Tactics

Tactic 1

View attachment 429289

This is my more slightly defensive tactic to use against the bigger teams so it was the tactic I used in the cup games against Fulham and Liverpool, but also use against the bigger clubs that are a potential threat such as QPR and Wigan.

More of a defensive tactic and it used to soak up the pressure and then break and batter the opposition on the counter. Can work really well at times, especially straight after the opponent has scored and they are vulnerable.

-----------------------------------

Tactic 2

Definitely my controlling the game tactic. Will use this in games where I the opposition are dangerous going forward and I will want to control the game, keep possession and reduce the opponents chances.

Very good tactic for controlling the game in the middle of the park with the 3 CMs but also good going forward with the 2 wingers and a strong capable ST upfront who is able to make chances himself.

-----------------------------------

Tactic 3

View attachment 429281

This is the attacking, goal scoring tactic that I will use against lower league sides I think we can absolutely hammer and score a fair few goals against.

Very attacking tactic, but also has instructions for the players to control the game at the same time, therefore reducing the danger of counter attacks.

-----------------------------------

Would be great to see what you use and in what circumstances, my biggest problem on this game is tactics!

Yeah I used to have problems with tactics on this game, but just got to get used to what the other team is going to be like, how to play well against it and also what your players play best with. And after 200 hours play time I think I have got the hang of it slightly!

Important News!

Injury!

View attachment 429264

In the most recent game we played, one of our star players, Anthony Knockaert, was taken off injured right at the end of the game after a dirty tackle, for which no one was even booked! And it turns out he has a broken leg and now he will miss the rest of the season as he is out for 6 - 7 months!

This now means we are missing a strong, expressive, fast, winger who can change the game himself so it means we will definitely be having to look around in January to bring someone in to replace him for now, most likely a loan. But we may recall youngster Jeffrey Schlupp, and give him a chance to get first team football for us and show us what he can do.

Very sad at this news, but also extremely annoyed that whoever did it to him was not punished in any way!

Cup News

We have also been drawn at home against fellow championship team Bolton Wanderers in the FA Cup 3rd Round!

We were actually the 2nd best team in this game, Sheff Wed had a great game, controlling the play, having the most chances but luckily for us they couldn't take them and our defence was playing well. We only managed to get our goal due to a complete mix up in their defence as a pass back was intercepted by Lloyd Dyer, who is playing well in place of the injured Knockaert, may not need a replacement after all.

Very even but boring game with only 10 shots all game, the only big news about this game was that this was the match where Anthony Knockaert broke his leg, and after looking through the highlights I found out it was Andrew Crofts who did it by coming through the back of him, extremely annoyed he wasn't punished.

Felt so good to absolutely batter a good team! We were actually the 2nd best team somehow as we had less shots and less possession but we just took our chances better clearly. Slightly disappointed we let in a goal so close to the end, but Burnley did actually deserve to win that game as they were better, so suppose I can't be too annoyed.

Definitely a game Stoke deserved to win as they showed why they are the team who are in the Premier League as they were on top from start to finish and were able to easily combat our counter attacking technique, although kind of glad we only conceded one, as Stoke deserved to have scored a lot more.

They really showed us this game why they are our main rivals for promotion this season. They controlled the game and were able to end anything we tried quickly and deserved the win. Reading were the better team this game and I am glad I chose the defensive counter attacking tactic for this as it worked perfectly! So even though we had just our 2nd loss of the season and our winning streak came to an end, it was still a very good month as we end the year 9 points clear of Q.P.R and we have set ourselves up to carry on strongly in the new year. Also pleased we have managed to amass 51 points just half way through the season, and if we carry on like this in the 2nd half of the season we will definitely be playing in the Premier League next season!

The man on loan for Everton has had a very good month for us as he won 2 MOTM awards and also picked up the Player of the Month award. Really going to look at trying to get him permanently at the end of the season if he keeps playing like this as he has definitely made the RB position his own.

Also I won the manager of the month award again! Manager of the Season award on its way to me?

Also it is now January which means the transfer market is open! I have a few ideas of positions I would like to improve, who I would like to bring in and also who I want to leave, so we shall see what happens! And I suppose one advantage of Knockaerts injury is that no one can sign him! HA!

Also need to look at Konchesky's tackling as he is starting to get sent off and give away a lot of fouls at the moment. We shall be playing away at Wolves in the 5th Round.

