A funny thing really ;)
Denmark vs Germany - Spanish referee. Denmark was robbed, badstuber made a penalty and should have been sent off, nothing happened.

Croatia vs Germany- Wolfgang Stark, we all know what happened in this game....

So far, Platini is **** right ;) The two teams avoid each other and have the chance to only meet in the finals.

FOOKIN MOBSTERS!

Sepp Blatter: After last night match Goal line technology is no longer an alternative but a necessity...

Typical, he comes out after it benefits England, First Penalties after an English team won one, now Goal Line... Its embarrassing having him as Fifa president, So Biased!

Funny how he says that, yet if the linesmen were doing their job he wouldn't have even needed to mention it..

TBF, I wish we had goal line technology at that match, I mean, it was offside and obviously the GL-tech guys will notice this, would they have been able to overrule the referee? I doubt it.

The only **** thing that happened in the Spain-Croatia was the penalty by Busquest, Ramos hits the ball first and the goal is just as much offside as it is onside. Plus nobody talks about it but there was an action in the Croatia bow where Ramos was hit in the head but jealousy is jealousy...

Spain has only been on the spotlight for 4 years and people are already busting her off, you want to know what was a real robbery? Watch the Korean world cup where Spain was robbed of 2 legal goals by the own hosts, that was obvious and it wasn't just 1 action which a referee can pass on in any hpgiven day. If platini is really such a friend of Spain he should do his work better, and have prevented Bayern from scoring an offside goal in the first leg of the champions league.

It is understandable that after Barqa dominating the European scene for years people are getting bored of always loosing, after all I understand this the best as I'm a Real Madrid fan, but try to have a bit of perspective and a bit of respect for the current European and World Cup champions.

Busquets didn't foul Corluka in the area? navas took advantage of an offside position to score too. ;)

Oh yes, WC 2002 was a robbery, but was it just Spain? Heck no, I remember Italy being FAR more robbed too ;)

Spain are a very good team, doubtless, like Barcelona, but they should not have the kind of help they had along the years, I give them respect but I do not revere them like an idiotic fanboy, and I do not close my eyes to all the help they had, Barcelona has a huge influence in UEFA, the spanish federation's president, angel villar, the same ;)

If you, or anyone even, think that football is fair or that refereeing mistakes are solely because of "human error" ... they should perhaps grow a bit of maturity and common sense, football is a business... 'nough said.

it was offside in the first place so you can't really blame him for being caught out... Recovered badly but he would not have had to if the linesman gave the offside
Yes was offside but jt tried beeing clever and reading the pass to feet instead got done by ball over the top, if he had of stopped goal side none of that would of happened!

Going to hold my hands up right now, before we play Italy, and say that I was wrong about Gerrard playing deep for England. He's been brilliant. Disciplined, energetic, but most importantly excellent pass selection. He's mature enough now to select the right pass, and he's only missed five out of 19 long ball attempts. Moreover, 129/149 passes completed and seven key passes indicate he's not only retaining possession well but also doing something with it. An excellent job all round, and I've never been happier to admit I've been proved wrong.

With Rooney back - he had a tidy game yesterday, though he was dispossessed a lot, something that I'm sure won't happen as he gets more match time - we've got someone who can knit everything together into a proper attack. Varied options on the flanks, a cohesive central midfield duo full of energy, a fluid strikeforce that has potent and different options off the bench, and a goalkeeper that looks more impressive every day... I'm liking our chances against an Italy side that has the most Cassanata-prone frontline in the world. Moreover, they're playing a formation that is easily overloaded on the flanks, and with two full-backs that like to get forward and Milner someone who can track an opposition wing-back all day (Young is no slouch either) I think that we could have the edge tactically if Rooney can drop onto Pirlo and hassle his play.

Indeed, I was far from keen, considering he has never been able to pull it off, but very glad to have been wrong about it, otherwise we would probably be going home.

Rooney, not match fit, looked rusty, and his touch was off, but still linked well completing 76% of his 33 passes.

My concern is the the triangle is too high, there is still too much space between the Defence and midfield, wouldnt mind us sitting Gerrard, Parker, Rooney deeper. It is vital that Rooney harasses Pirlo for the game, prevent him from getting into his rhythm.

Also Danny Welbeck continues to grow and impress me, going to be an excellent player at this rate. Danny Sturridge should be watching and taking note on how good movement, intelligence, and a bit of selflessness can take you a lot further than flashy play.

Pirlo is really intelligent as well though, reads the game excellently and his movement can really deter a player, so this is why I think we really need an extra man in midfield, more like a 4-2-3-1 with Rooney the AMC who tracks Pirlo. 4-4-2 against Italy could cause us a lot of problems.

Lucky more like was caught out in first place and ball was over the line lucky jt

So Lescott didn't also get beat?

were shocking first half but decent second half. Terry did play well tonight and his clearance was great but it was his fault it occured in the first place. Lack of Pace badly exposed. Oh well got our luck and France bottled it, bring on Italia!

Lack of pace? He went to read a ball that never happened, nothing to do with lack of pace. He made the wrong judgement and knew where he should be. He and Ashley Cole are always back on the line for Chelsea and have saved us many times.

Not a gret game of football but who cares, we won. Gerrard was brilliant and it's about time he had a good tournament with England, very impressed with him so far. Welbeck put in a shift again and Parker put his body on the line numerous times.

Now with what i want to really talk about, anyone who questioned Hodgson's decision to take JT over Rio are eating their words! He has been solid the whole tournament and yesterday he was sensational. Made endless blocks, tackles, won everything in the air and his passing was top notch too. Like i always say, England fans/media keep questioning the decision vocally because the national side are reaping the benefits because it just spurs him on even more.

With the luck of the over the line goal yesterday not given there is a little resembelance to Chelsea's champions league win with the defensive attitude, hit teams on the break and good fortune. If they continue to stay tight then they can actually do this, my prediction for the Italy game is 0-0 and England to win on penalties. Yes you heard it here an England win on penalties, don't forget Chelsea won a penalty shoot-out when we are historically poor at them on our route to winning the Champs League. Also the ref for the Italy game is the same ref who reffed that Champions League final coincedence, time will tell????

I thought Welbeck had a quiet game yesterday but he wasn't getting much service. I'm still unconvinced by the Welbeck/Rooney partnership, although they play together at club level, it often looks as though they're trying to similar things which isn't always a bad thing but I'd start Carroll against Italy just because he's more of handful for there defenders and then we can HOOF it.

Rooney was too far up, it was much more a 4-4-2 yesterday, you want Rooney as an actual AMC. Think that is what he will be against Italy to stop Pirlo.

I agree with Jak, Terry's lack of pace did expose us for that goal which was not allowed, if you watch it again you will see. Terry has been very good, but with Terry comes a deeper defensive line which I personally think only suits him, if it was Lescott and Jagielka they could play a higher line. But to be honest Terry has been good and it is probably his last tournament for England anyway so hopefully it will only be an issue for the time being.

Oh dont forget that bit of quality trying to read the ball that never happened LOL thats some quality defending:S

But does it matter when he gets back and deals with it? He got beat by pace by Ibrahimovic but what happened? He chased, got goal side and won the ball off him. Defenders will make mistakes but its the great ones that automatically know what to do next to make up for that error.

Like i said, he stepped up and the lad was offside, if the linesman was doing his job then we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
