A thing I've noticed (playing with mid-table teams – usually test tactics with Sassuolo/Atalanta/Granada) is that this tactic is really consistent against equal or smaller teams, but struggles to get consistent results (or matchstatistics) against bigger teams.
At the moment I'm testing using this one in matches that I'm favourite (except if it's down to a big reputation-team underperforming – eg. i had Villarreal sitting in 18th, making me the favourite), and TFF Supernova v2 Balanced in matches that the opposition is favourites to win. It works pretty well, as it's almost he same players needed :)

Maybe give it a go someone? For me this seems to be the most consistent setup – at least with the teams i usually test with :)

What about changing the mentality to attack when you are the favourite? Or try to use the attack version from the op.

Ohhh, it's the other way around.. I use this tactic (with counter-mentality) when I'm favourite - not 100% sure why it works, but seems like it gets the opposing team more forward, and thereby opens up their defense. Also i dont get as many fastbreak goals against me :)

Eg. I tested a bit with Celta yesterday. In the first match against Levante the media had Levante as favourite – played the match 5 times with both tactics and Supernova was WAY more consistent. Next match was against Sporting with me as heavy favourites – here i won 5/5 with Deadly Circle (counter-mentality). And it's the same story in the next 10 matches. Deadly Circle opens up teams like Getafe, Betis, and Granada like a charm, whereas Supernova gets solid results against Valencia, Villarreal, and Barcelona (actually it got a deserved 3-1 victory against Barca).

But yeah, not sure if it's just random, but it's been the most consistent strategy for me with Sassoulo, Granada, and Celta.

maybe it was the formation the teams you played against used in the match?

Could be.. but as i said, I've tested it with 3 different teams in 3 different saves for 12-15 matches all replayed 5 times with each tactic. But yeah, I'll proberly test a bit more - just wanted to put it out there if anyone was interested ;)

I've tried something similar before 16.2 patch, to be honest scores are way too random, and that was testing each tactic reloading 30 matches each. I even tested one tactic for 120+ games to see if 30 matches were enough to have a pattern, but not, each block of 30 matches were somewhat different from other blocks. I noticed that when using instant results on FM Touch the results were more consistent also.

My goal was to create something different from the V1, but with the same formation. Only control version this time and we are now using some OIs. The 2 CDs are sitting a bit deeper on cover duty, RCM will be CDd, but still assigned to make through balls, LCM will be venturing forward more to create an additional dimension, FBs and WMs unchanged and now we have two F9s, who are now closing down.

Training

Put the tactic to all slots at the start of pre season and match tactics as match training. In pre season the general training should be fitness and team cohesion later.
During the season the general training should be balanced and after the tactic is fluid, change the match training to defensive positioning.

Corners

Use the best corner takers and aim to the penalty spot. If one your central midfielders are taking corners, change their position with players having good long shots attribute.

Have fun!
