Remainder of December
View attachment 18208Telstar - I started my second job as a manager with a defeat, a disappointing 1-0 loss. I started with a 4-2-3-1 formation but changed to 4-1-4-1 where we massively improved however failed to get anything out of the game.
De Treffers - My first win as manager of Go Ahead Eagles comes courtesy of a 2-1 win over bottom of the league. A brace from 32 year old central midfielder Overgoor seals the win.

Some contract news, I have extended two players contracts. Full back Fankaty Dabo and winger Michael Maria have signed on for another season both taking a small wage cut.
View attachment 17978We have agreed a deal to have Feyenoord as our senior affiliates. They can send us players, cover their wages and will give us £46,750, we have no obligation to even play these players so I think it is a great deal!

View attachment 17977Oliver Bias - A winger who can play either side joins from RB Leipzig. He has fantastic dribbling, first touch, vision, technique, passing and is very quick! He comes in for the remainder of the season and at 5ft 5, he reminds me of a poor mans Messi.

He has some very impressive physicals alongside good determination, finishing, dribbling, first touch and composure. My only worry is that he dwells on the ball. No need to worry, look out for when Minacori signed during the month in the results!
View attachment 17975FC Volendam - We played them in a friendly initially to get the players back up to match fitness after the winter break. We won that game but managed to lose 2-1 away from home in the league a week later! We absolutely battered them though.
Roda JC - Minacori made his debut and took 29 minutes to bag himself a hat trick! We annihilated them and Simon Hvilsom scored a brace to make it 3 goals in 2 games for him.
FC Eindhoven - A comfortable win where we dominated possession and chances. Minacori again scoring.
Top Oss - Another clean sheet, another win and another two goals for Minacori! We were brilliant and secured the win through goals from Lorenz, Minacori 2 and Hvilsom.

Jong PSV - A very tight game with both teams cancelling each other out. It took a sublime free kick for them to win the game.
Fortuna Sittard - A game we dominated but failed to take our chances as we drop 2 points at home to play off hopefuls.
Helmond - Back to back 0-0 draws. Identical to the previous game where we dominated but failed to take any of our chances.

Some bad news to start the month...
View attachment 17888Right back Christopher Braun is ruled out for the remainder of the season with a hip injury. Thankfully we have strength in depth when it comes to full backs therefore he wont be the biggest miss.

FC Den Bosch - Finally Minacori is back in the goals with a fine poachers finish. We doubled our lead through Paco Van Moorsel. They scored late on to make it squeaky *** time however we held out for back to back wins.

April & Start of May
April is officially the month of injuries...
View attachment 17655Oliver Bias will miss the most of April after pulling his calf muscle, we are now a little short in this area with Maria also out on international duty.
View attachment 17654Central midfielder Mounir El Allouchi is out for the remainder of the season and the first half of next season after damaging his achillies tendon. He is on a healthy wage of £1,300 which is slightly frustrating.
View attachment 17653The final injury was Simon Hvilsom who got injured during the first game of the month. He will miss the remainder of April and start of May, he is a big loss after really impressing in recent months.
View attachment 17652Jong Utrecht - Simon Hvilsom scored before going off injured. They then scored two and we really took the game to them to try and get back into the game. It took a Fomitschow penalty in the 92nd minute to rescue a point.
N.E.C - Another game where we were the better side, failed to take our chances and had to wait until a late equaliser to get us the point, this time it was from Pacp Van Moorsel.
FC Emmen - As we have little wingers available, Richard van der Venne has came in and done decent so far, he got his name on the scoresheet with a tap in. Overgoor then scored a beauty to make it 2-0. With 10 minutes left we decided to gift them a goal before they sucker punched us in the 92nd minute.
MVV - A game we completely bossed but yet again failed to score in as we settle for a stalemate.

Play Offs
View attachment 17638We slightly shaded the first leg of the play offs however created little clear cut chances. I was deeply disappointed especially as we had home advantage.

The best chance fell to Oliver Bias although unfortunately it was a header for the little man that was well saved. Long term injured Christopher Braun claimed the highest average rating and assists! Laros Duarte got an impressive 90% pass completion rate from defensive midfield. Frankaty Dabo got the most player of the match awards with 6 and has attracted interest from Sunderland. Overgoor got the most yellow cards with 5, a relatively low card count.

We have signed Benedikt Kirsch upon his contract expiring. He is relatively small but has fantastic mental attributes with 16 work rate, 15 determination, 14 teamwork and 15 bravery. He also has decent technical attributes and will look to use him as a box to box midfielder next year.

TheNotSoSpecialOne - Yeah its harder to not get into the play offs than it is to get into them especially as reserve teams cannot get promoted. I don't understand how FC Eindhoven got into the play offs though! 12th placed MVV got promoted through the play offs last season!
Transfers and Pre-Season
Firstly we have agreed to extend the loan signings of Calogero Minacori and Oliver Bias for another season. I tried to get Simon Hvilsom for another season but his side OB wanted to give him a first team opportunity.

Overgoor signed an amaeteur contract so he stays with us and we aren't paying him any money so that's another £1,200 saved a week. Jan-Marc Schneider, Paco Van Moorsel and Jeff Steins didn't sign a new contract but weren't released so they remain at the club but are out of contract and clubs are free to try and poach them from us.

