just lost my play off final 5-1. distraught. was predicted mid table finish so a play off final isnt to bad. nut at one point we was 9 points clear. ended up 11 points from 1st. my form at the end of the season was appaling. won only 3 games between feb and april

As for the Team Talks, I almost always used Assertive & sometimes Calm. Depending on the situation of course. If losing or winning without convincing, I would say 'Not happy with the performance' & if winning 2-0 usually I tell them to not be complacent.

However, recently I stopped doing Team Talks, both pre-match & in Half-Time & I noticed that the team performs better. Let me give you 2 perfect examples:

German Cup Final vs Bayern. Losing 2-1 at H-T, in the 2nd half we score twice to make it 3-2 & then Bayern equalise in the 93rd minute. I win it in extra time 4-3 with 10 men given that one of my players got injured & I had used all subs. I didn't give a SINGLE TEAM TALK - not in pre-match, H-T & extra time.

German Super Cup vs Bayern. 1-1 at H-T, we win it 3-1 over 90 mins. We literally battered them! Over 60% possession & a lot of clear cut chances. Again, I didn't give a SINGLE TEAM TALK - not in pre-match & H-T.

There were more games of course without Team Talks & in which we won but it's impossible to list them all here. So, from my experience, Team Talks are not really effective, no - sorry! That's just my opinion though of course :)

I must admit I've had a similar experience to this. I've accidentally skipped forward to a game without setting the team talk and I've been 4-0 up at HT but that's an isolated example so can't really take much from it. May try my luck as soon as pre-season is over. Hoping someone will tweak the tactic to fix the excessive cards and maybe tweak it defensively at the expense of the firepower, such as winning games 1-0, 2-1 instead of 5-3, 4-2, etc.

There are guides upon guides on how to nail your team talks but really, it's all about the assertive second option.

just finished season. here are some stats

133 yellow cards 2nd place had 91
10 reds 2nd place had 5
873 fouls 2nd place 720
12 penalties given away 2nd place had 6
7 players had over double figures on yellow cards. 2 of them had over 20
7 fines (i think)

Wow that's a lot indeed! And with Conqueror V1 or V2? Which team you're managing?

Like I said, I'm in the 4th season with Dortmund & I never received a single fine in 4 years - till now!!! Maybe I have 3-4 Red Cards per season if I remember correctly. Not much though for sure.

I use Conqueror V1 mainly.

Mine must be similar to that, is there a way I can check the previous season's stats like those once I'm into next season's pre-season?

im using no man marking v3. managing ebbsfleet in league 2
 
Conqueror v1 worked wonders for me in the championship with Preston - got automatic promotion.

However, in the premier league, I'm absolutely bombing - 9 games, 0 wins, 2 draws, 7 defeats and that's without playing the big teams. Maybe my squad is just too weak, but I'm surprised at just how bad it's gone after last season.

Any advice on adaptations tactic-wise for this situation? Maybe change mentality?
 
Some people have had some success using counter. Did you sign a lot of players? They might just need time to settle?

Thought I'd read every single post in the thread but obviously not as I don't recall anyone mentioning counter. Is that home or away or both? Any other tweaks you'd recommend? I use the AF tweak although I may revert back to two DLFs since I don't score much.
 
I can't wholeheartedly recommend any tweaks as I am using the tactic untouched to great success, hard truth is that sometimes you just need better players.

would you recommend the instant result tactic and simulate match. i missed out on promotion and cant be bothered to play whole season again
