MOTM: Lee Evans

Just not good enough once again. I'm disgusted in how the fashion in which we have lost our last 3 games and we may face a real lottery of play-offs should we not pick our form up. We can only hope teams around us lose.

Just I am speechless, no win in 4. We have maybe just blew all chances of automatic promotion after this result today.

Grimsby 5 - 1 Chester

Thomas (31'), Straker (51'), Evans (54'), Alexander (57'), Pearson (78')

MOTM: Anthony Straker

Well I just don't know how the boys seem to bring out the anti-climax in us. I encouraged the lad to play a little more attacking and we managed to slot 5 past Chester who are not doing too bad. I hope this result picks us up from our mini-slump and we can go and win the rest of the games this season.

MOTM: Paddy McLaughlin

What a big result today.
We need to win the last two games of the season to even stand a chance of winning the league otherwise we will have to do with the playoffs and I would much rather have automatic promotion. The lads pulled a fine performance out of the bag today.

Grimsby 3 - 0 Hyde
Evans (58'), Hannah (62', 79')

MOTM: Ross Hannah

WOOOOOW! What another explosive performance to the already relegated Hyde. My heart was pumping as we went into half time 0-0 and I thought we may have blew it, we didn't take any chances and we was missing oppotunities. It will all go down to the final game of the season now and look how tight it is with only one game to go:

MOTM: Dan Holman

The worst possible result we could have wanted. If either Forest Green or Barnet have gained a point today we have to settle for the play-offs. We will wait anxiously to find out whether or not we can celebrate, it's highly unlikely though as us 3 giants have been winning games all year and the chances of us all losing are very slim.

WE'VE DONE IT!!!!!!!!!!! WE HAVE WON PROMOTION BACK TO THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE!!
Even after losing our final game which we thought was so vital to win, local rivals Lincoln even did us a favour. We are delighted and the fans are going crazy, there will be glory days in the football league back at Blundell Park. We are Champions, it's been a long, grueling season but a enjoyable one every step of the way. We garnered an extra 200,000 from our FA Cup run this season which will help with the budget next season. I hope that we are so successful in the future and I can take my hometown to more glory. I will be partying tonight.

We have brought in some undoubted quality. Players who are of a very high quality and some who will be used as squad players. I have also brought in a wealth of experience into the squad as I feel we will need some older heads in the team should we want to last a good majority of the season with a calm influence. Notable signings include the tricky winger in Joel Grant on loan who will no doubt provide trickiness and a direct running approach for defenders. Rowan Vine who was a regular in the SPL last year for Hibernian but has spent the majority of his career playing in the Championship. The biggest coup of the window was Scott Vernon who will lead the line for us, a regular at Aberdeen and his attributes will show just how good of a player he will be.

Some of the players going out I wanted to keep but they was requesting too much money for my liking. The notable ones being Alex Rodman and Andi Thanoj. Andi is an Albanian u21 international and is tipped for good things, it's a shame to see him go. The rest of the players didn't warrent a new deal and I wish them well with their careers.

All Friendlies this year have been delegated to the assistant

Tranmere 1 - 2 Grimsby
Hearn (59'), Gnahore (85')

Grimsby 1 - 2 Preston
McDonald (74')

Grimsby 1 - 3 Arsenal
Vine (24')

Hampton & Richmond 0 - 3 Grimsby
McLaughlin (34'), Hannah (83'), O.G. (88')

A very positive pre-season by my assistant whom I have spoken with closely, we will be very ready and we have trained hard with alot more fitness coming into this year as we aim to be the fittest team in the league and be able to last for a full 90 minutes against teams. We have assembled a very good squad and hopefully we can gel in time for the league.

Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 2nd August 2014

The Proact Stadium

Chesterfield 0 - 1 Grimsby
Vernon (43')

MOTM: Liam Cooper

Welcome back to the League Grimsby! Chesterfield who are favorites to gain a playoff place this year was taken apart by our technical side of the game matched with physical. The league seems alot less physical than the Skrill Premier and I have trained my players to match teams physically and not be bullied out the game. We played out our skins and on his debut Scott Vernon smashed in the winner for us to get us off to the perfect start.

