Newcastle came from losing positions twice to overcome Mark Hughes' Q.P.R side at the Sports Direct Arena tonight.

The visitors took a surprise lead when Armand Traore capatalized on a Tim Krul error to convert from close range, before the home side drew level through Demba Ba three minutes before half time.

QPR hit back almost instantly however when Jay Bothroyd put the R's back in front going into the break.

Ten minutes after the restart Anton Ferdinand converted into his own net to bring scores back level before Gabriel Obertan fired home four minutes later to put the home side in control.

West Brom 1-3 Newcastle

cq5dam.thumbnail.490.338.margin.png

Demba Ba scored twice to give Newcastle a convincing victory over West Brom at the Hawthorns this afternoon.

Newcastle manager Ashley Thornton-Jones opted to leave Pappis Cisse on the bench for the first time this season in a league game, and his decision was rewarded with two goals from Senegalese team mate Ba, who replaced Cisse in the lone striker role.

It was centre-back Steven Taylor who opened the scoring, sweeping home Yohan Cabaye's corner at the front post before Ba doubled Newcastle's lead with 20 minutes to go.

Marc-Antoine Fortune converted Chris Brunt's corner with just minutes to go before Ba difused any doubt over a comeback with his second goal in injury time.
