Season 10 - Mid-Season Review

It's all been pretty positive so far in the first half of the season, winning all but 5 games, 2 of which we drew. The only disappointing aspect to the season so far would be the fact that we have lost our two league games against main title contenders Celtic, which means they are sitting closer to us than they should be!

So far so good in the cups so far, cruising into the League Cup semis and the Scottish Cup 5th round. Obviously the main tests will come in the later rounds where we will probably come up against the Old Firm.

Player of the Update - Ufukhan Yilmaz

11 assists in 19 starts for the German dead ball specialist, he has quickly become my go to man on the right wing this season.

League Table:

We're 6 points ahead of Celtic at the top of the league but I feel as though the second half of the season will be much tougher, due to the fact that Celtic are out of Europe and therefore their league form should get better.The next two games against Celtic in the league should be massive. Also, if we win the league we go straight into the Champions League group stages.

Transfer News:

A Malian international winger will be joining on a free as a backup for Yilmaz. I was worried both of our right wingers were too similar (strong technically but not physically) so I wanted a different option for the right flank. Kante should be very effective off the bench and still has room to improve in the future. His arrival means I'm planning on selling Needham in January to boost our transfer kitty. I'm not sure if I'll do too much business in January but it will be nice to have money available if any decent players are brought to my attention...​


Next update will either be a January update (If I do any transfer business) or a update just before the split.

Scottish football didn't have a great season in Europe this season did it :p On my save we made it to the quarters of the EL and Celtic won the ****** thing. But I wish we could top the league, we just can't stop Celtic, they're a class above. Good luck in the league and hopefully you'll get more of a shot in Europe next season, especially if you win the league :)

Nope, we went out in the Playoff Round. Celtic 4th in their CL group and Rangers 3rd or 4th in their Europa League Group. Only team still in Europe is Dundee United XD

So we've been pretty great since January, and we've finally managed to beat Celtic in the league this season, giving them a good 3-0 battering at Celtic Park. We're also through to the Scottish Cup Semi Finals where we will play Celtic and we also made it to a third League Cup Final, where we also met Celtic...

League Cup Final:

Unfortunately we couldn't make it 2 years in a row as Celtic edged us 2-1 in a tight final at Hamden Park. Up until this point Celtic had won 3 meetings in a row against us this season.

The reason for our success so far this season? Our strikers. All 4 have managed at least 14 goals in all competitions and even youth academy graduate Alex McIntosh has 18 goals in League 1 for Walsall this season...

So, we sit 12 points clear of Celtic with just 5 games remaining. Surely we have to win the league this year, right?

So, a great season in my 10th season in charge. A Scottish Cup and League double was achieved which leaves me with a decision to make. Do I stay at Clyde and try to make them into a European Giant or do I look for a new club to build up?..

****, you beat me in the race to win the title :p Anyway, how are Aberdeen doing on your save? On my save they are always sitting third behind me and Celtic and have their whole first team pretty much made out of loans, and I can never beat them in the Pittodrie, seems impossible. Good work and hopefully you can have another successful season.

They're nothing special, usually in the relegation group come the split. They did have a pretty nice strike force last season of Daniel Sturridge and Cammy Smith, but still only finished 7th.

A couple of little blips here and there, but on the whole we have been fantastic and picked up where we left off last season.

The main disappointment of the season so far is departing from the League Cup at home to St Mirren. Nevertheless we're still in with a chance of retaining our Scottish Cup and play Celtic in the 5th Round.
Champions League:

Wow! The group started better than we could ever imagine with a home win over Bayern Munich and a away win over Ajax. In the following 4 games we couldn't manage another win, but a couple of key draws meant we stopped other teams gaining maximum points and we sneaked through a horrible group in second place behind AC Milan. French giants PSG await in the 1st Knockout Round...

Unfortunately the challenge of the Frech giants PSG was just too much for us this season and we crash out of the competition in the 1st knockout round. I thought we were about to pull of an amazing comeback when we went 2-1 up away in Paris just needing one more to go through, but it wasn't to be.

Unlucky in the Champions League mate, not much you can do against PSG though. Hopefully you can get a better draw next year and you can have more of a chance of going through.

Yeah hopefully! I'm almost a bit disappointed we didn't finish third in our group because I would fancy us to go pretty far in the Europa League haha
