I find defensive just as effective as control when in and still get 3 CCC's and a few goals, as long as the forward players are still allowed to improvise in the final 3rd. try that

Well there's 2 CWB's, AP, DLP, T, T, EG...so they should express themselves a bit! I'll give defensive a go in my next couple of games cheers! Any advances on your passing tactic? I'm still trying to get my players to play with the ball a bit outside of the box.

I've not had much time to play this week, will be tweaking and experimenting with mine later today, i'll let you know if i find/think of anything else.

So I ended up this after my endless fiddling around, seems I always end up at some variation of a 4-3-3. Anyway, I would say it's more of a very aggressive 3-4-3 rather than a 4-3-3. The past 5 games I've averaged 65-75% possession (mostly with my reserves even in the CL) and the passing map has been the same as above for the games so far which is promising.

So far the HB, DLP and AP seem to average around 100 passes with the DLP getting 120+ a lot of the time. The WBs also get around 100 and the forwards all get around 50.

Can you think of anything to help keep possession more? Or any suggestions on making it better defensively? At the moment my best form of defence is the traditional Barca tactic of keeping the ball in their half as much as possible so they can't attack.
let their tactics download please

Playing a narrow diamond variation with Man City. I tweaked 42 Toure & 12 Nasri at half time as they were on top of each other, as you can see from stats, possession and defence are great, attack still needd work to get the best our of the front two. They drop and create space for full backs cutting in (both scored). The midfield 3 of Song, Ferd, Toure, all just shy of 100 passes each in the 90's. with both FBs at 70+ and a goal.

Strikers were F9s but not playing well at half time, a switch to 2 Treqs worked great 2nd half both going from 6.6 to 7.2+

Really like the look of that narrow diamond, do you not get destroyed on the wings? I was getting exploited a bit on the counter attack with a formation like that when I tried it

Not really both full backs do alot of work, and the ball is rarely with the oppo, mainly decent for away games at the min, bit restrictive at home.

The Rangers one above has moved into a more basic 451 - View attachment 560303

I tried the formation but I get destroyed on the flanks as there's no one covering it, just packing the middle

Team instructions still the same? I see you added the offside trap :P

Hre you go.. its a bit random.. lol

View attachment 560699 Have a play with it, let me know how you get on, bit too narrow for me, and i have great wing backs and wingers its a shame to sell em. :) I went back to the 2-5-1-2 formation, even the u21 side regs are knocking 90+ passes on a good day

The 451 i have is promising, not sure on the narrow diamond from above, its not consistant yet.

Wow, I really love your work here. I have testet this a couple of matches, and the domination of the matches are so far amazing despite winning only 1-0 and 2-1.

A couple of questions:
- What kind of corners do you use? Short ones?
- What are the player instructions? Do you ask everyone to take make short passes, make less dribles, and take fewer risks?

if i might suggest, remove the look for overlap, as it will make your fullbacks cross the ball from deep and make your wingers run from deep less...

That one above is great for ball retention, not so uch going forward, i've gone back to fixing the 2512 from the OP.

Cheers now getting 120+ out of 3 players, and 90+ out of another 3. :)

Hi.
How is that "4-2-3-1" working for you? Same team-instructions as in OP?
