Despite an extra 8 million pounds from the Blackpool board an a increase wage budget to 215,000k a week, the Blackpool boss refused to buy in the transfer market following his two signings.
This may be the reason why Blackpool have only registered two wins in the last eleven premier league matches. Blackpool had already gone five games without a win heading into January but as they ended January it looked a lot worse for them. 5 defeats on the spin left them just one point above the drop zone. In those five games Blackpool leaked fourteen goals and only scored three. It was about to get a bit better for them though.
Blackpool secure huge win thanks to Kezman hat trick Blackpool striker Kezman scored a hate tick as relegation threatened Blackpool beat Fulham 3...2 The striker scored after two minutes to give the home side the lead. Fulham thought back with goals from Zamora and Gera but a goal either side of half time for Kezman saw the home side secure their first win for 10 games the goals can be seen below.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4sIv2Pbaq0
Harewood scores his first of season as Lee woon- Jae hits form
Blackpool somehow beat Blackburn at Ewood Park to climb above them in the table. The whole stadium was shocked to see Kezman on the bench just days after scoring a hat trick. His replacement Harewood justified his selection by scoring the only goal of the game with just 6 minutes gone. From then on it was all Blackburn as both sides looked to distance themselves from the bottom. Blackpool keeper Lee Woon-Jae proved unbeatable though stopping long range efforts from Grella and Emerton as well as saving one on ones with Klasnic and Diouf. Blackpool are now 4 points clear of Newcastle who sit 3rd bottom, Blackburn sit one place and one point below Blackpool in the table after the result. Blackpool have Liverpool ( H )and Man United ( A ) in the next two fixtures.
This form hardly lasted though
Blackpool not a match for two on England’s best
Liverpool’s Ryan Babel hit the only two goals at Bloomfield and Wayne Rooney scored four for Man United as they hammered Blackpool 5..1 Rooney has now scored 9 goals in two games v Blackpool.
Spurs run riot at the Lane
Goals from Keane Modric and Van Der Vaart (2) ensure for a comfortable win for 2nd placed Spurs Blackpool had known answer for the constant attacks and can count themselves lucky it was not more embarrassing for them.
This is how the table looks can Blackpool stay up?
Blackpools last six fixtures are: ( H )Stoke ( H) Sunderland ( A )Birmingham ( H )Wigan ( A )Chelsea ( H )Bolton
Blackpool in the hunt for Zaki Woodgate and David Beckham
All three players will be available for free come the end of the season as it stands. Amr Zaki former Wigan and Hull City man has turned down a contract offer with Zamalek. The transfer could be put off should he be unable to obtain a work permit but Lewis sees Zaki as a perfect replacement to Harewood who he no longer has in his plans.
Woodgate is currently transfer listed and is out of contract in the summer. Blackpool have shipped goals for fun this season and Lewis would like an extra defender or two with Alex Baptiste and Craig Cathcart stalling on new contracts. Woodgate has spent most of his time on the sidelines during his spell at Tottenham but Lewis is said to be willing to give him a chance.
David Beckham is also out of contract in the summer the former England captain Man United and Real Madrid player has said he would like to end his carear in England. Blackpool may not have been his ideal finish but even at 35 he could offer something to Blackpool. It may take a higher wage then he currently offers to players. Shirt sales and the guidence he could give recent signing Alex Chamberlain could persuade Blackpool to part with the cash.
Both the Board and the Manager are well aware none of these deals would be possible if they are relegated come the end of the season.
Nice update mate, as mentioned above, it would be interesting either way: If you get relegated or if you stay up, either way you are going to need to strengthen the squad - I would take woodgate on a 1 year contract only, same with Beckham and Zaki, they are all going to ask for high wages. If you go down I would buy a few youngsters and then loan a couple of prem players. Try and get another in this weekend.....
short update before the big one about all the comings and goings at Blackpool
Blackpool beaten by chance taking Stoke In the big 6 pointer stoke came out on top. Blackpool had the best of the start and had two goals disallowed. Stoke began to find their feet towards the end of the first half Tuncay looking a threat. In the second half stoke started taking the game to Blackpool Tuncay with a great effort from 18 yards out Kenwyne Jones then hit a late double to sink the seasiders. Blackpool concede late goal as Wigan are relegated In a game of many chances both Sunderland and Blackpool were guilty of missing sitters Bent for the away side and DJ Campbell for home side. Blackpool on the verge of relegation Blackpool looked all out of steam as Birmingham dominated them. Zigic hit two of the goals in the second half as only the Blackpool keeper had kept it at 0..0 at half time. Macheda double keeps Blackpool hope A second half double from one loan Manchester United striker Macheda secured three points for Blackpool v already relegated Wigan. Following West Brom loosing 2..0 to Arsenal Blackpool are now just inside the relegation zone on goal difference with just two games to go. Chelsea thump Blackpool to set them into last day drama An Anelka hat trick sent Blackpool into their last game of the season with Bolton needing to better West Broms result in order to stay up. Both sides have been playing awful as of late but both sides will known doubt go all out for the win in their last game.
Blackpool sent down on goal difference Blackpools Premier League dream is over after a late day defeat to Bolton after the game manager Lewis Cadey said “it is a big blow to go down the way we did I felt the players could have given more” Asked whether he would be making change to the side in preparation for the championship he said “there will be wholesale changes at the club”
Ooooh! its tense mate! So whats the board confidence like after you have been relegated? I know they expect it at start of season so is it looking like you may be safe in your job?
Its going to be tough now with signings etc as some of the players you may have been able to sign might not be interested.
Not sure if he is a known player to many on the forum, but have you looked at alain baclet?
The main save I am playing on at the moment - I had taken Bristol Rovers all the way to the premiership, I have just literally won the championship and am currently in the summer break period - he has been my top scorer all the way from league 2 when I took over to the championship - he scored about 30 goals every season!

Blackpool back Lewis to the hill and back in the market
Benitez makes his move following a agreement last season although he is sad to start in the championship he has promised fans he will not be playing in that league for long.
Sonko was let go by Stoke but is seen as good back up for the team. Could Stoke have been wrong to let him go? Or is Lewis just buying anyone on the market? Only time will tell but for a free can you even go wrong?
Rodney Snejider has also joined on the free the younger brother of Dutch star Wesley is also back up but may be an impact sub at times. He could even go out on loan a small profit was most likely in the mind of Lewis on this one.
Eidur Gudjohnsen is another player making the trip from Stoke to Blackpool he has had spells with Chelsea and Barcalona and is not a bad player to have on your bench,
Timothy Van Der Meulen is the least heard of player Blackpool have signed look took on the young centre back following a tip off by his agent.
Danny Welbeck became the next signing as shock went around Blackpool that Danny Welbeck tipped for to be a future England player had joined. Welbeck will link up with Benitez upfront. The forward did however cost 5 million is he worth it?
Seamus Coleman soon followed the 23 year old right back will be one of the first names on the sheet following his 2 million poind move. Finnan drops to back up. It will not be the first time Coleman has played for the club having been on loan at Bloomfeild during there Championship play-off winning season.
.Fabio followed Coleman through the door just two days later as Blackpool’s back four begin to take shape. The Brazilian and much hyped left back joined for 3.5 million. Managers had thought he would go to a bigger stage but the left back clearly sees potential in Blackpool
Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Sczesny joined on loan from Arsenal he will be back up for first team keeper Lee Woon-Jae following Kingson and Gilkes leaving the club.
The last signing but not least was former England international Jonathan Woodgate he will hope to stop Blackpool leaking goals like last year and score a few himself.
