APRIL

Bilbao beat Barca and go on to claim the title
Bilbao lose 1st leg to Inter but turn it around in the 2nd leg
Perez Villarroya out for 4 months
U19s win league and cup

Well the month started off brilliantly with our yearly thrashing of Deportivo. We suffered a set back against Inter and were fortunate to go through thanks to 2 penalties won by Perez Villarroya - the 2nd one breaking his foot!
The big game of the month arguably was against Barca and we came from behind to win 2-1 and we clinched the title a couple of games later with a win over Tenerife. We finished the month with one foot in the Champions League final after beating Lyon convincingly.

Athletic Bilbao 7-0 Deportivo La Coruna
Garcia, Muniain, Savic (og), Ibanez, Ordonez Lopez 2, Herrera

MAY - END OF SEASON

Bilbao win Champions League - 1st team to win it 6 times in a row
Ibanez, Gomez, Ordonez Lopez want to leave for new challenges wtf!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
San Jose announces immediate retirement
Herrera doesnt win best player in Europe - Raedelli of Barca gets it

Some great moments this month - winning the Champions League with Santano getting a farewell goal. San Jose getting a goal the day after he announces his retirement also. Alfredo achieved back to back hat-tricks in the league also!

BUT... I have never experienced three players coming to me in the same day wanting a new challenge and to leave the club. Especially since they are back up players! Ibanez has only had 2 seasons in the first team for gods sake! That now means for next year we could have half a dozen new players in the first team squad!

Athletic Bilbao 4-2 Real Valladolid
Alfredo 3, Sanz

UEFA Champions League SF 2nd Leg
Lyon 2-1 Athletic Bilbao
Izurza

Ponferradina 4-6 Athletic Bilbao
San Jose, Alfredo 3, Valcarcel, Ibanez

Athletic Bilbao 1-0 Sporting Gijon
Gomez Comas

UEFA Champions League Final
Athletic Bilbao 3-0 PSV Eindhoven
Ibanez, Santano (pen), Herrera

PLAYER OF THE SEASON
AITOR HERRERA

Shocking way to finish off the season with players wanting out. Looking forward to next season without a doubt. Pretty sure you will be able to cope though.

Another victory in a tournament by beating France in the final! Was harsh on them as we equalised in injury time but hey ho. Had 3 sendings off in the tournament!

Klippy, how do you usually manage your youth, do you stick them into the U19s or put them straight into the B team?

hey KLIPPYBO can you post some screenshots of the best players around at the time in your game?

Usually just stick them in the youths but give them some game time. However Izurza, Herrera, Cidoncha, Perez Villarroya all went straight into the first team.

Also if I had a player who was obviously going to take over someones place I have sold the 1st team player to give the youngster his chance ie sold Ruffier to play David and sold Monreal to play De la Torre

TOTAL SPENT: £2.5m

PLAYERS OUT
Santano (268apps / 48goals) had a pre-arranged deal with Roma and club legend Mikel San Jose (588/121) retired to take up a coaching role with the club. Ander Ibanez left for Atletico Madrid for £21.5m and Jose left for Valencia for £10m.

Roberto Gomez and Isidro Jesus Ordonez Lopez has left to join Sevilla on loan - raking in £8.5m in loan fees. Gomez rejected a £25m move to Spurs and Ordonez Lopez a £30m move to Roma. We also loaned out Aurtenetxe and Rodriguez to Real Betis and Martinez Cid to Villarreal for fees.
TOTAL INCOME: £81.9m

SUMMARY
Well with so many players leaving I have promoted a bunch of new players to the 1st team squad. 17 y/o Gontzal Ruiz will replace Gomez and Jaume Gutierrez will take Ibanez's squad place. Also promoted to the 1st team squad is Juan Pedro Vinas. Unai Garmendia will replace Santano in my first eleven. Oldman Cesar Azpilicueta at the age of 36 is still going to be holding down a 1st eleven spot.

Barcelona 0-3 Athletic Bilbao
Hondo N'Dongo 2, Alfredo

2nd Leg
Athletic Bilbao 3-2 Barcelona
Hondo N'Dongo, Cidoncha, Phillips (og)

Perez Villarroya, Cidoncha

UEFA European Super Cup Final
Napoli 0-4 Athletic Bilbao
Garcia 2, Herrera 2

From the scores you have posted so far the new boys seem to be coping well? Do the results match with the way they are playing?

Yeah but there has been little change to the first XI in truth - just Garmendia in for Santano in cm. Was tempted to play a backup side in the second leg versus Barca but opted against it.