Capital One Cup First Round
Tuesday 5th August 2014

Hillsborough

Sheff Wed 1 - 1 Grimsby (7-8 pens)
Alexander (41'), Thomas sent off

MOTM: Gary Alexander

A fantastic result to see us through to the next round of the Capital One Cup and a performance that inspires the team and those around them, we have proven last year we have it in our locker to beat higher reputation teams. We deserved a win in normal time and a cruel last minute equalizer sent us to extra-time when we took it to penalties and dispatched 8 in a row to take us to the next round of the cup! Lets have another cup run again!!!!!!

Grimsby 1 - 1 Newport County
Vernon (88')

MOTM: Fraser Franks

I'm very happy with the result today. We are favorites to finish just above the drop zone and was not fancied today but we dug in after taking a blow and managed to grasp a goal in the last two minutes of the game by that man Vernon again, I'm just sorry we couldn't give the fans an opening win at home as they have been excellent supporting us since I joined.

Sky Bet League Two

The Fans' Stadium - Kingsmeadow

AFC Wimbledon 0 - 0 Grimsby

MOTM: Josh Passley

A stalemate today in Wimbledon, both teams was the same in both terms that we couldn't create and opening and we was both good defensively. An away point in the league will always be taken given our prediction to finish 20th. I think if we continue to train hard and work for eachother we may just overachieve.

Sky Bet League Two

Blundell Park

Grimsby 5 - 2 Hartlepool
Vernon (1', 64'), Vine (35', 70'), Morris (52')

MOTM: Scott Vernon

What a fantastic game and we gain our first win at home of the season for the fans; what a way to do so. I thought we was going to chuck it away going down 2-1 scoring two own goals in the process but we never stand defeated and struck Hartlepool for five. Braces for Vernon and Vine who was very impressive today and a goal for Chelsea legend Jody Morris.

Capital One Cup Second Round
Wednesday 27th August 2014

Blundell Park

Grimsby 2 - 1 Norwich
Hearn (18'), Neilson (84')

MOTM: Scott Neilson

GET IN THERE! Another massive win against Premier League opposition this time, the two key players from last year who sent us through, a match in which we didn't look off the pace to Norwich despite a 3 division gap between us. We pressed high and pressured them from the off and reaped our rewards. Hopefully we get a good draw for next round!

Vine (51')

MOTM:

We seem to be penalty experts, scoring every single one we have taken this season! A good derby match between us and York. I thought in the first half an hour we was on the back foot but after that we controlled the match and had the better chances of the teams.

York 2 - 1 Grimsby
Vine (45+1')

MOTM: Sean McAllister

Well York got their vengance back on us after dumping them out of the Johnstones Paint Trophy. We wasn't the best today but I can take the positives out of the game that we was creating chances and the lads kept going. It's our first loss of the season after being promoted and I'm still very happy.

Sky Bet League Two

The Bescot Stadium

Walsall 2 - 4 Grimsby
Pearson (22', 81'), Vine (30'), Alexander (85')

MOTM: Shaun Pearson

Delighted with this fantastic result, we always knew it was going to be a hard task against Walsall who've just come down from League One. They was playing against teams such as Wolves as we was playing teams such as Hyde. Nevertheless we dug in after being pegged back twice and fan favorite Shaun Pearson popped up with two vital goals to send us home with the win.

Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 20th September 2014

Sixfields Stadium

Northampton
2 - 2 Grimsby
Hearn (18'), Granja (62')

MOTM: Liam Hearn

Before the match I'd of taken a draw, but not at two up. I'm the one to take blame though after we conceded I set the team to sit back way too much and it invited too much pressure on us resulting in a goal. It wasnt the players, but it's a learning curve for me as a manager who is still learning everyday. It could have been worse.

Capital One Cup Third Round
Tuesday 23rd September 2014

Stadium:MK

MK Dons 1 - 1 Grimsby (4-5 pens)
Vine (44')

MOTM: Charles Dunne

MK Dons fans have had a massive backlash against the current owner of the club and most of the fans boycotted the game today leaving a measly 1200 homefans. We matched them in every area of the pitch and we had the drive of our fans making more than the home support. We are the lowest ranked team left in the cup and have impressed many pundits and supporters. We have still not missed a penalty this season. The only downside to the game was an injury to Rowan Vine who's been exceptional for us.

