When you post a computer problem try and include as much information as possible, including the operating system you are using (Win XP, Vista, 7.. etc..)

Operating system: Windows Vista Home Premium

Problem:
My computer automatically shuts down and restarts if i leave it for more than 5 minutes.
It's been like that for a while now but can be annoying if i've been doing some work then it shuts down.
Because i couldn't be bothered to fix it i just found a way to counter it by leaving iTunes on and letting it play through all my songs with the volume muted.
Its not a serious problem but can be annoying and if you can help it would be appriciated :)

I don't know how to fix it but what? Leaving itunes running stops your PC from crashing? That is the most random fix I've ever heard Rofl

Check your power options, it might be set to hibernate/turn off after 5 mins of inactivity.

How old is the PC?
Do you have a screensaver running?

Lol random i know but it works so im not complaining. Its better than to having to keep moving the mouse every few minutes to prevent it from shutting down. As long as the PC is occupied with something, it won't shut down.

I've had for about two and a half years, the problem has been occuring for about a year or so.

And no, i don't have a screensaver running.

Im not eager to fix it so if you don't know how to fix it then it's cool :)
I'll probably be getting a new one soon this year anyway.

Cheers, it just checked that and it says:

Hibernate: Never
Sleep: After 15 minutes?

I don't know if thats it, im sure its not 15 minutes if it is.

like he said, it sounds like its automatically hibernating. change the power settings to ''turn off never''

edit. oh youve just seen (A)

Did you try what Eddlad says? Seems the most logical explanation.

Also have you actually tried rebooting your pc? thats usually my first port of call if all else fails before taking it to be fixed by a pro

I just found this, could it be the problem:

That appears to have fixed the problem, thanks lads

Can't argue with avast and ccleaner, great software for free.

I'd add Malwarebytes as an essential piece of software though. Malwarebytes is the best barr non for malware detection, expert PC repairers recommend it and use it along with ComboFix and HiJackThis for PC recovery after infection. The guy who originally wrote HiJackThis now works as a programmer for Malwarebytes.

Hi i was wondering could you help me with a problem i have with my pc.The problem is when i connect anything to my pc via usb the pc freezes and i have to shut it down by holding the power button down.as i only have internet through a usb wireless key i cant upgrade the drivers.any help would be appreciated.thanks

Get on a mates pc, go to your mainboard manufacturers site and download the motherboard drivers. They will include the latest USB drivers. Burn them to disc and install on your pc. You could also go into control panel, remove USB drivers and power on with USB item plugged in.

Problem: Right, i've had this problem before, but never bothered to ask. I've been ripping music from CD's onto Media Player, everything was working fine. But today, I start to rip a CD, everything starts to go slow. When I play music, whether it be on media player, or Youtube, or whatever, the sound is always slow and laggy. Can anyone help? Cheers

No mention of hardware changes or what operating sysytem you are using??

Check the audio hardware acceleration first.
Control panel / Sounds / Speaker settings / Advanced .. Set to full.

Could also be an IRQ issue (most likely).
Quickest solution is to uninstall the audio drivers and reboot.
When you reinstall, windows will assign a new IRQ and your problem should be solved.

My hard drive died the other day and I have lost all my music (22gb). I still have it all on my ipod though, is there anyway to transfer it all back on? I have heard possibly winamp but would I need to download a specific add-in? Or any other advice? cheers.

Transfer it off your ipod the way you put it on? But for Winamp you shouldn't need any additional plugins.
