or they could just reschdule it to the end of teh season so anyone whose already bought tickets won't need to be refunded and they won't have to fly to see it and the situation should be sorted by then.
The problem would be finding a slot for the GP

If they did this it would make sense to have either side of Abu Dhabi GP as there is two week from India to Abu Djabi and 2 weeks after to Brazil... But either way this would make 3 race in 3 weeks which is tough on the teams and unlikely to happen.

Brazil is the final Gp and its held at the end of November - the final race is usually end of October or first week of November so this season already has a later finish than usual, this means there's almost no chance of it being held beyond the Brazil race.

Only other time there is a big gap is the August break - this involves a 2 week factory shut down and is when drivers/team members have a holiday so the race wouldn't be moved to that time of year. I think if it get cancelled then we wont see a Bahrain GP this year and refunds or tickets for next years race will be offered as compensation

Bahrain Talks to be held Today

Just a snippet:

"There are free weekends either side of the penultimate race in Abu Dhabi on 13 November when a rescheduled Bahrain contest could be incorporated although that would lead to racing being staged over three consecutive weekends at the end of an eight-month season that at 20 races is the longest in F1 history. "

A point previously spotted by yours truly

Bahrain has been canceled.

Not surprised at the moment, Big Bernie saying it will be re arranged for later in the season

Bahrain being canceled is kinda good for the teams as they have more time to work on the car.

Mixed reaction to this to be honest, on one hand - I'm disappointed to have to wait until the end of March for the Aussie GP.

However, I've never really seen Bahrain as an exciting GP - overtaking in 2010 was minimal and it generally doesn't seem like a good GP to open on.

Agree with above post, only reason that it starts the calender (not this year) is that they give Bernie a quite a bit of cash for it.
Never really have liked Bahrain though except for the fact that I can do a 1.54 on it on F1 2010, which is the same as Vettels pole position lap mind you........ <)

Yep, 25m is the price to hold and F1 race, and an extra 12m to stage the opening event, that's a lot of money they've spent, and all for nothing now!

At least they have got rid of that extra loop from last years race which added nothing.
The circuit should be good with longish straights for over-taking and hopefully the regs for this year would have meant a better race.
I cannot see when the race can be held now as would have to be late in the season due to the heat.
Maybe a Bahrain/Abu Dhabi b2b finale?

Surely it's more than that....
The thing is I don't think Bernie properly thought about canceling it.

1) The riots could have (probably not, but may of died down) stopped.
2) This has implications for the teams due to costs they have already incured from transportation, paying aircargo companies and what not/
3) Also the teams must now refund things like paddock passes
4) Ticket touts have to refund tickets
5) Broadcaster have to remove this from the schedules and then that creates complication.
6) Plus it sucks for people who were waiting for the season to start.

IMO this would be awful as we saw last year what a finale track, that did not promote overtaking caused, so having two of them would be derogatory and would also ruin it for spectators as the top teams would only race in quali. They would go on the harder compound in Q1 & 2 and then do one lap on the softs in Q3 so it's fast and so the tyres last longer. Then in the race it will be the case of just defending their position and driving causiosly so they don't somehow retire from the race.

Happy that the Bahrain GP has at least been moved to a possible different date! My last race of the season was on the Sunday the Bahrain GP was scheduled for :p

I'll try to catch the highlights later but in general how did McLaren do?

Well done Sebastien  Easily my favourite driver, ahead of Kubica, won't be the same without him drving this year. But Vettel finishing 8/10ths ahead of Hamilton, a fantastic time, and on top of that, his and Hamilton's KERS wasn't working!!!

Surprise package has been McLaren, everyone had written them off due to the poor winter testing, but they have done very well. Schumacher will be disappointed to miss out on the final session.

looks like mercedes are still off the pace of the red bulls and ferraris etc
