On the 24th March 2016, Inter Milan Chairman Erick Thohir invited me to his offices at the San Siro to attend a job interview to be Inter's new manager. I didn't hesitate to say yes to this amazing opportunity.

I left my family at Teesside Airport and flew to Milan, where I was met and driven to the San Siro by a chauffeur. On the way I was getting carried away by thinking of places we could live.

I was blown away as to the size of the stadium and areas I'd be working and overlooking, and the quality of players I'd be managing. This is a dream job, so I knew I'd need to really sell myself during my interview.

On the 27th March 2016, Inter Milan Chairman Erick Thohir offered me the job as manager of his football club. They were only offering me £16,000 p/w, but I managed to negotiate for £18,000 p/w. They are also offering me a huge transfer budget of £24.5m, and expect me to qualify for the EURO Cup. They are currently 6th in Serie A on 46 points, with 7 games remaining in the season.

I asked the Chariman if I could delay my decision for a week to discuss things in finer detail with my family, which he granted. Ok, it's a 3 year contract and worth £4,000 p/w less than what I'm currently on at Middlesbrough, but Inter Milan are such a huge club, with an amazing team of players. I think it's going to be nigh on impossible to refuse this opportunity.

well done mate great stuff and congrats on getting offered the inter milan job keep it up

After 32 games we sit 8th in the Premier League with 50 points.

I'd hoped for 6 points this month, but we were amazing and got a maximum 9 points.

I won Manager of the Month for March 2016.

April 2016 fixtures – With my decision as to whether to finally accept the Inter Milan offer or not still not 100% made up, I'll be playing each games as it comes in April, until I've made my decision.

Middlesbrough 1 - 3 West Ham Utd

Such a pitiful, pitiful performance today by Boro. The game was as good as over after only 24 minutes.

Raul De Tomas did score a consolation goal, but my players offered nothing challenging in this match.

I walked onto the sideline at full time and applauded the fans. I think my decision has been made up, and I thank each and every supporter. My (almost) 2 year reign as Middlesbrough Football Club Manager was good, but it has come to an end.

On 3rd April 2016, I left Middlesbrough Football Club to become the Inter Milan manager.

I left Boro in a great position, 8th, and financially secure, £25m. I made some great signings and also a few duds.

My Boro record reads, 1 Promotion, 87 games played, 43 wins, 17 draws, and 27 losses. We scored 138 goals, and conceded 111 goals.

My family and I arrived in Milan on the 3rd April 2016, and Inter were playing at Chievo Verona the very same day, so I didn't have time to unpack, as it was a quick dash to catch the team coach to Verona. We'd be house viewing another day, for now we'd be staying in a very nice apartment for a few days.

On the coach I heard languages I couldn't understand.....I must learn Italian and quite quickly. For now I have a translator which the club have kindly provided me with. His name is Giuseppe.