My director of football signed Diyar Acik and Wilm Van Schijndel, both are ok but will struggle to break into the first team. I have now changed his responsibilities so I sign off the signings so I can have a look at them before confirming the signings. Both are on amateur contracts so we wont be paying them any money thankfully.

The Moroccan U20 international has good passing, tackling, decision making, stamina and work rate so should be a good back up player.

He is a good tackler but most notably he has outstanding physical, mental attributes alongside decent passing and vision for a ball playing defender.

His lowest rating is at 7 but for a left back he wont really need finishing although for a left back, that's still a decent rating. He is very quick, strong, technically good and mentally strong, he is a fine acquisition.

We followed this up with another win and clean sheet, this time Bias grabbing a goal against Telstar. We ended pre season with a disappointing draw at home to De Treffers.

They then ripped us apart with 20 minutes of constant pressure before we had a late flurry of chances, which we could only convert one of through a debut goal off the bench for Dembele.
Almere City - We are up and running for the season thanks to a first goal from the spot for Kenny Rocha Santos. Our lead was later doubled due to a Minacori strike.
Roda JC - A fantastic performance and win! Minacori opened the scoring before Maria doubled our lead. They then got a goal back before Santos made it 2 in 2 before Herve Matthys scored his first goal for the club to seal the win.
FC Eindhoven - A very comfortable win. Benedikt Kirsch opened his account for the club before Matthys doubled his tally for the season in back to back games. We sealed the third before half time with another goal from Santos.

We then had a goal correctly ruled off for offside however Minacori reacted first from a Dembele header off the bar as we changed to a 4-4-2 formation with 20 minutes to go. FC Emmen - Another game where we dominated and should have won but weren't ruthless enough in front of goal, they hit us on a quick direct counter to seal the win and the 3 points.
Vitesse - My first cup game as manager of Go Ahead Eagles and it ends in defeat against stronger opposition. We gave as good as we got and looked destined for a draw until they scored late on from a corner!
Telstar - Back to winning ways thanks to a brace from Laros Duarte. Andy Pelmard scored his first goal for the club inbetween his brace. We were 3-0 up at half time and tried our best to throw the 3 points away however thankfully we saw it out for our first win of the month.
De Treffers - Back amongst the clean sheets with back to back wins thanks to an early goal from winger Michael Maria.

If only every month was like this one! We finish the month in 2nd, 2 points off of Ajax Reserves. My main aim is to finish above all the teams that aren't reserves and gain automatic promotion via this way, which as it stands, we would be doing if the season ended now.

He was merely backup to Minacori and Dembele as a striker but he could also come in as an inside forward so we have lost some strength in depth with his departure. I did scout him and tried to resign him however he doesn't want to talk to the club anymore and my scouts don't rate him anyway.

FC Den Bosch - A game we dominated however we failed to score, which is becoming rare of late!
SC Cambuur - We went into this game without Duarte and Santos who were both representing their countries. Lorenz and Stans came in to replace them. Frankaty Dabo scored his first goal of the season with a neat finish during the first half. We then kept pushing for a second which we finally got through Papis Dembele who reacted to a spillage from their goalkeeper to tap home.
Ajax Reserves - We were level on points with our opposition going into this game so was a real 6 pointer! Minacori got us on our way capping off a lovely team move. Frankaty Dabo then doubled his tally for the season in back to back games with a clinical finish as we win the clash of the top 2.
PSV Reserves - A fairly edgy game with neither side mustering up many clear cut chances. We manage to grab the win though thanks to a Kenny Rocha Santos goal after a free kick got deflected to him before he smashed it home from 8 yards.
AZ Reserves - We went into this game without Duarte and Dabo due to small training injuries. It was Dabo's replacement, Christopher Braun, that set up the opener, a header from Michael Maria. Kenny Rocha Santos then doubled our lead with a lovely curling shot from the edge of the area. They then made it squeaky *** time with 30 minutes remaining however our fantastic defence held out for the win!

We have some more contract extensions. Simon Lorenz and Benedikt Kirsch have both agreed to stay on for another season taking a few hundred pounds wage drop as well!

Roda JC - Another game where we dominated but failed to win. Roda JC did defend well and most of our chances were from long range before they sucker punched us, hitting us on the break to win the game.
KRC Gent - During an international break, I gave the players 2 weeks off before we had a friendly to get some match sharpness back and hopefully morale and form are back on the up!

De Graafschap - What a win! We actually didn't play very well in this game however managed to bag 4 goals through Bias and a Minacori hat trick!
De Treffers - We absolutely smashed them and looked like we were going to cruise to a comfortable 1-0 after Minacori scored however they scored a 93rd minute equaliser when there was only 2 minutes added on!
TOP Oss - Another game we dominated. Their goalkeeper scored a fortuitous own goal before they scored from a set piece. Then in the 91st minute Michael Maria scored an absolute screamer from 25 yards out which flew into the top corner to secure a late dramatic winner!

Fortuna Sittard - A game to forget however we were up against it as soon as Andy Pelmard got a straight red after being last man in the 12th minute. They then scored in stoppage time of the first half. With 15 minutes left, I gambled and went 4-3-2 and it backfired as they then dominated in the middle and hit 2 late goals.
