thinking about starting in Spain with someone outside the ''Big Two'', probably wont do Bilbao though. Dont think i could top yours. Aitor is one of the most incredible regens ive ever seen too!!

Kudos to you dear sir! Didnt think anyone would read it from start to finish - thought it was just the peeps that had been following for a while now. You reading it probably took as much effort as me writing it lol

MARCH

30 games won in a row in all comps and 30 wins out of 30 in the league!
After struggling early in the season Bilbao B are on the charge with 14 wins out of 18
Poor youth intake this year unfortunately - will have to check other clubs out
Bilbao get drawn against Celtic in Champions League quarter finals
Spain beat Czech Republic

The run goes on! What a season this is turning out to be! Had a scary moment against Hercules as only got the winner in injury time to keep the winning run going. Delighted with the draw in the Champions League and if/when we get through either Lyon or Bayern Munich will be our opponents.

Terrible youth intake this year but have ear marked two or three players from other clubs - 1 gem of a player!

Espanyol 1-2 Athletic Bilbao
Muniain, San Jose

Sevilla 0-3 Athletic Bilbao
Hondo N'Dongo, Garcia (pen), Muniain

UEFA Champions League 1st Round 2nd Leg
Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Paris St.Germain

APRIL

Title wrapped up with win over Numancia
1st defeat occurs in Europe - but it could have been worse
4 or 5 players signed who will arrive in the summer
Barcelona soundly beaten

Another title won. Which was nice. Normally I would flood the team with youngsters but having to tread carefully as wanting to maintain my 100% record in the league. Barcelona were blown away with 3 goals in the first half.

In the Champions League Celtic offered no threat but Bayern Munich were a different story. We lost 2-1 and they had 2 disallowed as we played poorly. Disappointed not to go through the whole season unbeaten but we can still win the tie and tournament I suppose!

UEFA Champions League QF 1st Leg
Celtic 0-4 Athletic Bilbao
Muniain, Ibanez, Zlatar (og), Herrera

Numancia 0-3 Athletic Bilbao
Barandiaran, Garcia, Alfredo

UEFA Champions League QF 2nd Leg
Athletic Bilbao 3-1 Celtic
Sanz, Ibanez, Rodriguez

Rayo Vallecano 0-2 Athletic Bilbao
Hondo N'Dongo. Muniain

Athletic Bilbao 3-1 Real Sociedad
Alonso, Sanz 2

Athletic Bilbao 4-1 Barcelona
Garcia 3(1pen), Muniain

UEFA Champions League SF 1st Leg
Bayern Munich 2-1 Athletic Bilbao
Herrera

Valencia 0-2 Athletic Bilbao
Gomez, Sanz (pen)

MAY - END OF SEASON

Champions League and Copa del Rey won
100% record in the league (now 114 unbeaten)
Bayern Munich hit for six, Chelsea hit for five

A fine end to the season starting with a great victory over Bayern Munich. We deserved the cup victory over Real Madrid too as we were 2 up early on and still controlled the game even when we conceded one.
Delighted that we ended the league campaign by winning all our games with only a couple that I can remember going right to the wire. Dont know how I can top that!

In the Champions League final we were without both Muniain and Herrera but we thrashed Chelsea anyway.

UEFA CHampions League SF 2nd Leg
Athletic Bilbao 6-2 Bayern Munich
Garcia, Herrera 2, Perez Villarroya 2, Hondo N'Dongo

Athletic Bilbao 2-1 Real Betis
Sanz, Rodriguez

Copa del Rey Final
Athletic Bilbao 2-1 Real Madrid
Herrera, Gomez Comas

Real Valladolid 0-3 Athletic Bilbao
Ibanez, Rodriguez, Gomez

Athletic Bilbao 3-1 Granada
Izurza, Gomez, Alfredo

UEFA Champions League Final
Athletic Bilbao 5-1 Chelsea
Santano 2, Gomez Comas, Hondo N'Dongo, Garcia

Can't believe how dominant you've made Bilbao!! 100% record in the league is something i have never seen!! Well done

That 100% record in the league is purely rediculous.

Was they Bayern tie the only match you didnt win?

Decided to go with David as my 1st choice keeper. Have had Rodriguez and Liendo in my squads for ages but dare not drop them incase Argentina called them up for a competitive fixture! No Barcelona players were even in contention for inclusion.

Well done on the season mate! Knew it would happen at some point. You say you have a few players coming in to the side, anyone looking like they could be world class?

UEFA EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

Group B

Ukraine 2-3 Spain
Garcia 2, Muniain

Line Up:
David, Azpilicueta (Liendo), Hondo N'Dongo, Barandiaran (Albert), De la Torre, Santano (Rodriguez), Cidoncha, Muniain, Sanz, Perez Villarroya, Garcia*

A decent start to the tournament but had a scary moment towards the end when they had a goal disallowed. My 1st eleven for the tournament are all my players!

Denmark 2-0 Russia

-----------

Spain 4-0 Denmark
Hondo N'Dongo, Santano, Garcia, Herrera

Line Up: David, Azpilicueta, Hondo N'Dongo, Barandiaran, De la Torre, Santano*, Cidoncha (Ruiz), Muniain (Juan Carlos), Herrera, Perez Villarroya (Cano), Garcia

Four first half goals blew them away and the game wasnt a contest really. Barandiaran got injured at the death though and is out for 2 weeks.

Russia 1-0 Ukraine

----------

Russia 1-2 Spain
Garcia, Herrera

Line Up: David, Azpilicueta (Liendo), Hondo N'Dongo, Gomez, De la Torre, Santano (Rodriguez), Cidoncha (Ruiz), Muniain, Herrera*, Perez Villarroya, Garcia

This was Azpilicueta's 100th appearance for Spain. We went two nil up and held on to top the group with a 100% record. Cidoncha and Santano picked up slight knocks but should be ok.

Denmark 2-1 Ukraine
