Looks like the quarters are a bit bottom heavy as the probability is that Spain vs England & France vs Italy for now. While the first two quarters will be a bit more straightforward with Germany vs Greece and Portugal vs Czech.

Germany still seem to be odds on favourites for the title though

I want a match between England and Italy. Hopefully the miracle will happen :)

yeah, like they hadn't run for 88 minutes before the goal, they just couldn't make it again(like they did I don't know how many times before)

Exactly, they were super quick entire game in closing all the gaps. But in this last action they all just froze.

We were so close this game vs Spain. Rakitic should have burried that chance and send Spaniards back to Madrid. What do you guys think of a possible penalty in 80th min when Ramos pulled Corluka after corner?

Guys played really well and I am proud of them. Croatia <3

Don't think that was Ramois doing the pulling, think that was Busquets. I'd have to say that was a good shout for a pen, and should have been if the ref saw it. The other supposed "pen" from a foul by Ramos sliding in.. don't think that was a pen, strong challenge.. it's what usually gets Ramos sent off... but he did make contact with the ball.

Croatia had a couple of good chances though, Rakitic had to take that one from Modric's cross.. you really won't get many better chances against Spain due to the amount of time you spend chasing.

Igor Stimac is the new Croatia national manager. He replaces Slaven Bilic

Monsieur Platini has said he wants a Germany-Spain final ;)
After today's game, it shows.
******* mobster.

In our little facebook group of AS Roma we are arguing who has been with more influence for Italy in the 3 matches - De Rossi or Pirlo? Of course the majority of the group thinks the Roma player has been the main Italian man, but there are opinions that even Buffon plays a bigger role for the team than the 2 with his brilliant goalkeeping. What do you guys think? Imo the man with the frustrating tattoo is the key player for Italy's success until now.

All three IMO. They have created an incredibly strong spine for Italy.

Strange question, i do like all 3 of them, and neither can be really replaced. However each time i saw Italy play without Buffon they literally fell apart at the back.

Its odd because Italy always had many great goalkeepers, but its like Buffon brings this aura of calmness around penalty area that affects other players. When i watched MU play without VDS it was the same thing. Its not like Foster or Kuszczak were BAD, but if you took VDS out the defense was instantly becoming shaky.

Neuer and Casillas are two REALLY GOOD keepers. Neuer better IMO:
BUT! Buffon in his hey-days , before injuries was simply a SUPER keeper, and there is no other super keeper in the world.

I might get infracted(probably will) but....**** YOU WOLFGANG STARK !!!

2XPEN AND OFFSIDE GOAL

I'm sick of football where Denmark is denied clear pen just because it will kick Germans out of tournament or game today where ref blatantly missed everything that could eliminate Spain from EC...

So sick of this ****!..and yes I'm Croatian!

On the other note, bad thing in this tournament where some of our fans who were absolute disgrace...good thing is our football team and even though they are out Im proud of what they did.Seems like we can handle Spain but not referee.

I've been lucky enough to have had Schmeichel at my club, and for me Buffon is one of the best keepers I have ever seen. Not just his keeping, but his calmness and control over his back line. That is what separates the great from the very good. Keepers like Schmeichel, Van der Sar, Buffon, Seaman, Canizares. All had this coolness that just stopped the back line getting jumpy and nervous. Dark day for Italy when he finally hangs up his gloves.

Exactly what makes him a super keeper, I am just 18 but alongside him I haven't seen any better, but also granted that I hardly saw Schmeichel, VDS is good but not Buffon good IMO, Seaman and Canizares I don't remember so well though.

I like his control in corners especially, how he commands the near post stander where exactly to stay, puts the near poster zonal marker where he likes him to be guarded (depending on the foot of the taker) and initiates defenders to talk to each other with some funny mimics:). Canizares was my fav keeper.

I've seen here in the forum people arguing about the best keeper in the World atm and I admit even I forgot about Buffon and was involved in the comparison between Casias and Neuer, however Buffon is the keeper in this tournament until now showing the biggest class, again just imo.

Let's include a joke in this post! DDR currently the best Libero!!!

Seaman and Canizares were utterly brilliant. Seaman was the final part that made Arsenal truly feared at the back. Monster. If Hart reaches Seaman's peak, England will be very very hard to beat defensively in the long run.

There was a period when people thought he was just getting past it, and starting to decline, but he has gone back to his best.

De Rossi has been outstanding. If we beat Ukraine, I would love an England Italy QF.
