At the end of the 08/09 season, CSKA Moscow manager Leonid Slutsky was sacked by the board after a poor campaign. The club finished in 5th place 3 points and 3 places behind big rivals Spartak Moscow. The team only just scraped a Europa League place so the new manager will have a tough task on his hands. Just 48 hours after the sacking of Mr Slutsky, ex FM-Base FC winger Alex Whitehouse was announced as the new gaffer in charge. He arrived with a bang, in his first press conference he had this to say -

''Last season was a poor one by our usually high standards, we have the squad capable to challenge for domestic honours but to also pose a threat abroad as well. We will wipe the slate clean and start afresh this campaign. I believe I will have the funds to strengthen this team as the board have already said that I will be backed in this transfer window. We have some very good players in this squad...''

Key players

Igor Akinfeev (Goalkeeper)
''He is a man widely renowned as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, and we as a club will do our utmost to ensure that he is at the club for years to come.''

Milos Krasic (Midfielder)
''A footballer not that well known outside of Russia to football fans. But football clubs amongst Europe are keeping tabs on him as he will become and already is a very good player''

Alan Dzagoev (Midfielder)
''Aside from Igor Akinfeev, this Russian international is arguably the hottest prospect to come out of the country for a while. And we are delighted to have him here''

Vagner Love (Striker) Currently on loan at Palmerias until 31.7.10
''A very good Brazilian striker, unfortunately he is on loan in his homeland until the end of July. In real life this loan was cancelled on the 14th January however I am unsure if this change will take effect on the game''

Tomas Necid (Striker)
''A young striker, he is only 20 years old but he is already a Czech international. At his age he has matured magnificently and currently has a goal record of 1 every 3 games so hopefully he has a bright future with us.''

Pre-season update with results and transfers to be posted shortly...

So did I ha, it is his name though - I'm only stating facts! And yeah, I like Russia etc so that's why. And thanks :)

I often make a habbit of going Moscow. I don't think there back four has changed in about five years.

Good Luck, Should not be too hard.

Good luck Al, I'm following (Y)

''New signings imminent!!''

Just days after his arrival, new manager signalled an immediate intent to strengthen the squad on his quest for European and domestic glory. ''I aim to get rid of the deadwood in the squad, I look to look towards players for the future and this is key in establishing long-term success, this is what I want to achieve here. I am an ambitious manager and signing youg quality players will only enhance the chances of success in years to come''

Rumours:
David N'Gog Would be happy to provide back up to Vagner Love and Necid on loan with a view to a permanent deal. 8/10
Edin Dzeko Whitehouse has expressed an interest in him, this would be dependant on gaining funds as he would prove to be a huge asset to the team. 4/10
Sandro Whitehouse's biggest target, has already stated to be a huge fan of the midfielder and his box to box abilities. 9/10
Ignacio Camacho Another midfielder whom Whitehouse has already said to be rather fond of. Definitely one for the future. 8/10
Asnaldi A solid Left Back from Argentina who can play across the back four. Could prove to be a good utility player. 7/10

In the pre-season transfer window, the club failed to attract the big names it had intended on. Missing out on players like Zuculini, Otamendi and Dzeko because the club could not afford the wages.

Apart from missing out on a couple of players, manager Alex Whitehouse declared himself very happy with the clubs transfers in the market. He also stated that although talking about key players at the start of the season, sometimes the offer is too good to reject.

Whitehouse also informed the media that he was very happy with how tight he found the defence in pre-season, in 8 games only conceding 3 goals and also scoring 12 goals - The goalscoring is something which does need to improve and we will be analysing the tactics in coming weeks

With pre-season over, Whitehouse's attentions turned to the Russian Super Cup game against reigning League champions Rubin Kazan ''It is a game that we will go out and win, but for me today isn't about the result. I just want to see a good team performance against a solid Kazan side''

The only bad news of this game being the injury to Alan Dzagoev as I would have liked to see him against good opposition. However the fortunate news is that he has passed a late medical and has been declared fit for the first game of the season in 3 days time at home, again, to Rubin kazan...

That's the thinking anyway! Thanks mate.

nice to see something different. CSKA bought Lustig and also Sandro in my game, but for less than you paid....1.6m for Lustig, and 9m for Sandro. GL though, should be interesting. Great name for a manager....Slutsky. rofl!

How much did you start with? Surely you had a lot extra once you sold Krasic?

Good Luck

March Review:

''Our season started mid-march and we have only played 2 league games so far. We have put in some good performances but our attack definitely needs improving as we are struggling to take our chances, I feel when the transfer window re-opens we do need to bring in another striker. However Vagner Love is rejoining us in August after his loan to Palmeiras.''

The performance was good however again we could not take our chances, we fell asleep at the back for one minute and that allowed Rubin to get infront of us. We should have won however a point against the reigning champions isn't a bad result.

This was a much better result however, we went 1-0 up and never looked back despite conceding a goal. Alan Dzagoev has so far looked very impressive for us. I am also please Traoré has got off the mark for us.

Player of the Month - Alan Dzagoev
2 games, 2 goals, 1 assist, av rat 7.95

Top Scorer - Alan Dzagoev
2 games, 2 goals

Most Assists - Guilherme
2 games, 2 assists

I started with £5.5million, after selling players I had 23million to spend. I have about 12m left which I am saving for the next transfer window.

''I am very proud of the players for this result. It was an even game and I didn't think that we would ****** a winner. But cue Lacina Traoré to bag the winner. The side are slowly starting to gel now and we are slowly climbing up the league.''
