Dravid gone, great ball and key wicket for England

Can't wait for Sehwag to be back.. I miss his batting..

I heard Vaughan criticised Laxman, is it true? There were so many people talking about it.

He called Vaughan cheat it seems..

If true, thats a big if, why does every ex players act like a ****. Why can't they just shut their mouth and concentrate on game. **** Hussain talked about Indian tailenders can't bat, ffd Bhajji scored back to back 100s in the test and him and Zak have played many game changing innings.

Well Shastri gave s superb reply though, "Come to India, will show how they bat".[COLOR=#00e0]

[TD="class: PageTitle"]Gavaskar, Ganguly slam Vaughan on "vaseline" controversy

[TD="class: SummaryStyle, colspan: 2"]Former Indian captains Sunil Gavaskar and Sourav Ganguly today slammed Michael Vaughan for kicking up the 'vaseline controversy' unnecessarily, terming the comments by the ex-England skipper as ''ridiculous'' and aimed at a psychological game against the visitors.

[TD="class: overviewfont, colspan: 2"]"It's ridiculous to suggest for someone who has played international cricket. To say so about Indian players and more so about VVS Laxman is absurd," Ganguly said in an angry reaction.

"There has been sharp reaction within the commentator's box with Sunil Gavaskar suggesting Laxman would be within his right to haul Vaughan to the court. I have a feeling this issue could linger," said Ganguly.

Vaughan had yesterday tweeted that Laxman might have used vaseline on the edge of his bat to avoid detection by the hot spot technology after a caught-behind appeal against the batsman was neither supported by the umpire nor by the Decision Review System.

England's hat-trick hero Stuart Broad later said that he even had a feel of Laxman's bat to check if there was vaseline or any liquid in it but found nothing.

Ganguly was scathing in his attack on Vaughan, saying that the former England skipper was trying to play a psychological game against the Indians which he said will no longer work on the world number one visiting side.

"It's an important series and an attempt to go after the Indian batters. We know where it is coming from and why it is coming from. If you want to win the series, you got to be fair. This sort of press works in Australia and you are trying to do the same. I hope India has the last laugh," he said.

"It's been there in the past. I had this issue while I was captain. I stood up. I still remember the Flintoff issue at the Wankhede Stadium. You go to Australia and there is this word in the press that Indians don't travel well and they are difficult to work with. I hope this wakes up India and they are competitive. India should use it as a push to compete even harder," said Ganguly who is here as commentator.

Vaughan later tried to play down the controversy by suggesting that his tweets were written in jest but showed no signs of backing off, giving out sarcastic comments on the talk of taking him to court.

Responding to the talk of he being taken to court, Vaughan tweeted, "I think their has been a slight over-reaction to Vaseline gate. Taken to court? Sense of humour required for many I think."

Ganguly had his own tweet in retort: "Vaughan has got what he wanted — attention."

Ganguly said it is becoming difficult for the rest of the world to come to grips with the fact that India are world's number on Test side and they are also the world champions.

"It's an attempt to put the Indian team down. Indian cricket has gone up, they are the world's best Test side, they are the world champions, we have the IPL where players are well looked after. It doesn't go down well with everyone.

"It's easy to make claims. It would not look right, if suppose somebody said that England won the Ashes in 2005 because there was something wrong with the reverse swing England's pacemen managed," he said.

Talking about Broad's reaction at the end of the second day's play, Ganguly advised the youngster to rather concentrate on his cricket.

"Broad has just played two Tests. Before this, there was talk of him being dropped. He should not only try to earn world's respect but also the respect of fellow players," said Ganguly.

There was also an altercation between Nasser Hussain and Ravi Shastri when both were on air. While Shastri felt that Nasser had overstepped his brief by criticising India's stand on DRS, the former England captain retorted back by saying "He had every right to express his views" as that is what he has been paid for by the official broadcasters.

Well pathetic attempt for attention Mr. Vaughan. You can work for Aaj Tak channel here in India or India TV..

And we have Mr.Detective Stuart Broad or maybe Strauss said this..

On Saturday, though, England’s players were absolutely sure that Laxman was out. Stuart Broad had a long chat with umpire Rauf, trying to figure out what caused the noise. Replays had already confirmed that there was no contact between pad and pad either.
Later at the press conference, he revealed that he had cheekily felt Laxman’s bat when the ball went past his bat. “There was no sign of liquid though,” he said. He, however, claimed that Hot Spot was not showing the really faint edges. It is a bit of a flaw.”

Wow, what a ball delivary from Jimmy Anderson. Love to see the stumps fly, England on course for another brilliant victory.

Anyone else get the filling we're going to bowl them out for less than 100 lol

37-4.
Game over

Woah woah woah.

Tendulkar has been poor, and India are really struggling but:

a) Tendulkar is an incredible player - he has that ability to score runs with ridiculous ease whenever he wants.

b) He's been struggling, but he's sort of due a good innings. I genuinely wouldn't be surprised if he got his Test 100 now, when it's least expected!

c) England weren't doing much better at one point (or two) - India can easily still turn this into a good innings IMO.

But - yes, a lead of almost 450 is almost certainly too much for India to come back from.

even if tundulkar bats through, he'll run out of partners they haven't got strength in depth IMO

Ouch, that could be one way of getting Sachin out lol

Tendulkar is quickly running out of partners. This could be wrapped up before tea the way this is going lol. Happy for Timmy Bressan, deserved his chance and is taking it very well!

tbh it seemed inevitable we would win when they started their innings, if they had chased down our score, i think it would have been the highest run chase in history

yeah the highest run chase in history is 418 by west indies against aus in 02(ish) i think!

Well played England. We had a chance when England were 124/8 then Broad took the game away, even with his bowling he made a huge contribution.. Hopefully with Veeru back we will be much better..

Ravi Bopara and Steven Finn have been called up to the England squad for the 3rd test.

BBC Sport - Ravi Bopara replaces Jonathan Trott for Edgbaston Test

I would have preferred to have seen James Taylor called up ahead of Bopara (even though I am an Essex fan). Bopara has been poor all season but for a good knock he had against Leicestershire who are bottom of division two. I suppose the fact he can bowl a bit was the reason he's in the team. I hope he takes this opportunity because I don't think he will get too many other ones.

Do England have any English players in their team? I can see 3 South Africans, now Indian called up.. lol..Dont know how many Irish lads are playing for England..

think taylor should have been given a game, got 98 yesterday against sri lanka A

Yeah we thought we would give you a chance by calling up an Indian, considering how badly Indians have played this summer.

It's ok, he's just clutching at straws because his team are getting battered this series. :P Any excuse..
