A better year than the past couple, managing a couple of wins against Ireland and Bulgaria. Ultimately, there was still too many draws and that had a negative effect on the qualifying game. No sign of pressure on the manager though...

Euro 2020 Qualifying Group:

4th in the group so they missed out on the playoff's. They were 4th seeds so they did as expected, but I feel there is enough quality now to be challenging for the top 3.

FC Inter Turku
Season Preview - 2020

View attachment 372263

Transfers:

View attachment 372262

We had to sell our best Finnish prospect in the January window, which was a real shame. However, we did get a good deal for him as Arsenal paid us ?5,000,000 + 50% of his next transfer fee, whilst we also get him back for the season on loan to hopefully progress his development as well as possible before he moves to London. On the incomings, we made Tomi Heikkinen's loan from Leverkusen permanent for 500k, and brought in 20 year old Senegalese midfielder Ousmane Toure for ?2,000,000 to slot into our midfield.

View attachment 372260View attachment 372259

We've also agreed to sell Honduran striker Gody for ?2,300,000 + 50% of his next fee, a great piece of business after he's hardly played since coming in a few months back as 3rd choice striker and he's barely played.

Finnish League Cup:

View attachment 372258

We retained our League Cup and won it for a 4th time in my reign, beating last season's Premier League runners up IFK in the final 3-0.

Squad:

View attachment 372257View attachment 372256

We've got a solid squad for the season, we should win the league with ease but I want us to still be in Europe come the new year so that will mean at least finishing 3rd in our Champions League group, assuming that we qualify.

Other News:

1) We are upgrading our youth and training facilities again, I feel good facilities are the key to running the small clubs in Europe as you need to develop your players quickly and efficiently.

View attachment 372255
Next update will be a review of the opening couple of months of the season...

Love this story so much. Keep it up. Read a similar one last year, and I think whilst your are getting great deals for your players soon it FM will do its magical thing where players values shoot up to a more accurate representation overnight, and thus you can make even more. Seeing (any) Ameobi valued that low is a farce.

Cheers mate, just a case of getting the club reputation up I think. I get awful bids constantly for most of the squad to be honest, 100-200k bids for Ameobi and 400-500k for the USA international centre back but luckily we've done well in Europe the last 3 years so money isn't really an issue.

35 goals scored in 10 games, a brilliant start to the season and good from to take into the Champions League qualifiers.

Other News:

1)
We agree a deal to sign a Bulgarian goalkeeper from St Mirren for ?2,600,000. My scouts rate him at a similar level to our current keeper Foderingham but he has the potential to be quite a bit better. He'll join on August 1st of this year.

Next up will be a June and July review, can we keep banging the goals in an stay unbeaten in the league?

FC Inter Turku
June and July 2020

View attachment 371953

Fixtures:

View attachment 371952

A bit more difficult in these 2 months, drawing 2 more games and losing to a last minute penalty in an awful game against FC Lahti. Disappointing to lose and not get an unbeaten season but it doesn't really matter.

Transfer News:

View attachment 371951

One right winger in and one right winger out over these 2 months. Firstly we brought in a Brazilian winger on a free transfer, he's very quick once he gets going and is strong technically as well. After that, I decided to move on club legend Milan Lalkovic and we managed to pick up ?4,300,000 for him. He's done a great job for the club but with Cesar and Paul Robertson for competition on the right I thought I'd move Lalkovic on as he's the oldest and the other two have potential to improve.

View attachment 371950View attachment 371949

Player Stats:

View attachment 371948

The two wingers are at the top of the average ratings, striking fear in all the Finnish team's defences.

League Table:

View attachment 371947

Bit of a resurgence from HJK as they lead the battle for the runners up. Don't see any team challenging us for the title any time soon in all honesty.

Other News:

1)
Finnish PL moves up 3 places in competition rankings.

View attachment 371946

2)
We moved so close to an extra CL place for the league but missed out by one place. Hopefully another CL appearance from us next year will push us up.

View attachment 371945

3)
We're up to 48th in the club coefficient rankings.

View attachment 371944

4) Update to facilities are complete, we now have superb training facilities and average youth facilities. Now movement on our desire for a new stadium though.

View attachment 371943

5)
Finances are looking very nice after making a profit of just over ?8,000,000 in 2020 so far, and that's without any money we could earn from qualifying for the Champions League.

View attachment 371942

Next update will be a Champions League qualifying update. If there is anything people want to see, then just ask and I'll chuck up a SS.

