Since the Academy Awards are coming up, I wanted to watch all the nominees for best picture. They were...

Black Swan - 9/10 - Fab movie with scintillating ending

The Fighter - 8/10 - Good all round film

Inception - 10/10 - 'Nuff said really

The Kids Are All Alright - 8/10 - The smallest things differentiate this movie, and I quite enjoyed it

The Kings Speech - 9/10 - Such a simple movie but it worked so well, Geoffery Rush and Colin Firth were brill, and quite funny

127 Hours - N/A - Not seen it... don't think I have the stomach to either

The Social Network - 8/10 - Enjoyable movie. Bit typical with the whole big success betrayal thing but nonetheless a good watch

Toy Story 3 - N/A - Yet to see it

True Grit - N/A - Just about to watch it now :)

Winters Bone - N/A - Only very briefly heard of this movie, will probably go and get it later

Also watched Mean Girls 2 yesterday, lol. It's exactly what you'd expect. You know what your getting into. 5/10 because the ladies are nice.

Grown Ups I watched yesterday aswell. Thought it was brilliant! Storyline was very typical for the style of film, but it was much, much funnier, and Salma Hayek is win  8/10

Street Kings - 9/10.
Splinter (2006) - 9/10.
Blood in Blood out - 7/10.
Boys 'n the hood - 8/10.
One eight seven - 10/10.
Menace to Society - 10/10.

Watched a bunch of films recently...

Inception 10/10 Everyone should know how good this film is so I wont go into it.

Ip man 2 8/10 Good martial arts film, started off a little slow but some of the fight scenes were brilliant

District 9 9/10 Another one which starts a little slow with its whole documentary thing but once it gets going it is fantastic

The Mechanic 6/10 Average action film, few pointless characters, some of the action scenes were zoomed in too much so you couldn't work out what was going on. Didnt expect much really.

I also bought Moon, which I shall watch tomorrow most likely

Elite Squad 2 - Brazilian made film, not much to say but go see it.

9/10

Buried 2010
Staring – Ryan Reynolds

Had low expectations of this film from seeing the trailers. My first thoughts when I seen a trailer was why does his Cell phone work when he is in a coffin buried underground.
Anyway I rented this film from Blockbuster and gave it a watch.

The jist of the story is a an American truck driver is working in Iraq, and he is captured and buried alive to be left to die, unless he can raise money to his captors.
This explains why he has a phone.

Ryan Reynolds give a good performance, but the still his character is a complete ****, so its hard to empathise with him. He also ridicules stupid, making the film ever more frustrating to watch.

A couple things that are annoying apart from the fact its very unlikely he would get a signal is the constant use of his lighter, using more and more limited oxygen. He consistent shouting and screaming on the phone, at that rate his oxygen should have ran out in 10 minutes.

The film is awful, its almost like a true story as those sort of situations happen in Iraq, however this is actually fiction and they could have been more creative.
Instead the film took the realism route which didn’t even work well as the way it panned out was far from realistic
So the film didn’t pull anything well, and it’s a waste of time.

There was parts of the film I was thinking it would be more entertaining to be Buried Alive.
The film gets a rating of 4/10, only that High because Ryan Reynolds gives a great performance with the awful script he was given.

4/10

Watched Black Swan with the missus and.......it wasn't bad, but not the sort of film i'd watch again. 6/10

Heard about that! Refuse to watch it. :D

Slightly off-topic, but there's only one film that made me cry like a baby, and that was Watership Down. Once the Bright Eyes song started that was it. Like a dam had burst lol

Dances with wolves- 9/10

Great film but i dont really like films over 3 hours bar lord of the rings.

A Serbian Film? Whats that about? Never heard of it

Just watched Just Go With It.

Actually really funny and a very good Laugh, albeit not as good as The Hangover, good nonetheless.

8.5/10

O and 127 hours not long ago too, very good, brilliant acting, enjoyed it a lot.
