Name: FC Barcelona
Year founded: 1899
Status: Professional
Rep.: Worldwide
Chairman: Loves the club
Manager: Josep Guardiola(next manager you :p)
Captain: Carles Puyol
Expectations: Winner- 12 million euros

Hii. FC Barcelona is my fav football. It is truly said that it is MORE THAN A CLUB!!

Although it is one of the easiest challenge on FM,it requires some good gameplay. I have compiled a small guide to be successful with FC Barcelona.
PS: I would recommend using my winter patch(not promoting) since many changes are done here like adding shirt spoonsors deal,transfer of afellay,improvement of many players like Pedro etc etc...
download patch

I start with the players(position wise).
Barcelona already have world-class players for each position so there is no need to buy ones but the players are ageing so i would suggest buying young players who will be good enough for first team positions in future!! ;)

Goalkeepers:

* Victor Valdes
*Jose Manuel Pinto
*Ruben Mino

Victor Valdes is easily your first choice keeper and he is young too(keeper wise). Although Pinto and Mino are decent backups,i would recommend selling them and buy Eneyeama as backup who will cost just 275k euros(sweet deal huh).

In:

Vincent Eneyeama: 275k

Out:

Mino: 1.1 Million
Pinto: 1.4 Million

Defenders:

*Carles Puyol
*Gerrard Pique
*Gabriel Milito
*Daniel Alves
*Adriano
*Abidal
*Maxwell
*Marc Bartra
*Marc Muniesa
*Andreu Fontas

Our central defense is really strong. With captain fantastico Puyol and Pique in center and Milito as backup,i would consider it as the best defense in the Liga. Our fullbacks are attack minded but they are decent at back as well. I would recommend bringing Maxwell into first team from B team as he is excellent backup to Abidal(obvious first choice). Muniesa and Barta are good for future. Daniel Alves is world class RB and the obvious choice and Adriano is decent as backup. Sell Fontas for decent price. Would recommend one CB as backup. Ranocchia or Mexes would be perfect backups..
Go for Romario(RB) for 275k and Dodo(LB) for 1.3Mn as as future stars. You can go for Daniel Alves tutoring Romario and Maxwell tutoring Dodo.

In:

Romario(Vitoria)--> 275k
Dodo---> 1.3 Million
Ranocchia----> 15 Million or Mexes----> 7 Million

Out:

Andreu Fontas---> 3.5 Million

Midfielders:

*Xavi
*Messi
*Iniesta
*Pedro
*Mascherano
*Busquets
*Keita
*Jefferen
*Nolito
*Thiago
*Afellay

I would consider it the strongest area in the Barcelona midfield. With the likes of Mascherano,Iniesta,Xavi,Messi,Pedro in midfield,i would consider it as the strongest midfield in the whole world by miles. Also there are Busquets & Afellay are decent backups and can be used in cup matches. Nolito,Keita and Jeffren should be disposed off. Go for Lucas of Sao Paulo as he as fee release clause of 4.2 million and turns out class!! Also Anthony Annan as backup for DM position(if any of Mascherano or Busquets injured). You can also promote Thiago from B squad..

In:

Lucas----> 4.2 Million
Anthony Annan---> 3 Million

Out:

Jeffren-----> 2.3 Million
Nolito-----> 1.3 Million
Keita---> 4 Million or loan

Strikers:

*David Villa
*Bojan Krkic

David Villa is the obvious star man here. He is just world class and i would play him as lone striker. Bojan has great potential and easily he is a quality backup for Villa. I would buy Sani Emmanuel as he is available for about 18k(tribunal) and turns out quality. Also Vaclav Kadlec for 1.4 Million or Lukaku for 6.5 mn(since you have Bojan as future poacher there already,you may require a targetman with huge potential if you play 2 forwards).

In:

Sani Emmanuel---> 18k
Vaclav Kadlec(1.5 Mn) or Lukaku(6.5 Mn)

Out:

none

Summary(cheapest possible selected from OR options):

In:

Sani Emmanuel: 18k
Vaclav Kadlec: 1.5 mn
Lucas: 4.2 Mn
Annan: 3 Mn
Mexes: 7 Mn
Romario: 275k
Dodo: 1.3 Mn
Eneyeama: 275k

Total: 17.6 Million euros

Out:

Jefferen: 2.3 Mn
Nolito: 1.3 Mn
Keita: 4 Mn
Fontas: 3.5 mn
Mino: 1.1 Mn
Pinto: 1.3 Mn

Total: 13.5 Million euros

STAFF:

For a successful team,staff should be also QUALITY and staff at Barcelona(surprisingly) is ****. So,in this section i will post possible staff signings!! ;)

*** Man:

Tito Vilanova-> He is a decent assistant and i would suggest to stick with him.

Scouts:

There are so many scouts in the form of Amor,Benaiges,Boada,bojan krkic,Lainz,costa,planchart,costas,Roura,Torrent,Valentin,Vaya.

I would recommend keeping Boada,Lainz,Valentin & Vaya and give mutual termination to all others and hire Tord Grip and Simon Hunt & Favini

First team coaches:
There are no first team coaches or simple coaches in the team so there is need to buy.
I would recommend McGuinness,Farrell,Sciuto,Delgado meco,Eastick,Rota as COACH role..

Youth coaches:

I would recommend sacking all the youth coaches since they are all ****. You can go for Eastick and Rota(discussed above) for youth coach role and also there are more options like
Bernhard Peters, Quique Estebaranz.

