Oh and by the way Arsenal, this is what Bendtner can do when used to his strengths i.e crosses in the box.

I know. He has been criminally misused by Wenger. Almost same thing as AVB using Lukaku as winger. Glad to see him do well and perhaps add some more money on his price tag.

What, havent we done this like 3 pages ago? Some people make it sound like players who show slightest signs of decline need to be shot in the head immidiately. Cech may declined, but he is still is pretty **** good and quite young of a goalie. Some of them don't even peak before they're 30.

Admitedly i would label him as "physical" goalkeeper who has enjoyed success through his excellent athleticism, footwork, ridicolous arms reach and intimidating opposition with his large frame, rather then through positioning and anticipation, and they generally decline earlier. But i wouldn't give up on him just yet.

Still good I agree, but when you have one of the best upcoming goalkeepers in the world, giving Cech a four year contract is a bit stupid imo, not like he will ever be a bench warmer and I can't see how Courtois can not be in the first team by next season (2013-2014) let alone another three years after that.

4 years doesn't mean he has to see out that 4 years as first team keeper. Maybe 2 years and then take a back seat.

I can't see Cech ever being a bench warmer, his reputation is too high for him to play a role like that, he would want to leave no doubt.

Well then that will be something that will have to happen. We will cross that bridge when we come to it. At the moment Cech is our number 1 and still good enough to be our number 1. Until then Courtois needs games and i cannot think of many better places than Atletico Madrid.

Take him to a Premier League club, see how good he is in a physical league, as you seen with David De Gea, it is a completely different kettle of fish trying to adapt to the BPL compared to La Liga.

He did say when he first joined maybe he will have 2 years abroad and then one in the PremierLeague before joining Chelsea.

Courtois needs to play in the Prem before he is ready. Like De Gea he doesnt get tested aerially. And that is something he needs to experience, also like De Gea, he is still very slight, because he is obviously still very young.

But he has played in Belgium not just Spain unlike De Gea. He and De Gea has the same type of body frame as Cech i'd say.

But he hasnt been submitted to that aerial bombardment. The manner is still quite unique to england. Once both young keepers master that, they will be outstanding players.

Reguarding Cech - how can anyone possibly begrudge him of a new contract given his heroics to the back end of last season? He can still easily play at this level beyond that deal, not to mention that a longer contract adds to his value so it benefits the club should they look to sell in a few years time. Curtois isn't ready yet.

There's nothing wrong with a bit of competition. Just look at Szczesny and De Gea who are both similar age. Szczesny became uncontested as first pick quite fast and while he's overall decent, i wouldn't say he improved a bit. De Gea bounced onto bench and back , and at times you could literally see him improve rapidly almost from game to game.

Surely Thibaut Courtois has to be no.1 for Chelsea next season, Petr Cech is good... but Courtois is at the same level if not better. Another case of reputation before ability!!!!!!

umm, No ?

So anyone still disagreeing that Huntelaar should have started instead of the mega over rated RVP who missed like 4 goals before scoring 1? A typical finisher > some tikitaka like striker any day for national competitions. RVP is ultra over rated player in the other hand - classes under Gomez and Huntelaar. This is a finisher, a world class striker: Marco Van Basten compilation - YouTube

RVP isnt over-rated, nor is the problem all up front. The big issue is that Holland had zero ability to defend. The goals they conceded were right off the training ground. Robben was far too selfish, and the deep duo provided no threat, unlike Germanys deep duo

van Persie scored, forced an excellent save from Neuer and forced another save from a difficult attempt with the early volley. Compare that to Huntelaar who could barely hold onto posession never mind trouble the keeper.

I can understand you might prefer to see Huntelaar start over RVP, but the way you keep labelling him as overrated and a prima donna is making you look silly.

Indeed, he is showing his own bias with his personal attacks on a player.

The issue with this game wasn't even about Van Persie or Huntelaar, the Dutch had bigger problems deeper, certainly their defensive shape was terrible.

I guess he just accidently had a class better stats over Gomez, while having less apps , in a lesser team(they may have finished 3rd but they're nowhere near dominative position Bayern has), all while playing in far more competetive league. Aye?

If you want to pick on "primadonnas", you might want to rage over Robben who has shitiest couple of months of his career, sinking both his club and his national side. But then he doesn't play in Prem so i guess he's off the hook.
