I would say one thing, some of the officiating has been very poor in parts, with some very strange decisions, and some sides not getting any decisions going their way when they should have been. Hopefully this'll get rectified and not screw up the semis and the final

The refs in the semi final cannot referee the final, Since webb is a 4th offical, I suspect he will ref the final.

Hope that's the case. Still the best ref out there in my eyes, don't care what anyone says. Yeah he's had one or two clangers i the past but they're few and far between.

@Joel
I disagree that revenue = quality and progress. This is not business, this is football. Good marketing and comerce does not mean that the league is the top one or the most quality one. And I agree that Seria A declined, but not this year. Seria A this year was one of the most interesting leagues with the highest quality and you can see this clearly resulting the national team. Juventus brough some top noche players to the squad - Buffon, Bonnuci, Pirlo, Cheillini, Barzagli, Marcisio.

Serie A has improved dramatically this year, thanks to a resurgent Juventus I agree.... However I find it ironic that a fan of Serie A is criticising good marketing, commerce etc. seeing as Serie A up until the last 10 years has always been the richest league from way back in the 1960's and dominated due to that money. In the 60's FIAT and the Angnelli family* owned Juve and the Moratti's owning Inter and won plenty of European cups with that money.

Also it was Berlusconi in the early 90's who was so desperate to commercialise football more, and was most adamant about creating a European super league and promoting the new champions league.

Italian football has as much to thank money for success in the past, just as much as the Premier League does now.

Nail hit on head. He completely forgets that, and the fact that it was the lack of control over the massive amount of money being spent, that put Serie A on the decline.

There is no question the value of the Spanish team, but if not for the referee, probably had not even past the group stage. A clear penalty in favor of Croatia.

This is a concrete fact and not any conspiracy theory.

They are the best, but if by chance they are not, no problem ...

"The most dangerous of Spain? Platini"

Every match there has been a similar things to the Croatia penalty appeal... England should have had more than one against Italy... Teams dont get penalties in the box for pushing and pulling for some reason, its not just Spain

I just hope that everything goes normal ;) I am not looking for any excuses or conspiracies, if I lose fair and square, I lose fair and square. But when I'm robbed I revolt, in the WC 2010 we lost with an offside goal and no one hardly mentions this, it's because it was Portugal, if it had been England or France, all **** would break loose ;) .

If you're getting ready for conspiracies in case you lose, sorry but that is a sign of a bad loser. There are lots of people who have known each other for a long time in UEFA, as a result many of them are friends. Stop looking for excuses and conspiracies.

It was mentioned in Portugual, much we mentioned Sol Campbells goal against you, when that was wrongly chalked off.

There is no reason to even mention it before the game. To link the selection back to somehow favouring Spain is conspiracy theory.

The only thing you can say about the ref, is his reluctance to send people off, which if anything would go in Portugal's favour.

For a game that involves the Spanish national team - and the arbitration of Roja have been so controversial that the Hungarian Viktor Kassai and German Wolfgang Stark was fired shortly thereafter - the nomination should have taken other precautions.

Cakir, which receives the UEFA Referees Committee of the strong support from fellow Senes Erzik, had a poor performance in Ireland and Italy, surprisingly was not excused.

As the UEFA Referees Committee is chaired by the President of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Angel Villar, which is the Turkish vice president Senes Erzik - Villar and as part of the UEFA Executive Committee for 20 years and Erzik for 22 ... - it may be considered at least reckless Cakir for the appointment of an important game involving the Spanish team.

You're just repeateding what has been said already, it's still just conspiracy theory. Link his selection to the favouring of Spain, is conspiracy nonsense.

You guys know the refs are selected, based on the advice and recommendations of Collina right?

Advice and reccomendations do not mean the final thing. And Angel Villar has great power in UEFA.
And if it was him that reccomened Mr Wolfgang Stark to Spain vs Croatia I am hardly reassured...

UNICEF! Not related to Barcelona and spanish federation at all :3

If you say it doesnt mean a thing, then you really dont know how it the referee committee works.

Like I said, you are sounding like a bad conspiracy loser.

Your theory is that Villar has a good friend, the vice president Erzik, who is a marketing director for UNICEF, therefore he must love Barcelona, and therefore fancy Spain, so he has gone for a Turkish ref, who for some reason, will arbitrarily fancy Spain. That is the definition of conspiracy nonsense. There is no logical argument there.

It isnt related to Spain. Nothing about that is wrong or implies conspiracy.

Seriously you're starting to sound so ridiculous, that I actually want to Spain to win on a dodgy goal. I was actually backing Portugal up until this point.

He ain't related to Insanity is he-there's a pattern starting to form on this thread lol

Portugal - Spain has a rivalry similar to a Brazil - Argentina, it is natural that there is any insanity ...:D

It's the worst theory ive heard in some time, because it doesnt actually work. After all the convoluted links, it requires that the ref would some how want to fancy Spain.

As ridiculous as the comments of Webb being Man Utd's 12th man. sigh