Capital One Cup Fourth Round draw:
Leicester v Grimsby

Sky Bet League Two

Grimsby 1 - 3 Portsmouth

MOTM: Reece Brown

We couldn't compete with Portsmouth today, they have lots of quality players and I was surprised they didn't go up last season, they are a huge club and we kept them at bay until the 60th minute but wasn't strong enough to overcome the threat from Portsmouth and I feel that they will go up this year.

Our electric start to the season seems to have simmered abit, still we put in a good performance against Plymouth and had the better of the chances between the two teams. We was just extremely unlucky and shouldn't be too downhearted about the result. We will start again on the training ground tomorrow.

MOTM: Scott Vernon

A single, solitary goal was enough to win the game today against relegation-threatened Dagenham & Redbridge. We kept a tight defence as we have been leaking goals of late and a clean sheet was a massive morale boost for the whole of the team and Scott Vernon got back to scoring ways.

A game of many chances, either team could of won it but both teams missed a numerous amount of chances but Rochdale was the first ones to strike first, when we went hunting for a goal they got us on the counter. A missed opportunity for us today.

Capital One Cup Fourth Round

Leicester deserved the win today and they didn't allow us a single shot on target. We have done well to reach this stage though and the lads can be so pleased beating the likes of Norwich and MK Dons on the way. We certainly have sent out a warning to teams above that we don't fear anyone.

This is the first time I've been bitterly disappointed with the lads, Exeter are near the foot of the table and we have established ourselves now to see we should be winning games near the bottom of the table. I told the lads the result today was unacceptable and we must win these sort of games.

I'm facing one of my toughest times as a manager, we can't buy a win in the league at the minute despite controlling most games, I may have to look at juggling things to get a win. We will stay strong as a unit and I know it's hard after such a good start in the league but we are doing our best.

We are through to the Semi-Finals of the JPT. We kept a clean sheet and again won a game on penalties, if we win the next game we will have a final. The lads have been really unlucky recently and it will only take a matter of luck till we are back up and running in the league again.

There it is!!! We have a league win after our drought we get a vital away win at Cheltenham. A cultured performance and all the lads backed one another up, it was only a matter of time. We also kept a clean sheet to top off a brilliant performance but the game was overshadowed by a horrific challenge on Scott Vernon which saw him stretchered off and hopefully he wont be injured for long.

We was struggling with injuries today and the squad was looking depleted, I can make no excuses though and we need the transfer window to come to make a few adjustments to the team as some games we have 6-7 players pulling the weight while some players look switched off so we will have to sort that.

In's:

Scott Wiseman - A excellent signing for us on a free transfer, he will provide quality at the fullback position which we have been looking for all season and hopefully he will get into the thick of things quick.

Miguel Angel Garrido - A Spanish winger who was made available on deadline day, hopefully his trickery will provide us with something different.

Theddy Ongoly - Experienced Centre-Back who joins till the end of the season to provide cover for the defence, he will be very useful if called upon.

Outs:

Paddy McLaughlin - Not featured much this season and he has been uneffective in games where he has been used.

Dayle Southwell (loan) - Dayle has the potential to be a fantastic player but there is alot of work to be done.

Hartlepool 0 - 3 Grimsby

Vernon (12', 45+3', 46')

MOTM: Scott Vernon

Vernon gave Hartlepool fans a reason to worry, a hat-trick from the experienced striker makes it his first one of the season and a very good away win for us and we secure three points again. A matchball for Scotty Vernon

The Crown Ground

Accrington 2 - 3 Grimsby
Granja (3', 21'), Vernon (70')

MOTM: Fercundo Granja

We turned this game around like champions, another three goals away from home and more signal of intent we could mount a place for the play-offs but I hold my tongue as it may be way too early quite yet and we still could finish a mile off.

Sky Bet League Two

Blundell Park

Grimsby 2 - 0 York
Hearn (45'), Vine (69')

MOTM: Liam Hearn

Always nice winning against your closest rivals in the league. We looked convincing going forward and backing it up defensively with a clean sheet which makes me happy. Rowan Vine got back on the scoresheet after a long time of his name being abscent from it.