GK coach:

Carles Busquets-> He is a decent GK coach but you should go for better GK coaches than him. I would suggest Joop Hiele,Pedro Alba,Malizia etc..

Fitness coach:

I would recommend sacking cos and getting Andy Renshaw.

Physios:

Keep Ricart and sack all others and go for Marco Frigerio, Salvatore Libra,Phillipe Saffroy

Summary of staffs:

In:

Tord Grip,Simon Hunt,Favini - SCOUT
McGuinness,Farrell,Sciuto,Delgado meco - COACH
Eastick,Rota,Bernhard Peters, Quique Estebaranz - YOUTH COACH
Pedro Alba,Malizia - GK COACH
Andy Renshaw - FITNESS COACH
Marco Frigerio, Salvatore Libra,Phillipe Saffroy - PHYSIOS

Out:

Amor,Benaiges,bojan krkic,costa,planchart,costas,Roura,Torrent - SCOUT
Sergi,Oscar,Guitrat, Pimienta,Artiga(all the youth coaches)- YOUTH COACH
Carles Busquets- GK COACH
Cos- FITNESS COACH
Brau,Medina,Munill,Pruna - Physios

Extras:

In board room, two things i usally get accepted is Feeder club(for increasing club's profile in other country) and increase percentage of transfer revenue. other things never get accepted!!

Tactics(formation):

I would recommend 4-3-3 tactic and my line-up would be:

GK: Valdes: goalkeeper(defend)
RWB: Alves: wing back(support)
LWB: Abidal: wing back(defend)
CB: Puyol: Limited defender(stopper)
CB: Pique: Centeral defender(defend)
DM: Mascherano: defensive midfielder(defense)
CM: Xavi: Advanced playmaker(attack)
AM :Iniesta: Attacking mid(attack)
RW : Messi: Winger(attack)
LW: Pedro: Winger(support)
Striker: Villa: Traquertista(attack)

Set pieces:
Set pieces are vital for victory. Sometimes,a freekick,penalty or corner can be the difference in a game. Here are my suggestions for the set pieces.

Corner takers:

Left: 1> Xavi 2>Iniesta 3> Adriano
Right: 1> Adriano(keep him as first choice whether not in squad) 2> Pedro 3>Abidal

Set corners instructions in team instructions to FAR POST and in player instructions of your best header(Pique),set it attack far post. He will score loads especially when Xavi strike from left corner... ;)

Freekicks:

1> Xavi 2> Villa
PS: i don't know much about freekicks so its your choice how u play.

throw ins:

Right: Alves
Left: Abidal

Penalties:

1> Villa 2> Messi 3> Xavi

It took me so much effort to make this guide. Please positive comments and suggestions!!! ;)

There isn't much need for a guide in playing as Barcelona, as people often just buy youngsters, use tactics and win quite a lot. They have a world-class squad that doesn't need much added to and success is inevitable.

The guide itself could be improved, but I am not going to lament it.

I use the Destroyer (Busquets) Passer (Xavi) Creator (iniesta) i just thought deeplying playmaker would do more passing then advance playmaker? Might try it my tactic still has room for improvement,

Unsure about buying Lucas for the future. This will stunt the growth of Thiago who has on of the highest PA's on the game.

Mate,Thiago will play in position of Xavi(playmaker) and Lucas as attacking mid in place of Iniesta. :) :)

You will, of course, have good results with this tactic also because of the huge quality of Barca players, but in my opinion there are a few things you can do better:

Positions:
- Pique is the classic ball playing defender
- Xavi - deep lying playmaker
- Iniesta - advanced playmaker
- Mascherano/ Busquets - ball winning mids (support) - i see no point in playing a DM, the defence is very strong even without it
- Messi on the right, inside forward
- I guess Villa can play as poacher, but it is quite a waste of his technical capability, I play him as Treq and he scores and assists a lot.

Transfers:
- selling Fontas in the first window would be a mistake, he is a decent back-up player, also very versatile. Also, I think he is the 3rd most talented youngster after Thiago and Munniesa.

As the current team is very good and can go without much changes for 2 seasons, your main transfer targets should be wonderkids and probably a world class midfielder to replace Xavi after 2 seasons (Puyol is covered by Munniesa). Thiago will never develop enough to replace Xavi (I ussualy go for Hamsik, Kroos or if everything goes wonderful, for Fabregas)

Hey really good points mate. I think Villa @ Trequartista(sp) and Messi at Inside Forward would be better but for me Xavi as Adv.Pl and iniesta as Att. Mid works better than any other combination but its your choice and normally,Barcelona don't have enough money(in starting) to buy Hamsik,Fabregas etc unless u r using LFC MARSHALL patch!

Good work. Also Fontas isn't bad but Barca get some money buy selling him,but again,its manager's choice!! ;)

Of course you don't have the money to buy any of them in the first season. I was saying that you need a replacement for Xavi after 2 years. In theory, if you do well, after the first season, you should afford at least Hamsik. As far as the transfers proposed i agree with all "out" except Fontas, but the "in" ones are kind of poor. Except for Dodo (which can make it on my shortlist, but not as a definite purchase), the rest of them are useless. If you play Barcelona, you really should focus only on wonderkids (there are a dozen of shortlists). You don' t need 3rd class back-up players. If you manage to get rid at a decent price of the old and the useless in your squad, you should get in the first season very young woderkids (Nangis, Areola, Varane, Lukaku etc.) to play in your U19.
