On the 23rd December 2015, Alan Pardew has been sacked as Crystal Palace manager. Palace currently sit 19th in the Premier League on 14 points.

Liverpool 4 - 0 Middlesbrough

Boro were mauled yet again, this time by Liverpool, with Philippe Coutinho bagging a hat trick. Liverpool had 44 shots with 25 on target.

I sat in my office pondering our team and their season stats. I'm disappointed with Emmanuel Ledesma. OK, I'm playing him as a winger, whereas last season he was in an attacking midfield role. This season he's only managed 1 goal in 13 matches and his rating is 6.62.

I'm also extremely disappointed with my two strikers, Kike and Erwin Hoffer, who have amassed a paltry 7 goals between them.

With almost £17m in the bank I'm going to ask the board for more transfer money, as we currently have none to spend. They refused to give me any extra money.

On the 30th December 2015, Huddersfield Town Chairman Dean Hoyle invited me to attend an interview for the club's vacant managerial position. Huddersfield are currently in 18th place in the Premier League with 15 points.

It was flattering, however I don't see myself at Huddersfield, so I decided to reject the invite.

Sunderland 2 - 1 Middlesbrough

Sunderland came back from 1-0 down to win this fierce derby match. Emmanuel Ledesma getting our goal, but woeful defending cost us today, as Jermain Defoe bagged a brace.

After a terrible month we sit 9th in the Premier League after 20 games, with 27 points.

I'd hoped for 8 points this month, but we only managed 5 points.

January2016 Fixtures

2nd - Sheffield Utd (FA Cup Round 3 Home)
10th - Chelsea (Home)
13th - West Bromwich Albion (Away)
16th - Leicester City (Home)
26th - Watford (Away)
30th - Manchester Utd (Away)

I'm been ambitious after our recent form and believe we can get at least 7 points this month.

On the 31st December 2015, Crystal Palace Chairman Steve Parish invited me to attend an interview for the club's vacant managerial position. Crystal Palace are currently in 19th place in the Premier League with 14 points.

They have a good squad, and a move to the capital would be good for me and my family, so I accepted the invitation.

On the 1 January 2016, Boro Chairman Steve Gibson invited me to talk to him and the board in a bid to keep me at the club.

They didn't give me any extra transfer funds after the last board meeting we had, so I knew that they wouldn't today. So I decided to decline the invite.

On the 2nd January 2016, Crystal Palace approached me to become their next manager. I need to have a good think on this one, it can't be a snap decision.

Crystal Palace were offering me less of a wage than I'm currently on at Middlesbrough, so after a couple of days deliberation I decided to decline the offer. My season aim is to stay with Boro and see where we finish in the Premier League, and also see what transfer kitty I'm given next season because we are are making £3m-£4m profit a month from TV revenue and match day income etc, All of this will determine whether I stay another season or look to move elsewhere.

On the 2nd January 2016, Middlesbrough Football Club have accepted a £1.25m total bid from Sunderland Football Club for left back George Friend.

I decided to play a weaker team against League 1 team Sheffield Utd. I thought it would be an easy ride to the FA Cup Round 4.

FA Cup Round 3

Middlesbrough 0 - 1 Sheffield Utd

Resting several key players proved to be a costly mistake as our current poor form continues.

Stefan Scougall got Sheffield Utd's winner after been put through 1 on 1 with keeper Dimitris Konstantopoulos.

On the 4th January 2016, Middlesbrough Football Club reserve Goalkeeper Connor Ripley signed a new 2 year contract worth £2,400 p/w.
-------------------------------------------------------------
On the 5th January 2016, Huddersfield Town Football Club appointed Mark McGhee as their new manager.
------------------------------------------------------------
On the 5th January 2016, Middlesbrough Football Club's backup Goalkeeper Tomas Mejias signed a 1 year extension to his contract for £10,000 p/w.
----------------------------------------------------------
On the 5th January 2016, Middlesbrough Football Club midfielder Sergio Alvarez injured his neck during training and is out for 3 weeks.

Middlesbrough 1 - 2 Chelsea

Considering Boro lost, I felt we created enough chances to get a draw, but unfortunately it wasn't meant to be, as Chelsea won live on TV.

John Terry scored an early goal for Chelsea but then Cristian Benavente equalised after slotting the ball past Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois. Loic Remy won it for Chelsea in the second half with a close ranged effort.

I reverted back to our Championship tactic, 4-3-1-2 and we looked good today.
---------------------------------------------------------

Having lost our last 6 games it was imperative that we got something today at The Hawthorns or we'd be slowly sliding down the table, towards the dreaded bottom 3.

West Bromwich Albion 0 - 2 Middlesbrough

Cristian Benavente opened with a cracking 20 yard free kick, and then he put Raul De Tomas through to make it 2-0.

This win was a great feeling, and our Championship tactic proved well today.

On the 15th January 2016, Middlesbrough Football Club have announced the signing of Greek International left back Jose Holebas for £350,000 from Italian giants Roma.

Holebas has great experience playing at both Roma and Olympiakos.

Middlesbrough 2 - 0 Leicester City

Another great 2-0 victory for Boro, as super sub Cristian Benavente helped win us this game with an excellent weighted through ball to Kike for the opener. Raul De Tomas finished Leicester off 6 minutes later.

I decided that I'd been letting the pressure of trying to stop a free fall of poor results get to me too much, so I took my family away for a weekend to try and relax, no football talk, just relaxation.

I am just delighted you didnt take the Palace job, make Boro Champions of Europe! lol
