It's a huge day in my mangement career. Off to a sub-par start with no wins to date, we come up against a decent Croatian side. Michael Carrick forces his way into the lineup today in place of Gazza B.

The 4-2-3-1 has been my trusty formation for years now, throughout my football managerial career. It relies on a strong spine to the team. A centre back, a centre midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a striker. Those four players need to be quality players, and that's what I have with England.

As I said, Gerrard and Rooney fire, the team fires. These two both have stonkers and between them, they were involved in all the goals. They inter-linked brilliantly and got other players involved in the game. Rooney's through ball to Gerrard for Stevie's goal was sensational.

I'm delighted that we're through, we've qualified for the World Cup. Aim 1 acheived. I'm going to be doing some rotation work with the squad and see if we can still win games with a less-than-best-XI, as I like to call it.

It's a chance for a few youngsters to show me they have what it takes. Although after today, they're going to need to be on top form to win me over.

Brilliant updates mate.

I'm quite happy with the results against Holland and Croatia, however, the Slovenia one quite simply wasn't good enough, but I know you're working towards a good team, so I'll let you off.

Paul would of beaten Slovenia :'(.

Anyway your doing decent i guess. Would be better if you used your own tactic though :S

Paul would have got the job if he had taken it seriously.

I'm using an edited version of it, tbh.

The majority of the Team Instructions have changed.

Yeah, if there's interest. I'll do an update in a sec and see who's commenting/interested.

I'll be online all day, and I'm interested. When do you think you'll get to the WC?

Depends how much I play today and tomorrow. Could get there tomorrow, I think.

Ok mate, good stuff. Where's this update you said you were giving ;)?

Nothing's happenening in-game. :P

By the way, if anyone has any ideas on how to improve my updates, just tell me.

Your updates are pretty good mate!

What date you on in game at the moment?

Cracking out the champagne

What a day, what a night.

My first win as England Gaffer and it was such an emphatic one. Got a pounding headache this morning, as I decided to have a few drinks with the lads. They looked like they could use the morale boost.

The fans went wild, it was brilliant. Everything clicked. If we play like that, we can win the World Cup; for sure.

The standard FIFA email again, and we're still 7th in the world. Gah, I'd have like to have moved up a spot or two, but no matter. We've qualified. Aim 1, acheieved.

I had a look at the points and see that we're now on 93 more than when I took over the reigns of the England side. Happy with that.

Just deciding my squad for the game against the ol' Ukrainians. Got a few interesting ideas.

Two more good updates there mate, I hope the next manager follows what you're doing!

If there is a next manager, of course.

Squad announcement day today, it's always busy.

But particularly when you pick players that don't expect to be picked. I've picked a good squad which can easily win games, but I'd like to see how the new guys go. Particularly in the GK slot, I am unsure on that.

Dawson, Shawcross and Woodgate come into the defense. All solid players that could do a job at international level. I'm going to get to know them and their playing skills so I have a good idea of who to put in the World Cup Squad.

Rodwell, Downing and Walcott (he'll be playing RM if he plays) take up the absent roles in midfield. All three are very exciting players and worthy of England caps. Jack's got a huge future ahead of him and will take a big role after this World Cup, no doubt.

Strikers are the same. I am almost certain those 4 will go to the World Cup.

Overall, not expecting anything special from the lads, but I'd like 4 points from these two games.

Procter Interview With Sky Sports

Sky Sports - I am stood next to head of the FA Tony Procter, he is going to be answering a few questions for us about how he has assessed Ed Ames' first few games as England manager.

Sky Sports - So then Tony, are you still standing by your appointment of Ed Ames, following his first three games in charge?

Tony - Definatley, he's done a great job remaining unbeaten. We've got Ukraine next, and i'm expecting a win and nothing less. We have qualified for the World Cup, and I expect us to win every match up until then now. If we start playing rubbish, I will not hesitate to sack him.

Sky Sports - There have been rumours that you are looking to appoint a new Vice-Chairman to help you make the major decisons with reagrds to the nation, is there any truth in them?

Tony - Yes there is. I'll be sending out applications form later today, and I'm hoping to have a new one appointed by tonight.

Sky Sports - Sky Sources revealed this morning, that you are unhappy with the current manager, and you think his tactics are the reasons that he has conceded at least a goal in every game, is this true?

Tony - No.

Sky Sports - Thanks for your time, Tony. I know you are very busy at the moment so we appreciate it.

Tony - No problem.

Game day, against Ukraine. A tricky one, they've got some outstanding players and with with the fact we're already qualified, I'll take a draw but I think we can still win. I know the Chairman expects a win, but as I said, I'd take 4 points from these two games.

I've decided to see how a few guys play to get an idea for my World Cup Squad. Downing, Walcott, Rodwell, Green and Dawson all get starts today and I'd like to see some promising performances.

The side without Lampard doesn't look nearly as good, sort of flat, and once I've got my first team back, we could be unstoppable.

I got the draw in the end, as I expected. But we should have won, the desicion for the penalty was horrible. Rodwell didn't get anywhere near him.

But we can talk about things like that all day and it won't make any difference, all I can do now is win against Belarus.

Procter Disappointed With Ukraine Result

Tony Procter has said he is 'extremely' disappointed with the Ukraine result yesterday. He was expecting a win, like he said in his interview, and he has also confirmed that should England not beat Belarus, Ed Ames will be sacked as manager.

He said 'I like Ed, he's a nice guy, but my job is to bring this nation the World Cup home, and if we can't beat Belarus, we don't deserve to be in the World Cup, I can confirm Ed will be sacked should we not beat Belarus'
