First of all, which tactic do you use? Saudade or Cinderella man? Also, have your wing forwards do special training to help them contribute goals and assists, to gain new features and open crosses. I would add also that if your inside forwards are also tall, they will score more goals. In fm24 a lot of crosses go to the far post, where usually the inside forward is. So if he is tall, he will score the header

I play the matches myself. When I see a red card, I take off the offensive midfielder. Also, I recommend you to continue with Cinderella Man, not Doctore. Have fun playing...
