Chelsea Football Club- Building A Successful Bridge.

A Recent History

In 2003, Russian Oil Billionaire Roman Abramovich, took over Chelsea FC. The Russian, invested a large share of money into Chelsea- With an aim of becoming a major force in European Football. Manager at the time, Claudio Raneri spent over £100 Million pounds of Roman's money- But in the 2003/2004 season, he couldn't find a vital trophy. 2nd in the Premier League and a Semi-Final of the Champions League wasn't good enough for Abramovich- And Raneri was given his marching orders. European Champion with Porto, Jose Mourinho was hired as the man to take Chelsea to glory. In Mourinho's first press conference, he described himself as the 'Special One'. In Jose's first season, Chelsea won the Carling Cup and Premier League. It was in emphatic fashion, Chelsea stormed to the top of English Football. The Blues, took a big lead at the top and won the title for the first time in 50 years with a 2-0 win against Bolton. However, Chelsea were cruely denied in the Champions League Semi Final, from 'The goal that never was' by Luis Garcia of Liverpool. Mourinho proved the first season was no fluke, by following up with another Premier League Success in his 2nd season- This time a 3-0 win against Man United, securing the title. Chelsea couldn't get past Barcelona in the Champions League, being knocked out in the Last 16. In Jose's 3rd season, Chelsea finished behind Man United in the league, taking 2nd place. But The Blues won the Carling Cup & The FA Cup. Once more, Liverpool defeated Chelsea in the Champions League Semi's, but this time on penaltys. Jose started his 4th season as Chelsea Manager, but wasn't to finish it after a poor start to the league. The in-expierenced Avram Grant took the reigns, and took Chelsea to 2nd in the league- Losing out on the Premier League, through Goal Difference after a brave fight for the title. Grant took Chelsea to the Champions League Final- But losing out in a Penalty Shoot-out against Man United, and John Terry missing what would of been a winning kick. Grant was quickly fired just a few days later, his replacment World Cup Winner Luiz Felipe Scolari. However, Scolari's promising start soon turned into a nightmare- And once more another Chelsea Manager was sacked, Guus Hiddink given the job of guiding Chelsea through until the end of the season. Hiddink stabalised Chelsea to 3rd in the League, and winning the team a 2nd FA Cup in 3 Years. Hiddink left Chelsea, and former AC. Milan Manager, Carlo Ancelotti took the Stamford Bridge reigns. Chelsea broke the 100 goal in one season record, and won the Premier League, with an 8-0 win against Wigan. Chelsea also won the FA Cup again, but Jose Mourinho defeated Chelsea in the Last 16 of the Champions League with his Inter Milan side....

Ancelotti In Shock Resignation
Health Reasons Claims Italian

The man who guided Chelsea back to their glory days, with a Premier League and FA Cup Double. Over 100 Goals in the League. Wins at Anfield, The Emirates and Old Trafford. But after just one season in charge, the Italian has resigned from the Stamford Bridge Hot-Seat, due to health reasons. The news is sure to be a shock to Chelsea Fans across the Globe, and will be met with a great amount of sadness.

Ancelotti's press-conference out the blue. Like a train in the night. The sad glint in the Italians Eye, was there for all to see. The dropped, hushed tone of everyone at the table, was heard. Carlo was fought to be the one to bring stability at Stamford Bridge- A Bridge, with a new vision for the future- And a bright first season, looked to have confirmed this. However, its a set-back. And not just a coffee spill over your trousers set-back. This is like a House on fire.

Ancelotti said "After long consulation with my doctors, it was decided I can't currently keep up with managing a Football Team. For now, this it it. Will I ever come back? I hope so. I've loved my time at Chelsea, however short it was- And I wish the club the brightest success in the future"

So, whats next for Chelsea? Of course, a whole host of managers will be linked with the club. One thing that has been promised though, is a big name. Hiddink? Riijkaard? Laudrup? Van Basten? Nobody knows for certain, but don't expect to be waiting for too long...

