There was shockwaves sent around Germany as the German Captain who has not played for Germany since November 2009 was left out of his world cup Squad. The fans are outraged that there best player has not been picked.
BBC Sport understands that Matthäus didnt pick the aging Ballack as he prefers the younger team of Schewinstiger and Kaaderia as the team works better as there is no world class star in the team to pressure the young guns.

Germany proved how good a team they are by beating a poor Japan team by 3 goals to 0 Germany were 2-0 up in 9 minutes through Poldolski and Muller strikes and they really good have scored more they got there third through an owngoal by the Japan goalie Honda who deflected a shot from the German Vice Captain Miroslav Klose into his own goal. The next game for Gemany is a Harder test in the form of the Ivory Coast.

Germany were beaten for only the second time in Lothar Matthäus management and for the first didnt score in the match as they were beaten by a fantastic dipping goal from 25yrds out the Germans were denied shouts for a penalty when Schweinstiger thought he was fouled he was livid and the rref booked him for complaning.
As a last resort Matthäus brought on Mario Gomez and Toni Kroos and Gomez nearly equalised with his first shot which was fantasticly saved by the Ivorian keeper it wasnt to be for the Germans in this match and they now must win there last game with serbia to be sure of progression into the last 16

Sensational Serbia Knock Out Germany
In one of the greatest world cup shocks of all time 3 time World Cup winners Germany have been knocked out of the 2010 world cup at the group stage by a Superb Serbia side whose 3 of the 4 goals are all canditates for World Cup Goal of the Tournament the other was a penalty stupidly given away by Per Mertesacker. The result is even more of a shock as the Germans took the lead three times.
The German players tried in vain to get the important 4th goal to put them through into the 1st knockout round and they were in utter disbelief as it was Serbia and Zigic above who scored a unbelievable goal to take the lead for the first time and ultimitly put out the Germans there now surely must be questions about Matthäus future after a shocking world cup. Matthäus was shellshocked and gutted and the post match press conference saying " In all my years of football I have never seen a team play and score so many great goals as Serbia did if they do that in the next game they will go far I hope the German FA keep me on as I want to make Ammends with a 100 % record in qualifing for EURO 2012 and then win it.

No suprises there as The German FA have sacked the Legend after a awfull world cup where the only won one game. Matthäus said "He was greatfull that the had the Job he is sorry to the German People and He wishes the New Man the best of luck and said that this team will go far nearly all of them are in there 20s and that they will win Euro 2012 or The 2014 World Cup
