BANTAMS CHASE FREE-MAN BIGNALL.
15th September 2014

Bradford City have reportedly made contact
with former Reading striker Nicholas Bignall,
a free agent, following the collapse of a deal
to keep on-loan John Marquis at Valley Parade.

Millwall frontman Marquis, 21, has scored 5
goals in 4 games for City- including a superb
hattrick against Walsall in the JPT- and had
shown a desire to remain at the club.

City DoF Dave Bassett confirmed yesterday
that a raise in the monthly costs of the loan
had made the deal impossible.

"We were hoping to keep him, but you always
run this risk in the short loan market. I spoke
with Trevor Keyse up at Millwall and he was
sure the club needed to be charging more
for a player of John's obvious talent."

The quick emergence of the Bignall rumours
seem to indicate that City intend to sort the
striker problem quickly. There is, however, no
new information on Rohan Ricketts, who is on
trial at Valley Parade.

BIGNALL IN AS HINDLE BLASTS LIONS! (16/9/14)

Nicholas Bignall has joined City until the end of
the season, with boss Mikey Hindle taking a dig
at how Millwall deal in the transfer market at his
unveiling.

In what, some will argue, should have been the
former Reading striker's meet and greet, Hindle
called Millwall's dealing with the John Marquis
loan situation ridiculous.

"It's maddening. We're all chuffed Bigsy has come
in, and maybe having a striker fully commited to
us for the season is wiser going forward, but the
way Millwall's people dealt with us was ridiculous."

"Dave (Bassett) was in London, at our expense,
and then they said we weren't paying enough. I
can't condone that sort of behaviour- we would
not practise such methods at any time."

Rohan Ricketts will also be joining the club within
the next few days following a successful trial with
the club. The 30 year old put in a solid performance
as he lasted the full 90 minutes aganst the Hyde
Under 21s.