Hiddink Confirms Chelsea Appointment
Fans Welcome Back FA Cup Winner

The day Carlo Ancelotti left Chelsea, you knew this was happening. The ready-made replacment for Ancelotti. The man who left his shoes for Ancelotti, the man who molded and repaired the shoes for Ancelotti. If there was ever a perfect man for the Chelsea job, it was Guus Hiddink- And its what Chelsea have got.

Hiddink joins the Premier League Champions, after a successful spell with the Blues back in 2009, where he replaced Luiz Felipe Scolari. The Dutchman took Chelsea from finishing outside the top 4, to FA Cup Winners and also cruelly denied a Champions League Final spot. But Hiddink's back, and its an appointment Chelsea Fans can be proud of.

Hiddink simply said "Its great to be back. I've got a world-class squad, we can go places". And Hiddinks right- With the introduction of Fernando Torres and David Luiz, Chelsea are going places. And Hiddink will hope its a Champions League Final date. While others may disagree, Chelsea are fast becoming the dominant force of English Football. Hiddink will have to offer stability and assurance to Chelsea, as they look to settle with a Long-Term manager.

This is Chelsea's season. The plate has been set, the meal served, knife and forks at the ready. Hiddink's leads Chelsea into a new era.. The era where Chelsea aim to go bigger and better than Man United and Arsenal.

Chelsea Look To The Future With Summer Signings
New Blood Singles Change of Mentality.

Guus Hiddink's first job as Chelsea Manager, was always to have a look out for the future. Chelsea having an ageing squad, and it was only a matter time before fresh youth was brang in. The Blues have been criticised in recent teams for buying big money players abroad, rather than focusing on English Talent- Now Chelsea are looking into the future, and it maybe a big message to their tital rivals.

The players in question, have been described as "Future World-Beaters" by Hiddink. No pressure then. 17 Year Old Striker, Connor Wickham is now a Chelsea player after being signed for £4.1 Million from Championship Side Ipswich. Chelsea's gain, will almost surely be Ipswich's loss. The more seasons Wickham could of stayed at Portman Road, the more his value would have rocketed up. Wickham, touted as the next Wayne Rooney, will be relishing his chance on the big stage.

The other player Guus Hiddink has installed his confidence and trust in, is Serbian Leftback Ivan Obradovic. At just 22 years of age, Obradovic will be the long-term replacement of Ashley Cole. The pacey Left-Back signed from Spanish Side Real Zaragoza, for £6.75 Million. Ivan will be delighted at Stamford Bridge, and along with Wickham a certain big name for the future.

With Chelsea's stars- Drogba, Terry, Lampard, Cole, Anelka, Malouda all getting on in their football careers, it looks as though this is a start from Guus Hiddink and Chelsea. The Premier-League Champions have been linked with Blackburn defender, Phil Jones and Arsenal Midfielder Jack Wilshere. Whether any moves are made in the coming weeks, are yet to be seen- But Hiddink has gone about wisely with his Chelsea side.

Chelsea FC- Season Preview- 2010/2011.

thumbnail.aspx

With the new season fastly approaching for Chelsea and Guus Hiddink, its tme to preview the action ahead. As expected, Chelsea will be fighting on all fronts this season. It will all begin on the 8th August at Wembley, as Chelsea clash with Manchester United in the Community Shield Final. Last season, Chelsea won the Shield on Penaltys against Manchester United. The Blues will also have high hopes for the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carling Cup.

In the Premier League, Chelsea are the current champions- And favourites to repeat that deed. If Guus Hiddink can pull of the same performances, as the end of the last season, Chelsea should have no problem pulling off a successive league title. We all know Chelsea's rivals for the season however- Manchester United will as always be chasing close behind- As will Arsenal and Manchester City. Guus Hiddink may be slightly annoyed with the fixture list. Chelsea play Manchester United and then Liverpool the weekend after twice, and the same with Arsenal and then Manchester City- The crucial matches, coming as the 36th and 37th games of the season for Chelsea will be at the Emirates and then against Man City.