Pretty average month in the league as although we continued our unbeaten streak and are now unbeaten in 6 games in the league, we did draw 2 games against teams who we should have beaten. Now 8 points clear at the top of the table, with a game in hand as well. We also have an incredibly better goal difference with ours +26 and the second best being +17, as we have conceded the joint least amount of goals this season and only lost 2 games in the league so far this season which is absolutely amazing form.

The man who joined us on a free has been in great form for us this month as he scored 2 goals, helped us out with 3 assists and also got 3 MOTM awards this season, has definitely made the right wing position his own and will definitely be keeping it for the time being. Cant see why no one else was trying to get him!

View attachment 429066

We didn't actually have that much transfer activity during this transfer window in terms of bringing players in, as all we managed to do was agree a deal to bring in goalkeeper Marco Bizot on a free at the end of the season, as I see him as a player who will be a great back up to Schmeichel next season, but also has very good potential and I really can see him as being our future Number 1, which is unfortunate for Keita but he hasn't performed that well when we have called upon him so he will definite be going out on loan next season.

View attachment 429065

I know we technically never bought him but I decided to bring Schlupp back from his loan at RB Leipzig to be our first choice left winger in place of the Anthony Knockaert and I have to say so far he has done a good job so glad we didn't have to go through the stress of trying to sign a new player, especially due to the reason I shall be talking about next.

We may not have brought in any players now and we don't necessarily need any, but there were a few players I really wanted to bring in and we actually could have but unfortunately the club is having some financial issues and we didn't actually have any funds available to bring anyone in during this transfer window.

And our poor month comes to a very suited end as we definitely deserved to lose this game as Burnley were on top throughout and brought an end to our 16 league unbeaten run.

Really wasn't a very good month for us, especially as we were playing against a lot of teams that we really should have beaten. Although luckily our rivals below us didn't perform that well either this month so didn't really manage to close the gap on us, but if we perform like this next month, we might not be so lucky. Although in all fairness I was choosing to play a lot younger and inexperienced squad this month to give some of the less used players a chance to show me what they can offer.

Game started off quite well for us as we were on top in the first half as you can see as we went in at half time with a 2-0 lead. But Wigan came out the traps in the 2nd half and were all over us and I am surprised they only managed to score 1, defence was in good form for us. We could have won 3-1 but Konchesky missed a penalty in the last minute... not having much luck with penalties at the moment.

Oops... this back fired immensely... though that seeing as we had already got promotion and in a good position for winning the league I would play a weaker younger side against a team I thought we would be able to bit with it... and I was seriously wrong as Brighton punished me for that choice, dammit. Also we had some problems with discipline this game with 2 red cards and 4 yellow cards, going to have to take a look at that if it becomes a problem because we cant be missing key players at the start of next season through bans etc.

Think complacency was a bit of an issue in this game... played with the strongest squad I could and we still got slapped! We were lucky their finishing was shocking and that they only scored 2 as they easily could have scored 4 or 5... really shouldn't be slacking off at the moment as the other teams are actually starting to close the gap and if we play like this we could possibly not end the season as champions.

Complacency has really become a bit of a problem now as we were battered again! Although I could quite easily pin this game on Zuculini... first game back after being sent off against Brighton and he gets sent off again. And what makes it even worse was that both the yellow cards he got resulted in Q.P.R having their penalties. Although we are quite lucky I suppose, because of other results, we now only need 1 point and for other results to go our way for us to be champions... come on!!

Oh it has been an incredible season for us! I don't think it could have actually gone much better, maybe a few better performances at the end of the season but still, we have done enough for us to win the league and get us to the promised land of English football which is the Premier League! Wigan Athletic will be joining us through the automatic position and Q.P.R will be joining us as winners of the play off's. Blackpool, Birmingham and Doncaster did not have good season at all and will be playing in league one next season... couple of players they have I may take a look at poaching!

End of Pre-Season

So pre-season has come to an end and we shall be very shortly making our return to the Premier League with a home game against West Brom, and as they are quite a relatively good team, will be good to see how well we fair against them.

Pre-season went very well for us in my opinion, as you can see from the results we just seemed to get better and better! Especially pleased with the result against PSV as they are a very good team and we did very well to be the better team and also get a cleansheet.

We also ended pre-season style as we demolished Stranraer 8-1 and then had a very good performance from some younger players against Trabzonspor. Nice to also see that the new signings (who you will see in the next update) have settled in well!

