Football Manager 27: release date & first details

We finally have a date: Football Manager 27 launches on 10 November 2026.

It will be available on PC/Mac via Steam, Epic and the Xbox PC app, plus FM27 Console on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, and FM27 Mobile through Netflix. Game Pass is confirmed from day one. Digital versions and physical PC launch on 10 November; the physical PS5 edition follows on 20 November.

SEGA lists the UK retail price at £49.99. A Launch Preview will also arrive 1–2 weeks before release for eligible PC/Mac pre-purchases. Exact timing and pre-order discounts are still TBC.

SI has also confirmed there will be no FM27 release on the original Nintendo Switch or Xbox One family.

Official announcement

A cleaner UI — and fewer clicks

The first FM27 deep dive focuses on fixing one of FM26's biggest pain points: navigation.

Tiles are now mainly for information, while navigation is handled through clearer top menus: Portal, Squad, Tactics, Recruitment, Training and Club. More screens open full-size, messages can contain things like scout reports directly, and multiple offers for one player are grouped together.

There are also scaling options for different monitors, rearrangeable bookmarks, remappable keyboard shortcuts, custom landing pages and swappable tiles.

The football world is getting some life back

The second deep dive is all about immersion — including several things players missed in FM26.

Cup Draws and Transfer Deadline Day return, while News, Club, Competition and Nation screens have been reworked. Career History is full-screen again, Heat Maps are returning and a new Competitions Hub makes it easier to follow the leagues in your save.

Transfers are getting changes too: young players care more about game time, sell-on clauses are surfaced in scout reports, and AI recruitment should place more value on experience and leadership.

You can also choose how often the game interrupts you through new Streamlined, Balanced, Comprehensive and Custom Continue Flow settings.

Matchday is getting a visual overhaul

FM27's latest reveal focuses on atmosphere rather than the Match Engine itself.

Crowds have new models, clothing, flags, reactions and more varied audio. Stadiums have greater visual variety, while a new dynamic time-of-day system changes lighting and shadows during the match.

Weather now affects the pitch more visibly — including wet surfaces and accumulating snow — and pre/post-match cutscenes use many more camera combinations. Player models have also been rebuilt with more varied body types and even hair physics.

A few extra confirmations from SI's AMA

After the first deep dive, the Football Manager Community Team answered questions on Reddit and clarified a few details that weren't obvious from the video.

Returning/confirmed: the Competitions Hub, the attribute polygon, transfer add-ons in transfer history, editable keyboard shortcuts and the Reload Skin button. SI says modding/skinning should have no notable change in capability compared with FM26.

Not currently set to return in FM27: the end-of-season review and player data export. SI also confirmed the classic left-hand sidebar isn't returning — the top navigation remains.

Important: questions SI didn't answer are not automatically cancelled features. The AMA specifically focused on UI/navigation.

AMA summary

What's still to come?

The big one is next. SI is calling the upcoming feature drop Greater Tactical Expression: a deeper look under the hood of the Match Engine, including player movement, animations, and gameplay behavior.

We're also still waiting for:
  • the exact Launch Preview date and pre-order/discount details
  • the full FM27 licensing list
  • confirmation of any additional platforms
  • clarity on modes such as Create-a-Club, Challenge Mode, Fantasy Draft and Versus

One update since the earlier announcements: the official Football Manager Discord is now live.

All footage shown so far is from development builds, so visuals, data, and licensing may still change before launch.

We'll keep this thread updated as the remaining deep dives land. What do you want to see most from the Match Engine reveal?

FM27: the Match Engine deep dive is here

A few days after SI addressed criticism of the frame rate shown in the Match Day video, the promised follow-up is now live — and it goes much deeper than visuals.

FM27's Match Engine is getting new player movement and behavior, built with expanded Hawk-Eye data and motion capture. Running speed and acceleration have been reworked, defenders now jockey more realistically, and attributes such as Flair, Dribbling, Marking, Anticipation, and Stamina should have a more visible impact on the pitch.

New skill moves include body feints, Elasticos and Heel Chops, while attacking movement should produce more varied runs, cutbacks and crosses.

Official deep dive

Tactical Tweaks: more control from the touchline

The biggest new match-day feature is Tactical Tweaks: quick tactical changes you can make without opening the full Tactics screen.

You can tell your team to play with more urgency, go longer, exploit the width, reduce the press, and more. Individual tweaks include swapping your wingers or even sending the goalkeeper forward for a last-gasp attack. Tweaks stay active until you remove them, and multiple compatible tweaks can run together.

Shouts are staying, but have been rebuilt. They now affect players' mental state more directly, include clearer explanations, and give better feedback on how the squad reacted.

Smarter movement, new attacking instructions & more data

FM27 also adds new instructions for how players attack the box: they can arrive late or attack the defensive line, then target the near post, far post, or central areas.

Stamina now has a bigger effect on repeated sprints and late-match condition, while smarter attacking players should time and angle runs more effectively. Defending has also been reworked, particularly 1v1 situations and recovery movement.

During matches, the UI brings back more useful data, including Heat Maps and Action Zones, while Pass Maps return in the Data Hub after matches.

SI says the footage is still from a development build and that further visual optimization is ongoing.

A couple of release-date footnotes

SEGA Japan lists FM27 for 11 November locally at ¥7,990. That's consistent with the 10 November global launch once time zones are taken into account.

One SEGA Japan English product box also lists Nintendo Switch, but SI's own FM27 FAQ explicitly says FM27 will not release on Nintendo Switch or the Xbox One family, so there's no reason to treat that listing as a new platform announcement.

There's also a small Launch Preview discrepancy: SEGA's Asia page says one week before release, while the main FM site still says 1–2 weeks. No exact date has been officially announced yet.

The next deep dive is confirmed to cover Training and the new Tactical Effectiveness system.
