Would love to see a few more results from this may use it as a new away tactic for barca! What are your away results like?

I think its better as home tactic
but then again i had some crazy results away like that stoke match.. but i assume that when teams park the bus
It may need some defensive tweaking so attacking sides away might concede a few CCC

4-2-3-1 with CMs is very attacking so i think its best as home tactic
Going to try to make one with DMs perhaps for away/harder games bit Mourinho´ish

I have just employed this tactic for my Man United team during season 2017/2018. It's been like 9-10 games and I'm destroying every single team that comes up including a cheeky 5-0 win against Liverpool at home, 2-0 away win against Juventus, and a 5-0 win against City at home.

Here are the things I have noticed:

- Tactic works a lot better at home than away but I'm still winning most of my away games but I'm just scoring less.
- Your strikers, if they are suitable for the Advanced Forward role, will score an endless amount of goals. Gabriel Barbosa is on 15 goals from 10 games.
- The AMs are amazing, assists and a few goals are guaranteed. I've never had a more productive Mata and Januzaj.
- Your CBs concede a fairly high amount of yellow cards. I end up subbing one of them around the 65th minute regardless if I'm leading, drawing or behind just so I don't fall down to 10 men.
- Most of the goals you concede will be on the break when your men have pushed up too highly.
- I have set my match training to Defensive positioning and left the training to Tassotti and this seems to be the most effective combo.

This tactic is the best 4-2-3-1 tactic if you're into minimum tinkering. I don't use OIs and I don't really tweak it tbh and its working like a charm. I will be quite interested to see how long it will take before the AI starts countering this tactic thus requiring me to tweak it a bit.

Anywho, massive well done on creating this tactic.

Good that you shared this with us buzzy :) Mind sharing some screens and your future progress as well?
I like the points you wrote down. I often suceed with an advanced forward in my lone striker form, but he needs, as u say, fit the role and he will score a ton. Lukaku got over 40 league goals in my old 4-2-3-1 deep wide as AF.

The Defence is a bit of an issue.
I think just putting them on defend instead of stop could do the trick
It would be great if u wanted to try something like this

I might construct a 3 ATB formation with 2 strikers, so that people can work out their back up striker
When building a squad around 4-2-3-1, just as mourinho I like to have 2 very good strikers
For example today he has even 3, falcao, remy, costa
Having a 2 striker + formation is a great way of giving the backup some games too, and switching it up for the AI

Having some difficulties making a good 5 ATB this year
will see if I can come up with a defensive tactic soon

Something I noticed, as of course, with all tactics, they need to be fluid
But this tactics gets an absolute massive boost when 100 % fluid

Finally got some time to play a bit with my FC Köln(Cologne) save

First leauge match, and only second competitive game of the season:

Edit:

after 13 leauge matches and a good share of injuries:

Can't wait to see how the tactic performs, when it's 100% fluid :)

Guys remove tight marking from CBs temporary solution
Against passers like Bayern this defence presses them Good but against
Longballing sides u Will suffer

A solution could also be the cheriksen model and use low d line
against these teams

I would be glad if someone could help me fix a stable d line
And Yeah u can hit me up on pm if u want to help create a 5-3-2 defensive tactic as supplement to this one

Written from my phone

Working well for me!

Ive been having great results with this! Ive only signed Balanta, had a few dodgy results against Leicester and Burnley but otherwise loving this tactic :D

Nice to see, 2nd with swansea!
Yeah I can imagine it was teams like this. The defence need a fix
43 points mid season with Swans great!
Now we want to reduce the amount concede. U got 27 conceded there half season right?
Should be about 15-20

Its so hard cause with a more stable defence u will get bullied more by the short passing top teams

1st. season done with Fc Köln(Cologne)

Can't complain at all, with a low wage and transfer budget and 3 new players all on free transfer, and a fair share of injuries, I think this is very good performance for a team predicted to finish 17th - could be scary to try this tactic with a big team ;)

Didn't get too many cards either, which i find quite nice, especially with a smaller club where the back up players might lack a bit.

Bayern did the treble, but this happend:

Nice results there!
Dont forget to remove "tight marking" from CBs

Working on a assymetric tactic with DMs and 1 deeper wide mid!
Going well so far, this is more stable defensive and is good to shake up the AI!
stay tuned

heeh I did forget about the "tight marking" from the CBs, gotta remember that for season 2, and a bit more luck with my strikers and the injuries in matches, caused by opponent players, might help in that end of the pitch too :)

About the defensive part, it's was only Bayern who really hammered me, twice in the leauge and in the cup semi final - i think my biggest defeat was 4-0, not too bad with 5 first team regulars on the injury list and a badish captain, as both captain and vice captain was on the injury list - so again, I can't complain about the tactic used on FC Köln (H)

Excuse me, keep the CBs as stoppers, but remove tight marking
when playing really longballing sides swtich to "low d line"

really nice tactic.. have conceded twice in 4 games, both penalties unfortunately..
I'm playing as Liverpool, and the striker plays great.. also, the RW creates numerous chances, while the LW seems to find spaces to finish them..

the best part is that the 2 in the midfield don't leave lot of spaces leaving the back 4/5 exposed..

solid tactic.. attacking threat, defensively a wall..

Although its not as good defensivly as I want. Remove "tight marking" from your CBs.. keep them stoppers

The 4-2-3-1 DM Wide I made (not as good in newer patches) conceded like 14-15 goals a season with a great team
Those DMs sure can improve it a lot

But I cant get it to work!
But this CB couple does a decent job

I'm on 15.3.2...
I keep my CB's to close down very less actually.. and to hold position.. I prefer them as stoppers in general when I tend to play a high line.. I conceded about 3 goals in 9/10 games I believe using your tactic, and scoring about 25-30 goals.. having played Man Utd, Real Madrid, Everton, Arsenal etc in those games.. (I'm Liverpool)!

the chances created and possession stats are amazing! seriously..
I've had games against good PL teams where I created about 45-50 chances, with about 25 on target.. and of those, 3-6 goals in a few games.. while the other team gets less than 10-15 chances.. in a few games, the opponents have had just 3-5 shots..

possession ranges from a good 55% to a lovely 65-70% in games..

my front 4 are from the following :
Sturridge, Balotelli, Lacazette, Sterling, Markovic, Munir(loan), Coutinho, Lallana, Carrasco..

Yeah it dominates well I would just like to avoid some of the CCCs u sometimes concede
Somehow with DMs you can be rock solid at the back with 4-2-3-1, but its hard to dominante possession and chance creation

Do you know if this tactic works on FMC at all mate?

It probably does but those OIs are great for avoiding crosses which is the weakness of 4-2-3-1
You have to see how it goes without those OIs! give it a swing