Here are the fixtures for the rest of August and our first 4 games as back being a Premier league team

View attachment 427543

Be nice to see if we can stand up to and do well against Man Utd again and also hope we can get some payback on Q.P.R for the 3-0 less at the end of less season...

COME ON LEICESTER! BACK IN THE BIG TIME!

Sad we weren't able to get one over on Q.P.R but we were actually lucky to even get a draw. Very acceptable and pretty good start to the season as we find ourselves exactly mid way up the table... down the table...? Even though he scored an own goal he played brilliantly in our 3 league games so far as he scored 2 goals for us, and I am sure he was the main reason as to why we didn't concede a lot more goals against Q.P.R. With some of the transfers we have brought in it is possible Morgan may lose his position but Liam Moore definitely will not. He has also been called up to play for the England U21's!

View attachment 427481

After getting promoted and then looking at the quality of our squad I decided we needed a big overhaul of our squad and to bring in a lot of class players and get rid of a lot of the deadwood/players who aren't good enough... hope you are ready for this!

View attachment 427480

So of course this was already set up as we brought in Bizot as back up goalkeeper to Schmeichel and Keita has headed out on loan. Can really see Bizot soon fighting Schmeichel for the number 1 jersey and when he does I can then see Keita stepping up and becoming Bizots back up... may not look good for Schmeichel!

View attachment 427479 View attachment 427478

After last seasons Team of the Year squad member Stones left and deciding that De Laet wasn't good enough I decided that we needed to bring in 2 right backs to fight it out for the position, and that's where I was lucky to get Clyne so cheap due to Southamptons relegation and also being able to get Smith on a free. 2 Great young Englishmen who I am sure will be great for us this season and for the future.

View attachment 427477 View attachment 427476

After coming up my main transfer was always going to be to bring in 2 class left backs to replace the aging Konchesky (Who has now left the club) and I was happy I was able to bring in Monreal so cheaply as I think he is a great player and also being able to bring in Briggs cheaply as well as he is definitely one for the future for us and maybe even for England. Did come close to signing Luke Shaw but Man City were his preferred choice :(

View attachment 427475 View attachment 427473 View attachment 427472

At the end of the season I saw Whitbread and Wasilewski were both declining so decided to let them leave the club and enter the market for a few class centre backs... and what finds I made! Ryan Bennett and Dan Burn are 2 great young English players who I was able to great relatively cheaply and will definitely be great players for the future. Also so happy I was able to get a world class and potentially one of the best most exciting future centre backs in the world... Eder Alvarez Balanta! He is such an amazing player and I cant believe we got him for just 10 Million! Will be an amazing player for us for years to come and I am definitely sure if we ever sell him we will make some hefty profit! Lovely!

View attachment 427469 View attachment 427468

Decided that Bentley wasn't going to be able to cut it in the Prem so decided I best get another Right Winger to contest for the position with Knockaert. Was delighted to be able to get a player of Quaresma's calibre, man who has played for clubs such as Chelsea and Barcelona... free as well! Also brought in Stewart who has good potential but wouldn't be able to cut it in the Prem just yet so thought it would be best to loan him out to get the experience he needs.

View attachment 427465

Felt that we didn't have a player who is good enough to perform game in game out for us on the left wing as Schlupp is still quite young so I was happy to poach Rodriguez from Southampton very cheap and will definitely be our first choice left winger. Will still give chances to Schlupp to give him the experience he needs to grow.

View attachment 427464

With King, Zuculini, James and Drinkwater being great players who I think can perform I though it would be a good idea to bring some experience to the side so I was happy to get Gareth Barry on a free as he is still a great player at this level and will be a great addition to the squad.

View attachment 427463 View attachment 427462

2 absolutely brilliant signings as Vydra is an absolutely quality player and scored 15 goals in 32 games at this level last season for West Brom so to get him for free is absolutely amazing. He is already worth 6.25 Million and I am sure he will be great forward for us for years to come, fighting it out with Wood to be our main striker. And after letting Nugent, Waghorn and and Futacs go I thought we could do with more back up other than Heskey so decided to bring in Delfouneso on a free who I think is a very good young Englishman and a more than adequate back up player, also having good potential as well.