FA Cup Fourth Round
Saturday 24th January 2015

Blundell Park

Grimsby 2 - 2 Middlesborough
Vernon (13'), Hearn (81')

MOTM: Suso

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! We was so close yet again from going to the next round and our FA Cup exploits continue.. I can't tell you how we manage to pull it off but we was two minutes away from sealing a place there before Middlesborough sneaked a equaliser to break our hearts but we will get a replay at the Riverside and give it our best!

Sky Bet League Two

MOTM: Nathan Tyson

Well Nathan Tyson ripped us a new arsehole to put it politely. When strikers are in that form there is no stopping them.
Move on.

Sky Bet League Two

Fratton Park

Portsmouth 2 - 0 Grimsby

MOTM: Chris Dickson

Same as last game, except Portsmouth are a massive fish in a small pond. Chris Dickson has 25 league goals in 28 games for them this year and he brought his A-game today which ultimately destroyed us and our plans to try salvage a draw from this match
. We have had two difficult games but next month is another month and we wipe the slate clean.

FA Cup Fourth Round
Wednesday 4th February 2015

The Riverside Stadium

Middlesbrough 3 - 1 Grimsby (AET)
Mullins (69')

MOTM: Lukas Jutkiewicz

Our FA Cup dreams are over! But we didn't go without a fight and drove Middlesbrough all the way to extra-time to beat us. The lads yet again have been wonderful for us and they have done the club proud in these competitions knocking out bigger opponents which people thought we would be trounced by. We will now focus solely on the league.

(Josh Garners 100th game in charge of Grimsby Town)

Grimsby 4 - 2 Northampton
Hearn (6', 30'), Ongoly (18'), Alexander (29')

MOTM: Liam Hearn

A first half flurry of goals saw me mark my 100th game in charge with one to remember. A very open game but we controlled it in most parts not giving Northampton chances, but when we did they took them and was very clinical in doing so. We did well to limit them to the number they had and won the game.

Johnstones Paint Trophy North Final First Leg
Tuesday 10th February 2015

The Keepmoat Stadium

Doncaster Rovers 2 - 5 Grimsby

Vernon (31', 58', 65' 90+3'), Vine (82')

MOTM: Scott Vernon

Well I'm speechless. Scott Vernon has come out with an absolute worldie in the first leg of the final against Doncaster, four goals in a dazzling display and we killed Doncaster although they are lying in 2nd in the league above, we fear nobody and we will take a three goal advantage into the finals second leg. There was a proud moment aswell for 16 year old striker Simon Wall to make his debut for us.

Sky Bet League Two

Grimsby
0 - 0 Dag & Red

MOTM: Kevin Feely

Against bottom of the table, I really expect us to be getting a win. The performance wasn't up to scratch and I see it as a huge two points lost. They will be going home celebrating like its a massive three points against us. We couldn't muster a goal against Daggenham today.

Johnstones Paint Trophy North Final Second Leg
Tuesday 17th February 2015
Blundell Park

Grimsby 0 - 0 Doncaster (5-2 agg)

MOTM: James McKeown

A good draw in these circumstances and we book ourselves in a place at.. WEMBLEY. We will look forward to the big event and it will be very good for the club financialy. We won't let our heads sway from the league though as that is the prioty. James McKeown showed again why he's our #1 by pulling off a numerous amount of quality saves.

MOTM: Oakley Hawkins

Promotion chasing Plymouth put us to the sword after we slipped into an early lead, we can't expect to go and win every game we play and we have to accept that although we are overperforming we are still way above our expectations and can't take defeats too deep. We bounce back.

What a fantastic turn around and I can't credit the players enough for it. Being two nil down Liam came into light and smashed a hat-trick for us to take all three points back to Grimsby. A vital win which still keeps us in contention for a place in the play-offs.

Gillingham 0 - 0 Grimsby
Thomas sent off

Thomas nearly left us in the lurch after another red card which is his 3rd of the season which is unacceptable and will be fined two weeks wages as his actions, it nearly lost us the game as Gillingham was dominating when we went down to 10 men.