After reaching the Semi Final of the Competition for 5 of the last 7 years, Chelsea fans will be wondering why their team haven't won the Champions League yet. The team have the quality, but have been missing their luck- Losing out in the 2008 final on penaltys, the 2007 Semi's in the same situation. 2005, the goal that never was and 2009 one of the worst displays from a referee ever. One thing that can be certain Chelsea will be a contender, and should at least get to the Semi Final's- The teams bottle and character will be tested against the tougher sides.

The domestic cup competitions are a good chance for Fringe and Younger players to get a run-out. Chelsea have a chance to make history, and be the first side ever to win the FA Cup 3 years in a row- And it can be done. However, as Chelsea found out at Barnsley in 2008, upsets can happen. The Carling Cup was last won by Chelsea in 2007, and Blues were runners-up in 2008. Once again another cup that can be won, but a run-out for 2nd string players will be a must for Guus Hiddink.

It will be a long, challenging season for Chelsea. But what could be a massivly rewarding one. Abramovich will have his eye on the Champions League, and won't be settling for the Domestic Cups...

Thanks for the comments and likes :)

The August Update will be later on tonight.

August 2010- It All Starts Here...
Guus Hiddink's Chelsea side knew a good start to their season, would give them a mental advantage on, into the season. The Champions had to live up to their title, with a tough start to their season. Torres, Drogba, Malouda, Lampard.. It looked tasty, but would it be the Premier League's Creme De La Creme?

V Manchester United- Community Shield Final- Wembley- Win 1-0 [Malouda] :
Chelsea had an chance to set down their marker for the season ahead, at the annual curtain opener for the year. Chelsea started off quickly, Frank Lampard's through ball found Florent Malouda who slotted home from 18 yards past Edwin Van Der Sar. Chelsea were reduced to 10 men after 19 minutes, when Branislav Ivanovic was sent off for a 2-footed lunge on Anderson. Petr Cech made several fantastic saves to hold Chelsea's lead and The Blues retained the Community Shield.

V Wolves- Barclays Premier League- Molineux- Win 1-0 [Zhirkov] :
Chelsea's start to the season wasn't a good one, as Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres were ruled out of the starting line-up. And then after 5 minutes, Nicolas Anelka was took off injured. And Chelsea were cursing their luck when new signing Yossi Benayoun was also took off injured. Chelsea grabbed the winning goal through Yuri Zhirkov's close range effort found the net, 60 seconds after Half-Time. Guus Hiddink was left scratching his head, when Ashley Cole was also took off injured. Chelsea held on, and took a battling victory.

V Bolton- Barclays Premier League- Stamford Bridge- Win 4-2 [Torres 3 & Lampard] :
Fernando Torres made his Chelsea debut in front of 40,000 Fans and made a first impression that will last a life-time. He scored a Hat-Trick in 39 minutes, which sent Chelsea into the dizzy impressions that if his form continues, Chelsea will be hitting the Premier League Title once more. Frank Lampard also added a penalty after 46 minutes, and goals from Kevin Davies and Gary Cahill couldn't stop the party at the Bridge.

V Sunderland- Barclays Premier League- Stadium of Light- Win 4-0 [Torres, Lampard, Welbeck OG & Drogba] :
Chelsea continued their early season rampage, with a heavy win against Sunderland. Fernando Torres opened the scoring within the first 40 seconds, after his cross somehow found the net. Chelsea dominated the first half and were unlucky not to add a second before the break. They didn't have to wait long after though, as 4 minutes after half-time a Didier Drogba free-kick hit the wall and Frank Lampard hammered a 20 yard shot. David Luiz's header after 81 minutes, was saved by the Sunderland keeper but re-bounded after Danny Welbeck for 3-0. Didier Drogba rounded the keeper in stoppage time, and finished the rout.

Well, what a start Chelsea have made. Top of the league, with 9 goals scored. Guus Hiddink will hope The Blues can keep this form up across the season, as they really do look like Premier League Winners.

- Chelsea have signed Alex Chamberlian from League 1 Side Southampton, for a fee of 5 Million Pounds. The Right Winger come off the bench, in the Sides 4-0 win against Sunderland.

- Chelsea have drawn Valencia, Anderlecht and Bursapor in their Champions League Group. The Blues have drawn Walsall away in the League Cup 3rd Round.