Michael Essien is definitely going to be a big player for us this season, and as a result of him coming in Dean Hammond will be leaving the club, whether that is permanent or on loan I am not sure, but with us already having Barry, King, James, Drinkwater and Zuculini, and now Essien, Hammond really is not needed anymore.

Brought back down to earth as Arsenal showed us it will be tough in this league, but we did actually put up quite a fight, but definitely Arsenal deserved the win, but if we had tried just that little bit harder we could have got a draw, as Arsenal did not exactly dominate us.

Exactly the same as the last game! Chelsea were the slightly better side and did deserve the win but if we just performed slightly better and had a bit more possession we could have got the draw... although we could have got the draw in this game but the guys just seemed to tire late on!

Holy **** what a game!! Manchester City should have scored 5 or 6 against us as they had 33 shots! Possession and everything else was equal but clearly they make better use of their possession and create more chances! So pleased we were able to hold them back and get the win! Also after this game something happened...

Although we may have lost 2 and won 2 I am still very happy with how the month went... we played 4 of the best teams in the world and managed to beat 2 of them and only just lose to the others! Incredible! We are still in an amazing position in the table and think we are now definitely going to be able to get a top half finish!

Also the draw for the FA Cup 3rd Round was made this month where we will be playing away at Reading!

The young Argentinian has been the aim of a lot of transfer activity over the summer and I can definitely see why... was incredible the entire month and definitely showed why he is one of and maybe even our best central midfielder. Will definitely be keeping him here for as long as possible unless we get some ridiculous offer... also if he keeps performing as well as he is I can't see why he wouldn't get a call up!

Our month may have been appalling but obviously other results went our way as we are still in 6th place! Our goal difference has taken a battering though as we conceded 9 goals this month... but still think we have the potential to finish in the top half this season which is why I changed our expectations to that aim and we now have a nice little war chest of 21 Million for January!

Although we may already have Briggs as our future Left Back Zenga is someone I am greatly looking forward to seeing playing for us in the future as I believe he has the potential to be a great left back and will definitely end up contesting with Briggs for that position! I sent him back to the club I brought him from on loan for the rest of the season so that he would still be able to get first team football.

View attachment 424497 View attachment 424496

With me quite often using a formation with a central attacking midfielder and not actually having any players being able to play their naturally I thought it would be good to bring in a couple of players who can. Therefore I was very happy to be able to bring in the experienced Tim Cahill who will be my first choice, he is a great player who, even though he is 35, I am sure he will definitely be able to still perform well for us. Also brought in Petrucci who I believe will be a good back up to Cahill but also has good potential as well. Of course even better that both of these were brought in on a free.

View attachment 424493

When I saw John Guidetti going for just 250k I definitely had to get him... he is a great young player and with Heskey and Vydra being out injured I thought it would be a good idea to bring in someone else. He has already been playing well for us with 2 goals in 3 games... definitely has potential and I am sure he will be a top striker when he is older.

MOTM: Liam Moore (Leicester City)

Usually run into problems when I decide to play a weaker side but not this game... we were on top from start to finish and they scored their only shot on target this game, which was only due to my defence getting in a mix up. Still an easy win and we will go on to play Arsenal in the Semi Final!

MOTM: David Luiz (Chelsea)

I have to admit... I have to feel sorry for Chelsea as they definitely deserved all 3 points as they were the much better side and gave us nothing all game but once it got to 80 minutes I decided to go for it and go for overload and it clearly worked as we had 6 shots in the last 10 minutes and managed to get a goal and get us a point!

MOTM: Davide Petrucci (Leicester City)

What a win! We were probably actually the better team this game and I think we actually deserved this win. Also very happy that Guidetti was able to show City what they are missing as he scores against his former team and actually his 5th goal in 9 games! Also happy we were able to dig in and get another late goal to get us the win!

Happy with this months results as our pretty easy cup run has got us into the Semis where we have the tough match against Arsenal! Also extremely happy with the league results as I actually thought we wouldn't be able to get anything from them so to get 4 points from 6 is great. We are 7 points behind Arsenal in 3rd and 5 ahead of Stoke in 5th so I do honestly believe that we are going to finish 4th this season!

Best Player of March

Davide Petrucci

Brought in one a free and this month he repaid my faith in signing him when no one else would... 2 goals, both giving us the leads in the games and in terms of the Man City game, the winner. Definitely deserved the MOTM for that game and hope he can keep performing and popping up with late goals, definitely a player who can win us games and get us points by himself!
