Ha. Poor old Fabrice Muamba, still soldiering on in the U21s at the age of 23.

Bit ****** that Wilshere's in the squad. He's now a full (and arguably regular) international & is clearly in Capello's short-term plans. Add that to the fact he's already played 50 times this season (44 + 6) and will probably play a similar amount next season, and now he's going to play in the U21s championship, so he'll have no Summer break at all and he's still only 19.

Major burnout and a lack of respect from Pearce tbh. Doubt Liverpool fans are happy with Carroll's inclusion, either.

How is it a lack of respect, Wilshere actually wanted to be in the squad, Pearca wanted the best, Capello said he'd give him the best and back any decision, this has been coming for some monthis

Lack of respect to Wenger (and Arsenal) who has looked after Wilshere and tried to make sure he isn't burnt out. TBH - at this moment in time, I think AW knows best for him. Yes, Wilshere wants to play and perhaps knows his body better etc. but Wenger is a master at nurturing young talent and will know how much a player his age can play realistically without getting exhausted.

Of course interests of England U21 at stake for Pearce, but not like he doesn't have any other options and considering Capello will probably use Wilshere in his qualifying games next season, Wilshere will be playing non-stop for almost 2 years (inc. this year) if not more if we bear in mind he'll probably be in the Euros/Olympics. He's 20 and an injury is bound to come along at this rate.

Why do they need Andy Carroll? Surely Sturridge, Welbeck, Hooper, Wickham are more than enough good strikers.

I detect a club before country man here. Pearce gets to choose whoever he wants if they meet the requirements, if he didnt think Wilshere could hack the tournement then im sure he wouldnt have picked him. People complain when England go out of tournements but how else can they get used to this type of situation because there is so little tournement football and you have to grab every chance you get especially at this age.

Because Carroll is better than all of them?

He wants to win with his best, and that includes wilshere and carroll, both of whom want to play. Bout time we actually paid more respect to this tournament, a lot of this side will be playing together in the near future, good that they go through this together

If Wenger thinks he is burnt out then surely he would have rested him more times this season? The lad is 19 he could play 100 games a season if he wanted too.

He's also struggled with his fitness this season. Suarez is gonna be playing in the Copa America in the off-season, which is fair enough, it is a prestigious enough tournament. But Carroll is playing in a pointless tournament, when our strike force is already very strong without him.

I am a club before country man, yes. Arsenal at the moment mean more to me than England..

Pearce wants to win the tournament - he'll pick whoever he wants regardless of whether they're going to be exhausted at the end of it and regardless of whether they're 23+ and regardless of whether it's going to affect the club.

If John terry can mysteriously pull out of England squads in the Srs and be fit a week later, why shouldn't Wenger have a say in whether Wilshere plays?

Grabbing every opporunity = playing in ANOTHER tournament, whilst also playing (probably) in either the Olympics or Euros and another 4 competitions for Arsenal next season? You don't think he'll be burnt out after that?

and there in lies the problem, its not a pointless tournament, every other top nation takes this very seriously, we dont and look where thats got us...

This ^. Same argument goes for Wilshere: McEachran, Muamba, Henderson etc. could all play instead of a regular senior international.

If Wenger thinks he is burnt out then surely he would have rested him more times this season?

Because Diaby, Wilshere, Rosicky have all struggled for fitness and there's a difference between playing 40 games for your club with a manager who will take you off if you're looking tired and playing a pointless tournament in which he'll play every couple of days ON TOP of 40 games a season for Arsenal.

The lad is 19 he could play 100 games a season if he wanted too.

He'll play around that in 2 seasons by the looks of things. If we say 40/5 games/season for Arsenal + 10 for each International Tournament.

So we should pick the players that have been on the bench all season?

It's important for these players to get tournament experience.

Because as we all know Mr Terry and Capello didnt have the best relationship and you can see why Terry would be less motivated to work under someone he wasent seeing eye to eye with. Also Terry is not a youngster and has had all the tournement expirence he needs but Wilshere needs more and while he is young is the best time to do it.

If Wilshere is not fit to go then i fully expect Pearce not to take him, wouldnt need him anyway with Super Josh McEachran in the side.

But Wilshere is currently better than the players you named. Pearce is going into this tournement thinking 2 things, one is to help the bringing through of youth players into the senior side and the other is the win the tournement and to win it you need the best players available to you.

The youngsters need nurturing, not getting thrown into a tournament after playing a full seasons football with fitness problems. Kenny's been trying to give slowly bring Andy into the first team, rather than just throwing him and risking him getting injured. He's going to miss pre-season with us now and risk what we've been wary of, for an U-21 tournament..

Terry's relationship w Capello is nothing to do with it - He pretends to be injured for England games so he can play for his club. Yet he's a more important player for England than Wilshere will be, probably.

Wilshere may risk getting burnt out but what about Javier Hernandez. He's going to be playing in two full international tournaments in the summer.

Its all ok resting a player but in the end he needs matches and pretty soon enough Carroll will need games and Liverpools games are running out so its lucky for him he has this tournement.

Like i say if you had 2 jobs and one of yours jobs you were well respected and loved and got on with your boss but the 2nd job you were hated and dis-respected and undermimed by your boss would you want to go?
