Grimsby Town - We only sing when we're fishing.

Unlucky in playoffs mate. At least a nice healthy transfer budget to ensure automatic promotion this year.

I know, was a kick in the balls at the time but will be able to assemble a excellent squad to hopefully get automatic.

Darren Carson, regen brought in from Carrick.

I'm delighted with the signings brought in as they are all improvements on last year or are players with a huge potential such as Darren Carson who I have very, very high hopes for. Notable transfers are Gabriel Zakuani and Mark Beck who I think will be very, very important players for us this year and I believe we will be in the running this year.

Sad to see some of these players go such as Liam and Shaun. They have been great servants to the club, Liam wanted a vastly improved contract which we couldn't see financial sense so we parted ways whereas Shaun was warned he will have to fight for his place this year with higher quality players coming in, Rochdale was keen to take him off our hands for 100k though. Jody Morris, Gary Alexander and Hayden Mullins had solid seasons last year for us but they are late 30's and are declining and we need better than what we had, so we reluctantly parted ways.

Friendlies:

Grimsby 4 - 2 Preston
Hanson, Beck (2), Garrido

Gateshead 2 - 4 Grimsby
Beck (2), Gnahore, Zakuani

Grimsby 0 - 1 Tottenham

Whitehawk 0 - 2 Grimsby
Beck, Vernon

A nice way to warm up for the season again which we will be approaching with the same manner but we now have more quality in our squad and are determined to go one better this year by seeing where we are in the next few months. The chairman thinks a top half finish would be a realistic goal but I don't agree with that, I think we can get play-offs again this year.

The media have tipped us to have a great defensive record this year with the players we have brought in.

Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 1st August 2015

Bescott Stadium

Walsall 1 - 2 Grimsby
Vernon (16', 60')

MOTM: Scott Vernon

Scotty continues his goalscoring exploits from last year and put Walsall to the sword, it gives us a great opening win of the season and confidence that we already have Scott in goalscoring form which we know what he can do if given the service.

Capital One Cup First Round
Tuesday 4th August 2015

Blundell Park

Grimsby 2 - 0 Blackpool
Granja (5', 57')

MOTM: Facundo Granja

Well I gave Facundo the chance after Scott was feeling a little jaded prior to the Walsall game and he pops up with two fantastically taken finishes against the higher opposition of Blackpool to fire us into the next round of the COC. I have a headache on my mind on selections of striker; but its a good headache.

Bournemouth v Grimsby

Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 8th August 2015

Blundell Park

Grimsby 2 - 0 Exeter

Maghoma (45+3'), Vernon (89'), Wiseman sent off

MOTM: Gabriel Zakuani

We hit Exeter right in the sucker punch area. Two goals at the closing stages of either half shows how alert you have to be at all times. This is what ultimately won us this game, even with a man lite we managed a clean sheet and a fairly comfortable victory.

Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 15th August 2015

Plainmoor

Torquay 0 - 1 Grimsby
Bishop (39')

MOTM: Neal Bishop

Experienced midfielder Neal Bishops sensational strike on the 40 minute mark was enough to seal the victory down in Torquay today. What a fantastic goal to win a game, a 35 yard piledriver which is one of the best clean strikes I've seen in football in a long time, worthy of winning any football game.

Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 22nd August 2015

Blundell Park

Grimsby 3 - 2 Rotherham
Granja (24', 34'), Garbutt (63')

MOTM: Facundo Granja

What a fantastic result this is. Rotherham have had some big players, last year Leigh Griffiths who I believe was Premier League standard was turning out for them and this year they have Ross Jenkins and Alex Nimley who I believe are atleast Championship quality players. I see this as a vital three points as Rotherham have some fantastic players.

Capital One Cup Second Round
Tuesday 25th August 2015

Dean Court

Bournemouth 2 - 1 Grimsby
Beck (43'), Amewou sent off

MOTM: Tokelo Rantie

Nothing to be ashamed of, we put a solid display in and although we have caused upsets in the cup in the past we couldn't get past Bournemouth who was very strong defensively and took us a set-piece to just get past them.

Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 29th August 2015

Proact Stadium

Chesterfield 0 - 1 Grimsby
Beck (14')

MOTM: Luke Garbutt

A excellent defensive showcase by us today, we soaked up any pressure and they played it out from the back. We looked very classy and if we pushed forward more we could of probably had more goals but since I took over this game looked like we was a very good footballing team with real passing capabilitys.

Looking set for promotion this year with this start! Loving the story mate, love it when people start from the lower leagues!

Good to see someone doing a Grimsby Town save (my local team too :D). UTM!

I bring to you the very man, David Beckham who has joined our coaching team at Grimsby as he sees us as an up and coming team.

Johnstones Paint Trophy North First Round
Tuesday 1st September 2015

Meadow Lane

Notts County 1 - 2 Grimsby
Garbutt (61'), Vernon (90+1'), Wiseman sent off

MOTM: Luke Garbutt

A nice win in the trophy, we are the defenders of the competition and I wouldn't mind taking another trip to Wembley, a great performance against a slack Notts County team. Scott Vernon sealed all hope of an equaliser in injury time to see us through to the next round.

Johnstones Paint Trophy North Second Round draw:
Burton v Grimsby

Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 5th September 2015

Blundell Park

Grimsby 1 - 1 MK Dons

D'Ath (37')

MOTM: Lawson D'Ath

A credible draw against one of the favorites for the league this year, a very drab game to say the least and looked very scrappy. We still take a point from the match and we will move on, it was a first goal for young Lawson D'Ath which he was delighted with today.

Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 12th September 2015

Sixfields Stadium

Northampton 2 - 1 Grimsby
Vernon (85')

MOTM: Wes Fogden

A poor result against Northampton today, we didn't create enough and look like we ran out of ideas after 10 minutes of the game. We was like lost puppies and was fortunate this result didn't end up more severe.

Sky Bet League Two
Wednesday 16th September 2015

Blundell Park

Grimsby 3 - 0 Hartlepool
Vernon (4', 31'), Bishop (60')

MOTM: Scott Vernon

A great way to bounce back after the grilling I gave them last game, a very convincing win coincided by a clean sheet; I couldn't of asked for much better. Scotty is continuing to be the only striker to smash them in for us and the other two seem to be taking longer to fit in than I would have liked.

Sky Bet League Two
Saturday 19th September 2015

Blundell Park

Grimsby 0 - 0 Wycombe

MOTM: Gabriel Zakuani

A boring stalemate which wasn't fun for either team to watch today.
With a total of three shots on target all game for both sides I guess the kind of game it was speaks for itself. Positive though that we kept another clean sheet.

Sky Bet League Two
Sunday 27th September 2015

Whaddon Road

Cheltenham 2 - 5 Grimsby
Maghoma (25', 53'), Granja (34', 51'), Garbutt (58')

MOTM: Jacques Maghoma

I sent my players out with a little more attacking intent to create more chances which we have been lacking of late, and so we did smashing in five away from home but the flip side is that we conceded two, I'm a man of philosophys and I'd prefer a clean sheet and a slender win to a huge scorelined game.