MOTM: Rhys Bennett

The referee has killed us today. Missing two clear penalty claims for us where both players was butchered down in the area, I am disgusted at such poor officiating skills and they ought to be ashamed
. We played great and the defence was tight and like a brick wall today.

A variety of scorers today which is nice to see goals spread throughout the team. We have been very, very good defensively recently conceding one in our past three games. If we stop a leak of goals then we cannot lose. A very good win today, the fans was also excellent in getting behind the team.

A good away point. Fleetwood are in the play-off spots and have been very, very strong at home only long once all season so to take a point was good. It's been a long, grueling season but we mush keep pushing on and trying.

This is brilliant! Looks great and you're doing great! Being a fellow Grimsby Lad like yourself it was great to see a Grimsby story on here.. I was going to do one myself as I am also Grimsby, in my 4th season now, 2nd season in League 1! I got to the FA cup semis two years ago before losing 2-1 to Arsenal! But yeah, well played! A great read!

Grimsby 3 - 0 Colchester
Morris (35'), Vernon (74'), Feely (86')

MOTM: Kevin Feely

What a win and what an occasion. A crowd of 75,000 was on hand to witness us smash Colchester on the hallowed ground of Wembley. We looked like the ones in a higher division as we controlled all the game and never ever give them a sniff. A nice little bit of silverware for this season.

Mansfield whom will be play-off opponents should we get there dispatched of us today and did so with ease. We wasn't at our best and looked like we was suffering a hangover from the Johnstones Paint Trophy. We have no time for failure now and we need to try our hardest to sneak a place in the playoffs!!!

What an important result today, without key man Liam Hearn who unfortunately will be leaving at the end of the season we had a gap to fill and Evan Horwood stepped in to fill the void and didn't disappoint with the winner today against an awesome Coventry side!

An early goal from Facundo gave us the lead which we clung onto and Torquay didn't get near our goal. Great defending once again from us and we keep on improving as the season goes on. We are still in with a shout of a place in the playoffs. We can only play our best and hope.

A great result and a scoreline to ease the nerves, the only thing i'm unhappy about is being 4-0 up and conceding two late, sloppy goals to give them the credibility of looking like they deserved them.

Wrexham 2 - 2 Grimsby
Granja (14', 77')

MOTM: Facundo Granja

A credible draw at Wrexham and we have sealed our place in the playoffs!!! We lost Scott Vernon early on though which is terrible news as we will be without him and Hearn for the playoffs. With the form Fercundo Granja's in, he could be our man to fire us to victory. We will wait and see.

I gave some players rest today for preperation for the playoffs. We did ok considering we didn't have many players from the first team, now we must try our lottery in the playoffs.

Cheers mate, the cup runs seem very good if you sit back defensive. Bigger teams seem to push more forward and are liable to the counter

Sky Bet League Two Playoff Semi Final First Leg
Tuesday 5th May 2015

Blundell Park

Grimsby 4 - 2 Gillingham
Grant (1', 67'), Alexander (56', 74')

MOTM: Gary Alexander

Despite being completely overrun by injuries, we give ourselves a massive advantage going into the second leg with a two goal swing in our favor. Gillingham wasn't at their best and we took full advantage of that by smashing four past them. We will need composure to get through to the final though.

Sky Bet League Two Playoff Semi Final Second Leg

Gillingham 1 - 3 Grimsby (3-7 agg)
Alexander (5'), Pearson (36'), Grant (88')

MOTM: Sean Pearson

WE ARE THROUGH TO THE FINAL OF THE PLAYOFFFFFFS!!!!
We managed to beat them in their own backyard aswell, a great victory over them and it fills us with confidence going into the final which we will be playing York. I hope this set of lads can do it as we have 11 injuries to first team or rotational players which concerns me but we have nothing to lose in that final as shown here against Gillingham!!

Sky Bet League Two Playoff Final
Saturday 16th May 2015

Wembley

Grimsby 0 - 1 York

MOTM: Danny Parslow

Heartbreak, complete heartbreak for us. We have come so far and to lose in the final is like receiving a dagger in the heart. I can't say a word wrong about the lads as they was excellent for me and have been all season in overachieving. We was without 11 players due to injury, I know it won't change anything but we have had no luck yet we still put in a classy performance and we will start again next season stronger and hungrier for success.
