Hi.
How is that "4-2-3-1" working for you? Same team-instructions as in OP?

Not really used it to much, the narrow diamond is great away and i've been playing 2 up front for the home games,

202 completed passes... and not one of them key ;).

As he said that was the HB, whos job it is to tick things over. Yes the HB and deep midfielders didn't have many key passes, but if you look at the team as a whole there's plenty of key passes so who cares really! :)

My best result yet in the semis of CL, 66% possession.

CBs = 70~ WBs = 70~ DM = 90~ DLP/AP = 110~ front 3 = 60~

Seems to be around the same every match at the moment, creating a bucket load of CCCs as you can see with that many against Chelsea, I'll give it a few more games and then try it with a lower league team with plenty midfielders.

Edit: And more importantly check Chelsea's passing out in the match! :P

Nice, Chelsea are always a pain, i want the AI chelsea tactic for my team.

I've almost finished with the 2512, 451, Narrow Diamond and the 4231 variation above, i was gonn atry make a possession based 442 but I'll prob try that next season.

Glad its going well :)

It's going well offensively as in possession I have almost 7 players trying to charge into the box, but defensively it's not going too great, I seem to leak a lot of goals and against the big teams it can be 50/50 whether I destroy them 5-0 or it's a close draw/loss.

With a HB, even if I set my team to drop deeper, the CBs are splitting way too wide, you could drive a bus through my 2 CBs + HB on the counter. With a DM/DLP/BWM/whatever rather than a HB though I am too exposed on the wings on the counter when my WBs have charged forward so I'm unsure how to go forward at the minute, maybe you have some ideas?

Your 2-5-1-2 was one of the more defensively sound formations I played with to be honest!

Tried dropping the WB into the FB position? might force the CB togehter, if you playing possession, they'll still have time to join the attack & provide width, while you're middle three are playing triangles? Mine are wide, but until im promoted im the celtic of this division, so not much of an issue for me at the min.

I'll have to test it over several games, moving them into the FB position actually does nothing different offensively as my CBs and midfield 3 play very slowly and cautiously in the build up so by the time they pass out wide they are up there with my front 3

Will see if I still leak goals on the counter, I want to play a back 3 to prevent being exposed on the counter but I just really don't like the HB at all!

Not sure what you think of the HB role, but if you think about a player like Busquets....he drops into defence to make a back 3 in build up play, and generally stays as a 3rd CB until the WBs are back in position, acting more as a very aggressive CB than a defensive DM

....so I might even try the libero role out to see how that goes haha

Edit: Just tried one game with a libero, he seems to dart forward to act as a DM in possession but only really when I'm deep into the opposition third. Seems to work stat wise though as I conceded less shots and had the same possession. My positional map is effectively a flat 3-4-3 now I guess :P

Yh i did flirt with the idea of have 1 regista flanked by 2 HB. to make a back four when attacking.

Download this tactic?

This is just a general thread, trying to build a tactic based on possesion for my team specifically, just an idea swap, we're not making a tactic for release.

Not sure if this has been suggested before, as I haven't read the whole thread, but maybe changing the wb's to support and having two dm on support? This will mean your wb's will hover around the midfield and pass the ball around instead of bombing forward and taking themselves out of the range for a smple pass. Also, with the dm's on support, they will hover around the same area as the wb's and act as an anchor for any balls laid back, laying balls off to your wb's

Yeah, i picked up on that, still went with the Reg - HB - REG combo of the 3, jsut because of the 2 midfield players i have inthere. i managed to get 150 out of all 3 nearly and play from the wbs and treq in the 90's.

Prob average 65%+ possession, this season and 3 goals a game.

haha Welllll in that case, it just seems mean to be teasing us like this. Are you planning on a release?