Champions League Qualifying - 2020

View attachment 371753

2nd Round - FC Inter Turku 9 - 1 FC Skonto Riga

View attachment 371751View attachment 371750

An easy victory over the Latvian champions. Honestly though, the fact they are right at the start of their pre-season and considering we were 5-0 up after 30 minutes in the first leg, I feel we should have out a few more past them!

3rd Round -
FC Inter Turku 11 - 0 Sheriff Tirapsol

View attachment 371749View attachment 371748

A 7-0 home victory, followed by a 4-0 away victory gave us a comfortable 11-0 aggregate victory over the Moldovan champs and secured European football for the season. A tie against Slovakian champions would decide whether that would be the Champions League or Europa League.

Playoff Round -
FC Inter Turku 4 - 0 Slovan Bratislava

View attachment 371745View attachment 371744

The Champions League group stages await for a 4th season running, after a 4-0 victory over Slovan Bratislava away from home was followed by a bore 0-0 draw at home. However, we have been put in the hardest group of the 4 seasons quite comfortably...

Group H:

View attachment 371743

Barcelona, Monaco and Manchester United join us in group H, some would argue that we would be lucky to leave this group with a point! However, we have had some luck against the big sides in previous years so hopefully we can pull off a couple of shocks.

Next update will be a recap of the last few months of the domestic season, can we retain the Finnish League and Cup?

FC Inter Turku
August, September and October 2020

View attachment 371696

Fixtures:

View attachment 371695

We were in rampant form for the last 3 months of the season, drawing just one league game and winning the rest, often playing a backup team as fixtures were placed in between European ties.

Finnish Cup:

View attachment 371693

Domestic treble complete as a backup team defeated FC Haka in the final, with 18 year old Finnish left back Issakson putting in a man of the match performance.

Player Stats:

View attachment 371691

Youth Intake:

View attachment 371690

A decent intake but disappointed the two best players are strikers as we already have plenty of decent Finnish strikers in the game. I suppose a lot of them will end up filling in on the wing when I eventually get the national team job as there are very few wingers with Finnish nationality. Here's the 4 star potential striker...

View attachment 371689

League Table:

View attachment 371688

2 points ahead on last season, but still 3 points behind our record points total of 91.

Other News:

1)
Shaquile Coutlhirst has finally gained Finnish nationality after spending 6 years in the country, and around another 3 or 4 months waiting for his paperwork to come through. He's announced in the Finnish squad for the November internationals, meaning we have 8 players in the latest Finnish squad.

View attachment 371686

2) Yet more improvements are scheduled to our youth and training facilities, this time costing us a combined ?7,500,000!

FC Inter Turku
Champions League Group Stages - 2020

View attachment 371677

Fixtures:

View attachment 371676

Don't feel the need to go over each game by game, as we never really stood a chance in this group to be honest and 2 points from the 6 games reflects this. The 3-1 defeat at home to Monaco really frustrated me as we completely dominated that game, with 70% possession, 22 shots, 10 on target compared to their 30% possession and 4 shots on target. We did manage a couple of hard fought draws though, one away to Monaco and one at home to Manchester United.

Group Table:

View attachment 371675

If we had beaten Monaco at home like we should have then we'd have snook into 3rd place, however we didn't and so we won't be in Europe come the new year!

Transfers:

Nothing really to discuss on the incomings as we just bring in one player, a young American goalkeeper with potential that we've placed in the b team. On the outgoings, we had to let two more young Finnish players leave as they were both refusing to sign new contracts. One was left back Niklas Issakson, who only has a little bit of development left in him and he should get that at Celtic, after a ?4,200,000 + 50% of his next transfer fee deal took him to Celtic Park. Also, the youth intake striker from last year went to Napoli for ?4,000,000 and 50% of his next transfer fee as his initial contract I gave him ran out in November and he did not want to sign a new contract with us.

A couple of draws but no defeats means that we continue our unbeaten league run to 30 odd games. We're still scoring plenty of goals and that should put us in a good position ahead of the Champions League qualifiers.

Player Stats:

View attachment 370572

9 goals in 16 games from South African centre back Mofokeng is a great record for a defender, even if 3 of those were penalties. Viljanen is averaging above a goal a game up front and is now first choice striker ahead of Coulthirst.

League Table:

View attachment 370571

Unbeaten in 20 league games so far and we're averaging above 3 goals a game!

Other News:

1)
Conor Coady got his first Finland call up and the latest Finland squad contained 9 Inter Turku players + 2 players who came through our youth academy and have now left the club.

View attachment 370568

2)
The Finnish League rose 5 places to 19th in the competition rankings and jumped one place in the coefficient rankings up to 15th, meaning the league now has a 2nd Champions League place. We also jumped up a few places in the club coefficient rankings as well.

