I feel I need to say a couple of things about my last night's match vs rjp666.
Up until yesterday I mainly accepted that two people are FM legends in the purest sense of the word: Cleon and Guido (of Strikerless blog). I have links to their work in the UNCLE MAD's thread. Well, after last night I will (a bit begrudgingly ) accept a 3rd potential legend: rjp666.
Yes his squad has the best FM player in almost all positions (except maybe GK - where he "only" has Szcescny who's no slouch), which gives him an advantage but ... and its a big but ... his tactics were in one word: awesome. First time in my long FM career have I come across tactics that:
1. Do not do what one would think when looking at the formation.
2. Do not get overrun in the midfield despite being a 424 (and a pretty attacking one at that).
3. Have such defensive solidity.
4. Were impervious to my tactics and/or to whatever I tried to do/change.
No matter what I did I barely managed to make a couple of attacks per half and almost never troubled him. That was a first for me. 4-0 was perhaps a bit hard (3-0 would have been more representative) but the truth is I got slaughtered and I cannot see how anybody can beat him. I wish that somebody manages to, so that I may have the chance to get near him but, as I told him last nite myself I dont see how that will happen.
Before we started the match I told him that after our match we would know who would win the FM Base League. He tried to tell me that there are a lot of matches to be played and many things could happen but I was adamant. Having lost 4-0 I was certain that I was right in my initial prediction (only thing was that I thought I would be the winner of our match :'().
So: rjp666=legend!