View attachment 370567View attachment 370566View attachment 370565

3)
Taye Ameobi and Paul Robertson both took part in the Confederations Cup for their respective nations, but both Nigeria and New Zealand exited in the group stages. However, there was more luck for American centre back Drew Sterling, who helped the USA to a Gold Cup victory, earning his 72nd cap at just 23 years old.

Playoff Round -
FC Inter Turku 3 - 0 Slovan Bratislava

View attachment 370491View attachment 370490

For a second year running we have met the Slovakian champions in the playoff round. The first leg in Slovakia was a much tighter affair this time around, with us just scraping a 1-0 victory. We then followed it up with a 2-0 victory in Turku to send us through to the Champions League Group stages for a 5th year running.

Group B:

View attachment 370489

A nicer group than last year but we still are the 4th seeds and therefore we are the underdogs. Celtic have reached the knockout stages 3 years running, and more specifically have reached the semi final in the last 2 seasons. PSV have a stronger squad than us but we can definitely compete with them and hopefully we can pick up a shock result at home to Juventus.

Other News:

1)
Wesley Foderingham is the latest player to take up Finnish nationality, and will be hoping to make the next Finland squad in October.

Just complete domination domestically! Another Finnish Cup win in the bag and we win every league game that we played in over the 3 months.

Player Stats:

View attachment 369984

Every single player in the squad averaged above a 7 rating, whilst Viljanen took the Premier League top goalscorer award and Arza set a record for the highest average rating in the Premier League! You won;t recognise the name at the top of the SS, but that brings me onto...

Youth Intake:

View attachment 369983

Forgot to SS the actual intake but this is the main player we got from it. His base stats aren't amazing but he has fantastic potential and already has 2 hatricks in the 3 league games he has started! He'll probably spend one year in the youth team next year and then be brought into the first team squad the season after, however I may just chuck him in next year! Only downside is it seems we only ever get great strikers in our intakes, we could do with a Finnish goalkeeper or winger!

League Table:

FC Inter Tukru
Champions League Group Stages - 2021

View attachment 369937

FC Inter Turku 2
- 1 Juventus

View attachment 369936

Our group stage campaign got off to a fantastic start as we came back from 1-0 down to beat Italian giants Juventus 2-1 at the Veritas Stadion. Lukaku put them ahead early on but South African centre back Mofokeng drew us level on the brink of half time before Kiwi winger Robertson smashed in a winner 5 minutes from time to give us all 3 points and a famous victory.

PSV 1 - 0 FC Inter Turku

View attachment 369935

Unfortunately we couldn't capitalize on the momentum from the opening game as we fell to a defeat against PSV in Holland. It was a pretty even game but took one of their chances whilst we didn't take ours.

Celtic 0 - 0 FC Inter Turku

View attachment 369932

A decent away point against Celtic in our third game. It was another pretty even game with not many chances and it leaves us with 4 points from 3 games.

FC Inter Turku 3 - 0 Celtic

View attachment 369929

2 wins from 2 home games in the group stages now as we picked apart Celtic at the Veritas Stadion and ran away 3-0 winners. 2 of the 3 goals were scored by Finnish players and I'm hoping that in another year in game the other one will be Finnish also.

Juventus 2 - 0 FC Inter Turku

View attachment 369928

A defeat as expected in Turin as Juventus' extra class combined with home advantage was too much for us to overturn! If we get a draw in the final game we will finish at least 3rd and if we win we'll qualify from the group.

FC Inter Turku 8 - 4 PSV

View attachment 369927

Wow, a crazy game to end the group stages sees us finish 2nd in the group and qualify for the Champions League Knockout Rounds for only the second time in our history. Hatricks from both Coulthirst and Robertson, and a brace from Sterling saw us run out 8-4 winners, whilst there was also a hatrick from one of the PSV players meaning there was 3 in one game, think it's the first time I've ever seen that!

Final Group Table:

We finish 2nd behind Juve on h2h despite having a better goal difference to them! This leaves us facing a 2nd Knockout Round tie against Dortmund.

Finland
2021

View attachment 369777

Fixtures:

View attachment 369776

An amazing year for the national team, picking up wins against Spain, Japan and Uruguay whilst only losing one game all year, albeit a poor defeat away to Albania. From their last 5 qualifying games they managed to take 10 points, but would that be enough to finish 2nd and take a playoff place?

World Cup Qualifying Group:

View attachment 369774

They eventually missed out on the playoff place by one goal on GD to Scandanavian rivals Norway, who went on to lose their playoff against Portugal, but it was still a massive improvement on recent qualifying campaigns and leaves plenty of room for hope that they can qualify for Euro 2024.
